Work Text:
Kiri slowly opened his eyes, squinting them as the bright light flooded the common room and assaulted his vision. He held back his groan as his head started to thump slightly, complaining from last night’s antics. He hadn’t drunk too much but as someone that rarely consumed alcohol, it had gotten to him.
He glanced over to the couch across the room, noting that Todoroki and Bakugou had left; the furniture now vacant. Blankets folded up neatly. Those boys and their strict fitness routine were probably out on a run even if they were hungover. Pair of masochists.
Kiri kept his breathing steady as he felt a warm weight pressed against his front. He glanced down to see a mop of blonde hair just below his chin, a black stripe washed through them. Denki.
The electric boy seemed to still be in a deep sleep, his breaths coming out long and steady. Kiri could feel his heat as it seeped through his clothes and he couldn’t bring himself to wake the other boy yet or make a move himself. He could stay here for a little longer, he thought, as he wrapped his arms more firmly around the smaller boy. His back ached slightly from the angle he had fallen asleep at on the couch but he couldn’t bring himself to care as his secret crush slept soundly on his chest; their legs tangled together.
Kiri had to admit to himself at some point that he was crushing hard on one of his best friends. He had put the feeling off for so long; convincing himself that they had just been through so much together over the years and supported each other that the feelings he had creeping in were just natural. He loved all of his friends.
But Kiri couldn’t find a justification for his daydreams of kissing the blonde, pushing his hair behind his ear as he caressed his face. He couldn’t say it was just friendly when he wanted to touch every inch of Denki’s body and show him how much he adored him and he definitely couldn’t deny the intense jealousy he felt when he saw Denki being overly affectionate with someone else. Like last night with Ojiro… stroking his tail. Kiri wanting the small, blonde boy cuddling him instead.
He shook his head from his jealous thoughts; that negativity would get him no where and he knew Denki wouldn’t like it. He had no right to tell Denki who he could and couldn’t touch. He would just like it if he could be someone a little extra special to the electric boy.
Kiri let out a sigh, his chest rising and falling more harshly than he intended which stirred Denki.
“Oh God.”
Denki didn’t move as he groaned out these two words and Kiri could see the pretty blonde squeeze his eyes together tighter. Unlike the red-head, Denki had definitely gone hard on the drinks last night and was clearly waking up to regret his decision.
“Do you want some water?” Kiri whispered, very conscious of the smaller boy’s delicate state.
“Do. Not. Move.” Denki punctuated. “Let me stay still until the world stops spinning before you even think of sitting up. Unless you want vomit on your shirt.”
Kiri chuckled gently at Denki, rubbing his hands up and down the blonde’s arms in a soothing motion; trying to help ground him as he clearly came to terms with his predicament.
Slowly, Denki raised his head and opened his eyes. His golden orbs meeting red.
Even hungover he looked stunning. His delicate and pretty features were slightly flushed but his tan freckles still looked beautiful sprinkled over his nose and cheeks. You could only really see them up close as they were so fair and Kiri adored them. He wanted to graze his fingers over them.
Denki’s lips were a little swollen and red, a pair of slight dark circles appearing under his bright eyes. Although at the minute his expression looked pained as he stared at Kiri.
“My head hurts.” He whined, smacking his forehead back into Kiri as he tried to put his vision back into darkness.
Kiri snorted this time.
“That’s what you get for hammering them back, Denks. That and you suck at Mario Kart… you drank a lot of forfeit shots.” Kiri reminisced, giggling at his friend’s misfortune.
Denki gave him a light slap on his arm, groaning out for him to shut up before he slowly shifted so he could sit up. Kiri bent his legs so the blonde could sit up comfortably on the couch; missing his warmth already but didn’t complain.
The blonde swayed slightly as he sat, his face pale and Kiri worried for a moment that he might vomit but Denki soon settled with just a small burp passing his lips.
Suddenly, a small smile crept onto the smaller boy’s face which eventually turned into a massive, shit-eating grin. Kiri found himself smiling back, Denki’s energy contagious.
“What’s so funny?” Kiri asked, already amused.
“I wonder how Deku’s little adventure went.”
Kiri let out a loud laugh which made Denki flinch. He apologised quickly but the smile didn’t leave his face. He had completely forgotten about Deku’s little drunk plan to go and see his girlfriend, oblivious to the time he decided to go and do so. I’m sure Ochaco was very impressed with her green-haired idiot turning up at her door at three in the morning. I suppose they would find out soon.
