Kanan/hera hurt Comfort angsty with a hopeful ending
[There is nothing he can do, something he struggles to accept, only to realize just maybe there was one person, astromech, that could.
Pulling, Kanan knows he’ll be apologizing to the mech later, Kanan all but pulls the thing across the ship.
It surely cusses up a storm in binary as he brings it towards the door, allowing the mech in with a swish of the door that doesn’t perturb Hera’s solemn proclamations.
Hera had rules and limits, Kanan knew she wouldn’t want anyone to see her this way, not even him, but Chopper could and would always be an exception.
Especially since now the mech is silent.
Not eerily so as it sometimes could be, wheeling closer, assessing the sight before it. Top spinning as it took in its owners words, complying immediately.
A small blue hologram projected from Chopper's top, Kanan hearing the static, and then the words.
Soft crooning words that held Hera’s inflections, instantly Hera freezes in his arms before her head turns from his chest and towards the sound.
Sniffling, entranced.
Kanan nods appreciatively at the mech, still and quiet as Hera, never once leaving his arms, shifted to give the hologram her full attention.
Grief and sadness still weigh her down, yet a light and love lets her breathe easier, deeper than she has in sometime.
