“Oi. What’s with this shit?” Bakugou tugs at the end of Kirishima’s bandana, earning whines from the redhead.
“Dude, cut it out. I can’t reach up properly to redye my hair so my roots are showing so badly. I can’t wait until they take the stitches out.” Kirishima flops on his bed, tossing his luggage in the corner. He had been in the hospital for a week after a fight with a villain went south. He had to get stitches in his sides, and wasn’t supposed to raise his arms for extended periods of time.
“It’s your own dumbass fault for being so reckless.” Bakugou squats down, unzipping Kirishima’s bag and beginning to sort through his clothes, putting dirty ones in the hamper and clean ones away. He sets Kirishima’s medicine on his desk, while Kirishima watches sleepily, grinning.
“Maybe I just wanted you to take care of me, Bakugou.”
“Oh shut the hell up, Kir. It’s not like I don’t already take care of your ass every day anyway.” Bakugou stands up, turning to look at Kirishima staring at him. He grins before walking over and pulling Kirishima’s bandana off.
“Bakugou! Come on, man! Give it back!”
“Wow, you weren’t kidding. Your roots are really dark.” Bakugou leans forward, running his fingers over the pitch black hair sticking out of the base of Kirishima’s head. Kirishima pouts, trying to discreetly grab his bandana back. It didn’t work, as Bakugou held the bandana over his head, seething with pleasure.
“What’s wrong, Kirishima? Why don’t you just grab it?” Bakugou teased, unable to stop his laughter as Kirishima continued to pout.
“You’re so mean, dude. You know I hate when people see my hair like this. And I still have to wait a week to bleach it and redye it. I bought all the stuff last week to do it, and now I can’t. It sucks!” Kirishima rolls over, wailing into a pillow.
“If it’s that big of a deal, I could always do it for you.” Kirishima turns back over to see a tinge of pink coloring Bakugou’s cheeks.
“You would do that for me, man?”
“I don’t like seeing your shitty hair even shittier than usual.”
“Oh you can’t insult your way out of this. You already said you’d do something nice, it’s too late.”
“I’ll fucking kill you if you tell anyone about this, idiot.”
“My my, I’ve never thought that I’d see Bakugou Katsuki doing something soft and loving.” Kirishima giggled even as Bakugou jumped on him, picking up Crimson Riot the Third and attacking him until they both dissolved into laughter.
-------
“You’re going to have to walk me through this, Kir.” They had commandeered the bathroom for the night, much to the amusement of the rest of the class. Kirishima had wrapped his stitches in special protective plastic so they wouldn’t get wet, and Bakugou had donned gloves, and was ready to follow Kirishima’s instructions.
“Ok, first we need to bleach it. You need to mix the bleach stuff in the bottle, but tear the top part off. There should be an instruction manual.” Kirishima hands the instructions to Bakugou, who reads over them partially.
“We’re dyeing your whole head, correct?” Kirishima nods, as Bakugou starts to mix the dye, shaking the bottle vigorously. Kirishima watches, amused.
“The fuck are you grinning at, Shitty Hair?”
“Just never thought I’d see you shaking an applicator bottle.”
“Shut the hell up. Is it mixed enough?”
“Yeah. So now you can apply it to my hair. Usually, I just spread it all over and work it through my hair, and if I miss a spot I put some on my hands and work in it.” Kirishima wraps the towel tighter around his shoulders as Bakugou leans his head back and begins to work the bleach in his hair.
“Wow, maybe I should get you to do this more often.” Kirishima exhaled as Bakugou’s fingers massaged his head.
“I swear if your stupid ass decides to keep getting hurt just to have me do your hair, I’ll kill you myself.” Bakugou goes over the edges of Kirishima’s hair, making sure to cover every inch, before grabbing the plastic bag that Kirishima had brought with them and puts it on his head.
“God man, no need to be so serious. Although, if it keeps you doing my hair…”
“I’m not fucking joking, Kir.” Bakugou turned his back to Kirishima, peeling the gloves off and throwing them away. Kirishima didn’t need to see Bakugou’s face to tell the blonde was upset about something.
“What’s wrong, Kat? Kirishima stands up, putting his hand on Bakugou’s shoulder and turning him around. He was trembling under Kirishima’s hand, and a mix of anger and fear stained his eyes.
“You could’ve fucking died and yet you’re joking about it. You’re fucking joking about it. It’s not funny, I-” Kirishima draws Bakugou into his arms, rocking him slightly.
“I’m sorry for worrying you. It’s just a hazard of the occupation, I guess. I don’t do it on purpose.”
“I don’t like seeing you hurt.” Bakugou mumbles into Kirishima’s shoulder, garnering chuckles from Kirishima
“I know, I know. I promise I’ll try harder to be safer for you, you big baby.”
“Insult me again and I’ll mess up your hair on purpose.”
“That’s not funny, Bakugou!”
-------
They let the bleach sit for another 20 minutes before Kirishima started to complain about it burning. Bakugou brought Kirishima over to the sink and rinsed the bleach out before tossling his hair dry.
“Did you get it all? Kat?” Kirishima turned around to see Bakugou standing open mouthed, staring at his hair.
“Dude, don’t tell me you messed my hair up. I’ll cry.”
“How are you so hot?” Bakugou choked out the words, making Kirishima freeze for a second before a grin took over his face, and laughter began to pour out of somewhere deep in his chest.
“That’s what has you so shocked? Do I really look that good?”
“You are so hot, Kir. What the fuck? This can’t be fucking happening.” Kirishima turns to look back in the mirror, tentatively running his fingers through his hair.