The rest of their Sunday went by fairly smoothly. The boys had eventually moved off the couch, bladders and heads complaining. Kiri and Denki had stuck together most of the day, nursing head aches and drinking a lot of water. They returned to the common room couch after showering and getting some food, sitting close together to play some games.
Deku had come down a short time later, a very sheepish expression on his face that made the boys grin. They may have been hungover but at least they weren’t hungover with an angry girlfriend to make things up to. Poor Midoriya. Turns out, Ochaco had let him in when he came tumbling to her room but promptly put the boy to bed like a toddler, promising a lecture in the morning. From the puppy dog look in Deku’s eyes as he entered the common room; he had definitely received it.
Eventually the pair had gone to hide in Kiri’s room as more people flooded into the common space. Denki’s delicate disposition for once didn’t want to be around the chaos and the small blonde was uncharacteristically quiet. It was much to Mina’s delight as she tormented the electric boy, screaming in his ear and jumping all over him until he almost sprinted away from the girl to get to Kiri’s room; the red-head following behind and laughing.
They napped, gamed and napped some more until it was time for Denki to return to his own room for the night. They were back to their class’s tomorrow, much to their displeasure.
Monday came round too quickly and Kiri let out a big sigh as he styled his fiery hair up into its usual spiked style, his uniform already on.
Morning classes zoomed by quickly and soon it was lunch time; the Bakusquad sat together in the cafeteria. Denki’s insane energy had returned with a vengeance as him and Mina chatted excitedly about a new club opening in town. Sero sat listening and Bakugou looked like he wanted to blow up the pair of them, making Kiri chuckle as he approached the table with his tray; sitting next to his explosive best friend.
“It will be so cool to go!” Mina squealed. “We could wear neon paint!”
Denki practically vibrated with excitement next to the pink girl as he agreed enthusiastically.
“You won’t get in, dumbasses.” Bakugou interjected, spoiling their fun. “You have to be twenty- one. You’re both only eighteen.”
Mina rolled her eyes at the blonde, not fazed by his words.
“Thanks for that wonderful bit of education, Baku. We know that! I know you think we are stupid but we aren’t… with everything anyway… that’s what fake ID is for!”
“Oh, for fuck sake.” Bakugou huffed out, his face falling into his palms, exasperated with his idiot friends.
“And how are you going to get fake ID?” Sero asked, a curious look on his face. He wasn’t seriously thinking of…
“We know a guy.” Said Denki. His grin never leaving his features. Eyes electric with excitement. In fact, Kiri was sure he could see some sparks flying off the smaller boy as he spoke.
“You mean that purple-haired mind fuck?” Bakugou deadpanned, staring at the other blonde.
“The one and only!” Mina announced.
Bakugou groaned again, mumbling under his breath about how he couldn’t believe he was friends with such idiots which just made everyone around the table smile. He loved them really and they knew it.
“Come on, Bakubro. Don’t spoil their fun.” Kiri joined. “I would go!”
Katsuki only rolled his eyes at his best friend.
“Of course, you fucking would.”
Kiri kept looking at his best friend, amused by his antics when he noticed a movement from the corner of his eye but didn’t flinch.
He watched as Denki, the absolute fearless lunatic that he was, as he pulled back his loaded spoon and aimed the potato filled metal at Bakugou’s face. He clearly wanted to die today, Kiri thought, as the electric blonde released the tension on the utensil.
A satisfying ‘splat’ noise echoed as the food connected perfectly with Bakugou’s cheek, the platinum blonde blinking in surprise. The entire cafeteria seemed to go deathly silent as Bakugou slowly turned his head to glare at a nervous but giggling Kaminari who was currently trying to shrink himself under the table.
Kiri could practically see all the ways Katsuki was murdering Denki in his head and before he could think, the red-head picked up his own spoon. Flicking a large splodge of food at the electric boy, making him squeal.
“You bastard!” He screamed but it came out as a laugh.
He quickly grabbed his own spoon again, flicking potato but this time at Kiri. The substance splattering over Kiri’s shirt.
“Oh, you’re on!” The red-head shouted, standing and arming himself with his spoon and lunch.
He moved to dodge Denki’s advances, skirting around the table.
“Oi, Shittyhair!” Bakugou suddenly shouted. Kiri turned to his friend only to be greeted by a flick of food hitting him across his face. A smirking Bakugou behind his weapon.
“That’s so not manly, bro!” Kiri shouted, already throwing back his custard pudding, aiming for the blonde’s face.
And then in a blink of an eye.
