Chapter 1: Part One

Chapter Text

  "Will! Hey!"

The familiar voice from across the hall had Will's head spinning eagerly.

  "Lou!"

The girl flung herself onto Will, giggling, and he dramatically spun her around, gripping her tightly.

  "God, I missed you!"

Will scoffed, placing her back on the ground. "You literally saw me last week."

Lou-Ellen rolled her eyes. "Yeah, but that's different. That was summer break, man. This is school!"

She gestured wildly at the hallway around them and Will grimaced. "Yeah, it is school. Sadly."

"Hey, this is our last year. We should at least try to enjoy it!"

Before Will could say anything, Lou was squealing again at something behind Will. Well, someone.

"Lou, Will! Hi guys!" Their friend Cecil exclaimed, pulling Lou-Ellen in for a brief kiss. Will grinned.

"I see you two are still a thing."

Lou blushed and Cecil grinned at his girlfriend. Ugh. They were too damn cute.

The three friends began walking down the hall, waving hello and greeting anyone who said hi. Will honestly couldn't believe that this was his last year of high school. One more year before he would start med school. One more year until he was an adult. That was terrifying.

  "Oh my god, Will!"

Will was attacked in a hug for the second time that day and this time, he was a lot less prepared.

His attacker knocked him off balance and they tumbled to the ground with a yelp.

"Oh, sorry! Sorry, Will!" Piper exclaimed, laying on top of him. Will laughed through a groan, letting her help him up.

"Piper, it's good to see you! But was that really necessary?"

Laughing in embarrassment, Piper nudged him with her shoulder.

"Hey, gotta make a good scene for your last first day of school!"

Will scoffed, continuing to walk towards his locker with Piper now in tow.

"Hey, did you hear about the boy who's living with Percy now?"

Confused, Will shook his head. "I don't talk to Percy all that much."

"Oh, right. Well, he's a senior too. It's his first day of school. Poor kid, it must be really weird to start a new school so late."

Will agreed. He couldn't imagine spending his senior year in a brand new environment. It would suck.

"Oh! Here's my locker. I'll see you later, Solace!"

Will saluted Piper as he continued on his trek to his locker. Cecil and Lou-Ellen had already found their lockers, but Will's seemed to be on the complete opposite side of the school. Great.

After what felt like forever, he finally located his locker. He also found a short boy in all black at his locker. Well, Will guessed, the one above his.

Will made his way up to the boy and tapped him on the shoulder. The boy jumped in fright and spun around on his heel, his black hair nearly whipping Will in the face.

"Woah! Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I- uh, I just need to get to my locker."

The boys wide, brown eyes took Will in, the initial shock wearing off.

"Right, sorry." He muttered, stepping out of his way.

Oh how perfect was it that Will had been assigned the bottom locker. Lanky, six foot three Will Solace has the bottom locker. While this boy who seemed to be an entire foot shorter than him and gotten the top one.

Awkwardly, Will crouched to the floor and took off his back pack, opening it to remove some books he wouldn't need until after lunch.

Out of nowhere, a black skinny jean clad leg appeared right in front of him, startling him.

  "Sorry! I just - I can't really, reach."

Will looked up to find the boy on his tip toes trying to grab something that had seemingly fallen to the back of his locker. Will chuckled, standing up and easily grabbing the book that had toppled over.

"Here you go." Will said with a smile, handing over the book.

Blushing, the small boy muttered, "Thank you."

Will couldn't help but notice how adorable they boy was when he blushed.

  "My name's Will. Will Solace."

"Oh, I'm Nico. Uh, di Angelo."

Will grinned, noting that this Nico was very shy. He really did seem to be the complete opposite of Will.

"Right. Well, the bell's about to ring."

Nico stared blankly at Will for a moment before he snapped out of it. "Oh! Yeah, of course! Um, actually, I have no idea where any of these classrooms are. Could you-?" He asked, gesturing vaguely at his schedule. Will grabbed it, looking it over.

"We have first, fourth, and seventh together. We can walk to first together and I'll show you the other classes on the way."

Nico smiled gratefully, closing his locker and speed walking to catch up with Will's long strides.

"Jesus, you're tall." Nico muttered under his breath, most likely to himself. Will snickered.

  "Really? I was unaware."

  Nico chuckled, shaking his head.

"Hey, it's not my fault you're so short."

Nico scoffed, jaw dropping. "I'm average, you giant freak!"

Will threw his head back and laughed.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night, shorty."