“Oh my god, Bakugou, we match! We have to take a picture dude! Please!” Kirishima holds his phone out to Bakugou, who absentmindedly takes it. Kirishima pulls Bakugou over to the mirror, slinging an arm around Bakugou as the blonde snaps a few pictures.
“I thought you didn’t want people to know that your hair isn’t naturally red.”
“It’s for me, dummy. We’re totally matching, it’s so cute! We look super manly!”
“You’re such a dork.” Bakugou puts his hands on Kirishima’s shoulders, forcing his back into the seat as he prepares the red dye.
“You should dye your hair red, Bakugou. I know you’d look SUPER manly!”
“You saying I don’t look super manly now, huh?” Bakugou leans over Kirishima’s shoulder, nudging Kirishima’s cheek with his nose. Kirishima turns to look at him, giggling softly before kissing his nose.
“You’re the manliest guy I know, Kat. Even if you have dye smeared on the side of your face.”
“What the fuck?” Bakugou looked in the mirror to see a streak of red adorning his face. He tries to rub it off with a towel, but that just smears it. Kirishima can’t keep himself from giggling more as Bakugou frantically rubs at his face.
“It’s too late, man. You already got it on you. It’ll be a few days before it comes off.” Kirishima puts the bag back on his head as Bakugou growls to himself.
“Looks like my secret is going to have to come out anyway. Cuz there isn’t any way to explain this away.” Kirishima spins around in the chair, watching Bakugou glare at the mirror.
“I’m sorry. Should’ve paid more attention to what I was doing.”
“It’s not that serious, man. I was going to have to tell everyone anyway. Plus, you look really cute right now.” Kirishima takes another picture of Bakugou scowling before the blonde is trying to grab the phone from him. Kirishima tucks it behind his back, Bakugou reaching behind him to try and get it.
“Watch out, man, or you’ll get more dye on yourself!” Kirishima laughs as Bakugou backs up, glaring at Kirishima.
“Delete it, Shitty Hair.”
“Nope. Totally getting these developed. In fact, I’m making these my new lock and home screen.” Kirishima fiddles with his phone for a few moments before showing Bakugou his new lockscreen. It was of them, Kirisihima’s smile taking over his face, and Bakugou’s arms in an attempt of a cross as he took the picture. Bakugou softened, sighing before he flopped on the floor.
“You’re such an idiot. How long does this need to stay on?”
-------
“Okay, so now we have to rinse this out and wash my hair and condition my hair.” Kirishima flung the plastic bag in the trash, turning to Bakugou.
“Let me rinse the dye out first, then get in the tub so I can wash it.”
“Being with me while I’m bathing? I dunno man, sounds kinda gay to me.” Kirishima ducks as Bakugou flings his fist at him, running and sliding to the other side of the bathroom.
“We’re literally dating, you fucking idiot. Now come over here so I can rinse your hair.”
“You better not hit me, Bakugou.” Kirishima hesitantly walks back over to the sink, wincing as Bakugou hits him on the head.
“You fucking deserved it, dumbass.” Bakugou bends Kirishima over, pushing his head under the sink and rinsing the dye out his head. The water stains red as it swirls down the drain, leaving a pink tinge in the sink.
“We can clean that up later. Though it might stay stained. This is a different brand than I usually use. My regular brand was sold out. How does it look?”
“Same usual shitty ass hair.”
“Aw, you know you love my hair, Kat!” Kirishima flings his arms around Bakugou, causing him to curse and squirm.
“Just get in the fucking tub!”
-------
Bakugou washed and combed Kirishima’s hair before leaving him alone to finish washing up. When he was done, he went back to his room to see Bakugou waiting for him, studying the directions on the back of the jar that Kirishima had.
“What is a ‘hair mask’?”
“It’s basically like a deep conditioner. It’ll help my hair stay moisturized and prevent breakage. You’re supposed to rinse them out, but I keep them in because it makes my hair softer. You’ll probably need about a palmful, and you have to work from the roots to the ends.” Kirishima seats himself in between Bakugou’s legs, on the floor in front of the bed. Bakugou unscrews the lid, scooping out a handful of product.
“Is this what makes your hair smell so fucking good all the time?” Bakugou sniffs the cream before applying it liberally to Kirishima’s scalp, working his fingers to the ends of each strand.
“Uh, it depends, honestly. I like the smell of this one the best, but I only use it about once a month. I usually just use either regular conditioner, or hair grease. The hair gel I have smells good, too. And of course my shampoo. I don’t know, I guess all my hair care products smell nice.” Kirishima leaned against Bakugou’s leg, closing his eyes as Bakugou massaged the mask into his hair.
“Okay, I’m done. What next?”
“Next is the last step. All you have to do is put that on my head.” Kirishima gestures to the scarf on his bed, looking up at Bakugou, who held the scarf in his hands.
“How?”
“Just give it to me. I’ll do it.” Kirishima took the scarf out of Bakugou’s hands, effectively wrapping his hair up in a way that left Bakugou more than confused.
“There, all done! Thank you very much, Bakugou! Couldn’t have done it without you. Seriously, I needed this. Hospitals are kinda gross.”
“Not all done. Get up here.” Kirishima feels Bakugou trying to pull him onto the bed, and stands up before sitting on the bed.
“What do you mean, we’re not all done? I don’t have anything else to do.”
“Lay here.” Bakugou pats his lap, and Kirishima obliges.
“I still don’t understand what else we have to- mmmm that feels nice.” Bakugou was massaging Kirishima’s head through the scarf, making happy noises pour out of Kirishima.
“Wanna make you feel good, stupid. I missed you when you were in the hospital. Stop fucking getting hurt.”
“Only if you promise to do this more often.”
“I’ll do anything if it means keeping you safe, Kir.”
