Chapter Text
Tony looked at him with an odd sense of admiration in his eyes. Stephen couldn't remember anyone looking at him in that way. Not since his neurosurgeon days anyway, but even then it was never in the way that Tony did right now. He couldn't quite piece together why.
"You're unreadable, doc" Tony spoke softly. Stephen found himself huffing at the words, a slight grin lingering at his lips.
"Will that be all?" he said cheekily, raising an eyebrow ever so slightly. He was genuinely curious about the feeling that awoke within him upon thinking that he was all but a mystery to Stark. The fact that the man had troubles figuring him out made something playful and almost childish well up inside him. He thought of it as intriguing to be a puzzle to someone. And for that someone to be genius billionaire Tony Stark, of all people, amplified the feeling.
"Oh, c'mon-" said genius yapped. "You could at least give me a hint of what's going on in that head of yours. You're keeping me on my toes here".
Stephen's grin widened. "Good" he said with a wink and turned on his heel, walking through the dimensional gateway he'd opened and allowed it to close behind him. "Wouldn't you like to know, Tony Greedy Stark" he muttered into the air. Despite that, he felt giddy about what was to come.
