Snow Date

Summary:

It snows. Mirio and Tamaki go on a date.

Notes:

It snowed today (yes it snowed in November) so I decided to write this.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

When Tamaki woke up that morning, he was shivering. His radiator of a boyfriend wasn’t present and there was clattering in the kitchen, meaning he was up and making breakfast. Tamaki contemplated going back under the covers and trying to go back to sleep, but the smell of fresh food was too tempting. As he slowly got out of bed, he looked out the window to see everything covered in a thick layer of white.

“Snow? In November?” He complained to no one in particular, flinching as his feet touched the cold wood of the floor.

He shuffled out to the kitchen, where breakfast was waiting. Mirio was preoccupied with the stove, making sure the food wouldn’t burn. Tamaki took the opportunity to wrap his arms around his boyfriend’s waist, nuzzling his face into Mirio’s back. He hummed in satisfaction when Mirio placed a hand over his.

“Morning sleepyhead,” he said lovingly, turning off the stove to turn around so he could lift his lover into his arms. Tamaki’s legs wrapped around his waist and his hands moved to the back of his neck. “Your hands are cold.”

“And you’re warm. Deal with it.” Tamaki had never been a morning person. He’s sassier when he’s tired. Mirio finds it cute.

“Well hopefully breakfast will warm you up,” the blond said cheerfully, placing a light kiss to Tamaki’s head and ruffling his already messy hair before setting him down. Tamaki grabbed the food Mirio made for him and poured himself a cup of coffee.

They spent the rest of breakfast in a comfortable silence. Tamaki slowly started to wake up, and Mirio focused on his food. As much as Mirio loved to talk about anything and everything, and as much as Tamaki loved to hear him talk, they could both appreciate being silent and just enjoying each other’s presence.

“I was thinking,” Mirio said after they both finished eating. “Maybe, if you’re not busy, we could go out and enjoy the weather later.”

“I’d like that.” Mirio gave him one of his trademark award-winning smiles. Ever since they were kids, Mirio had always loved the snow. Whenever there was a snow day and school got cancelled he’d come over to play with Tamaki. The dark haired boy smiled at the fond memory. He’s so glad Mirio chose him. He wouldn’t know what to do without him.