Chaos erupted.
Kiri shot more food at Baku, Denki at Kiri, Baku back at Denki, Mina joining in for a surprise attack at Baku. Sero snuck in some hits.
Before they knew it. The entire cafeteria was having a food war.
Classes from all disciplines joined in, flinging food across the room.
Laughter and screeches filled the open space as everyone got competitive.
Friends were used as human shields, tables ducked behind, bigger spoons grabbed from the kitchens to launch larger amounts. The room became an absolute mess in minutes. UA students firing from all angles.
Bakugou even sprinted across the room to find his boyfriend, firing shots of food as he ran towards him. Todoroki dodging him as seriously as he would in training; shooting his own shots right back.
Ochaco got her peace with Deku, dumping her cold soup over his head as he gasped, fumbling for his own to try and get revenge.
Their fun eventually came to an end as a very, very bored looking Aizawa came into the cafeteria; followed by a few other teachers.
Everyone involved was put under a week’s worth of detention and all of them would have to work together to clean the space but overall, they got away with it. Aizawa mumbling how he ‘wasn’t paid enough for this shit’ as he left.
Kiri and Denki got put in charge of one corner of the room as students were split up into groups to clean up the mess they had created. The pair had been given a seating space in one of the coves of the cafeteria so they were mostly hidden from view as they got their cloths ready and starting cleaning. Both still grinning like morons.
“You look ridiculous.” Denki stated, laughing at his red-headed friend who had sauce smeared up the corner of his mouth, potato in his hair and an array of liquids staining his uniform.
Kiri snorted.
“You’re no better off!” He laughed and Denki had to agree. His own hair sticky with food and uniform ruined.
“I can’t believe we even have to clean the floor.” Denki whined. “And with no mops! Just these stupid cloths.”
“I suppose that’s what we get for making such a mess.” Kiri replied solemnly. Not looking forward to having to crawl around to clean the ground either.
The boys cleaned in a comfortable silence for a while, working from the outer perimeter in until they were both in the middle of their space, on their hands and knees as they wiped up the last off the mess from the floor.
Both of them were so enraptured by their task, wanting to get done as soon as possible, that they didn’t notice how close they got until they bumped heads into each other.
“Ouch!” They both said simultaneously, Denki reaching up to rub the top of his head.
“Sorry, Denks!” Kiri blurted.
Kaminari lifted his head and his breath hitched. He was insanely close to his red-headed friend. In fact, he would just have to lean forward slightly to kiss him. The thought brought a blush to his cheeks.
Kiri had also noticed their close proximity, his own face going flushed as the very pretty blond looked back at him.
“It’s okay.” Denki whispered. “It was my fault too.”
Neither boy moved, their breathes mingling.
“You’ve got food on your face.” Denki suddenly blurted.
Kiri laughed.
“Yeah I know.”
“Want me to get it off for you?” Denki asked and Kiri thought his heart might stop in his chest.
He told himself not to overthink it, that Denki would just use his hand to wipe his face for him. Even that contact made Kiri nervous as for some reason the scenario suddenly felt so intimate. The atmosphere was thick and there was something in the air. Just your imagination, Kiri told himself. Stop being weird.
“Sure.” He replied. Not really trusting his voice to say much more.
The blonde seemed to take a moment, a look passing in his eyes that Kiri couldn’t place before he leaned forward and gently placed his soft lips against Kiri’s.
This time, Kiri was nearly one hundred percent sure that his heart stopped working. His eyes widening at the touch. There was no way his bubbly, insane, beautiful and kind crush had just kissed him.
Denki seemed to move back just as quick, the small peck over. A flash of red creeping over his face.
“Sorry.” He mumbled and went to pull away but Kiri grabbed his wrist and stopped him from backing away.
Before he could think too much about it, Kiri pressed his lips to the blonde’s and this time closed his eyes. He felt Denki jolt slightly but then relax into the kiss.
It was a sweet embrace. Soft lips moving slightly against each other and pecking. It was a tender exchange. Both boys eventually pulled back slightly but Denki moved to press his forehead against Kiri’s.
“I really like you.” Denki breathed.
Kiri’s world swam slightly as all his dreams seemed to come true in front of him.
“I like you too.” He whispered back.
A grin crept its way back up both of their faces.
The moment was only ruined when they heard a screech, both of their heads snapping up to look at their pink friend.
“Fucking finally!” Mina shouted, fists pumping in the air.
The boys could only smile more and laugh.
Yes, they both thought.
Fucking finally.
