Game Show

Summary:

"Shinsou-kun!" Izuku calls out, something dangerously delighted in his tone, and Hitoshi internally pleads with himself to ignore the greenette, but he knows it's futile as he freezes in place. "Oh, that's perfect! I didn't wanna go get you in case you were asleep, but you're here just in time anyway!" He enthused, bouncing over to Hitoshi to drag him over to middle of the room where he'd been standing before, and Hitoshi let him. He didn't even protest all that much.

(It was hard to, with Midoriya's hand in his. Ugh. Feelings.)

"In time for what?" Hitoshi asked with forced nonchalance, and had to bite down a pleasantly-surprised noise when Midoriya didn't hesitate to answer. He never did, outside of when they were against each other in training, but it still surprised him every time. He wondered if he'd ever get used to it.

"It's a Hero Trivia Gameshow!

Notes:

a really short one here lmao I really couldn't think of much to write. like I lost motivation to contiune and stopped it literally in the middle and it shows lmao. Still cute tho so its a win <3

Work Text:

"Would anyone like to tell me." Hitoshi sighed, eyeing Bakugo carefully, as he walked downstairs, "What the hell is going on."

"um." Sero, the nearest person frowned, eyes flitting between Hitoshi and the spectacle he'd walked down to. "Not....particularly." they admitted, and Hitoshi admired their honesty, at least.

The spectacle in question....definitely wasn't the worst thing he'd walked down on. The room had been split in half. On one side, Bakugo stood behind a makeshift podium, Kaminari sitting down beside him. On the other side was, Izuku, because of course it was who else would it be, stood behind a makeshift podium, with Iida sat beside him. In the middle of the room stood Ashido, sporting one of her more manic grins, and maybe half the class was seated on the outskirts of the room- mostly just Izuku and Bakugo's respective friend groups.

But Hitoshi had a bad feeling about it- not in a dangerous way, but in a headache-inducing one. That in mind he nodded to himself, shook his head, and turned to go back upst-

"Shinsou-kun!" Izuku calls out, something dangerously delighted in his tone, and Hitoshi internally pleads with himself to ignore the greenette, but he knows it's futile as he freezes in place.

"It's a Hero Trivia Gameshow!" He enthused, coming to stand beside the podium again. He spotted Iida, and his face colored a pretty red. "Oh- ah, Iida-kun, do you, uh, do you m-mind-"

"Not at all!" Iida stood, stepping to the side with a smile. "It is only right to optimize a team in a situation like this, and I recognize that I am no longer best suited for the role!" Iida nodded. Hitoshi frowned.

"Iida-san....your brother is a pro hero." He said slowly, trying to catch up to the situation a bit.

"That is correct!"

"And this. Is a hero trivia competition."

"No. it is a hero trivia gameshow!" Iida corrected with a sharp movement of his arms.

"You say that like there's a difference."

"Aoyama-kun is filming it!" Iida pointed out, which Hitoshi was not aware of. He looked at the blonde, perched on top of the couch with a camera to record the event from an angle, and Hitoshi decided to tackle one problem at a time.

"Ok. But still. If it's a hero trivia gameshow, and your brother is a hero, then you should be the ideal candidate." Hitoshi pointed out, tilting his head. "Or Todoroki. It's weird he isn't here."

"He was not interested, but he sends his regards!" Iida informs helpfully. "And, while I understand your argument, I am sorry to inform you that you're incorrect! The information I've accumulated by being raised by heroes is...not of the trivia variety. I know more about heroics, then any specific hero, which is what I've been told these questions focus on!"

"Hey!" Ashido suddenly cut in, shuffling cue cards in her hand. "There's plenty of variety! I'll have you know, we have a 'Heroic laws' category!"

"One category doesn't boost his chances all that much." Kaminari pointed out, wiggling impatiently in his chair. "Can we just get started already?"

"Of course!" Iida nodded, taking another step back. Hitoshi could almost hear Midoirya buzzing with anticipation. "I wish the two of you the best of luck, and will join our friends in cheering you on!"

Hitoshi sighed, sitting down in the chair and shifting uncomfortably. Iida and Midoriya...they weren't wrong. He was kind of a fountain of random hero knowledge- a product of a bit too much fanboying and a lot too much time spent on Wikipedia and hero forums in the dead of night- but he didn't know how Midoriya knew that.

Hitoshi opened his mouth to ask when Bakugo let out a loud, derisive snort.

"This'll be too easy. Couldn't even pick someone awake enough to count to ten, Deku?" He taunted.

Midoriya glanced at Hitoshi, and his face lit up with a grin Hitoshi hadn't seen before. Something...not quite predatory, but definitely mischievous.

"Say what you want, Kacchan." Midoriya giggled, and Hitoshi would do anything for his stupid freckled face, "We've got this in the bag. Right, Hitoshi-kun?" He asked, adding a confident wink for effect, and Hitoshi is hit with a sudden realization that should have come much sooner.

Oh. Midoriya had a plan. Any leftover hesitation vanished.

"Of Couse." Hitoshi nodded, finding he liked the pleased shine in the greenette's eyes when he played along. He tried to match Midoriya's grin, just to prove the point, and Midoriya preened. "They won't know what hit 'em."
