   "Ya know, we never did graduate high school," Butch said, sitting with his legs crossed on the couch. His jacket was beat to hell and riddled with patched bullet holes and he was worrying about high school.

   D looked at him sideways for a moment. "Butch, people out here don't even have high school."

   "I guess you're right," he replied with a snort. "Your old man sure did ride your case about it, though."

   D sat down next to him, a cloud of dust kicking up and sticking to her jacket. She shrugged at him, a smile burning brightly on her face. "He never went to high school, he can't say shit."
