Work Text:
Izuku walked down the stairs into the common room where the class had remained along with the arrival of Aizawa and All Might, both of whom were watching him carefully. He withheld the need to scoff, did they expect him to lash out and become violent? Well, he was more dignified than that. He’d most likely get his revenge when they least expect it and they’d be wholly unprepared.
He wanted to walk out and hopefully avoid any sort of confrontation but he’d have to come in to retrieve the rest of his things. Ignoring them wouldn’t work for long, well, maybe if he recruited Kaachan and Shinsou to help him. Perhaps Todoroki would also help, since neither boy had withdrawn from him like the class had.
He paused at the door when he saw Kaachan get up and walk towards him, hands shoved into his pocket. Tilting his head slightly, a strand of curl fell down his forehead. “Something you need?”
Kaachan stood staring at him for a moment, he looked away with cheeks coated in a light pink. “I know you got more shit than that, do you want some help?”
Izuku smiled, freckled cheeks dimpled at the corner of his lips. “Yeah, I’d appreciate that.”
“I’ll help too,” Shinsou offered, standing up with a lazy stance. Todoroki stood seconds later with a nod in the green haired boy’s direction and a quirk of his lips before his face slipped back into it’s emotionless mask. The gravity defying haired boy glanced at the other and shrugged. “I guess we’re both helping.”
“Thanks, my door is unlocked. I have these two suitcases and four other boxes and a single duffel bag, that one I’ll grab.” Izuku said, watching them shuffle off after they nodded at his words. He walked out the dorms and out the building, his mom waited out front. Her car was a gift from dad a few years back when he accidently overworked and forgot their anniversary.
“Izuku, honey, how are you?” She pulled him into a motherly hug and he immediately melted with a soft sigh. “My poor baby, those idiots will pay for allowing you to get hurt while being illegally interrogated.”
Izuku was just happy to be in the arms of his mom, everything had been exhausting and all he wanted to do was sleep. It was all too much and he’d rather forget the day, just for now. Revenge would be later when he finally got some rest. “I just want to get home.” His voice was muffled but he was sure his loving mother heard him clearly.
She ran her fingers gently through his green curls, humming softly. “Of course, baby, I’ll handle everything while you get some rest.” The woman glanced up as she heard footsteps drawing near. “Oh, hello, Katsuki dear. How have you been?”
“Hey, Auntie Inko, I’ve been okay. I tried to convince those morons that De-Izuku wasn’t the traitor but no one would listen. Losers tried apologizing and though that would be it.” Izuku heard Kaachan scoff as he replied with a gentle voice. No surprise seeing as the blonde had a healthy dose of both fear and respect for the older Midoriya.
Izuku pulled away from his mom’s protective embrace and glanced at Shinsou and Todoroki. “Mama, meet Shinsou Hitoshi and Todoroki Shouto. Along with Kaachan, neither had believed the false rumors. Guys meet my mother, Midoriya Inko, the great and wonderful woman who gave birth to me.” He turned to his mom and nodded towards the building. “I have one more thing to grab and then we could leave, I’ll be right back.”
Once she nodded, Izuku ran inside the dreaded place and back into the dorms. Annoyingly Class 1-A sat in the same spot as before, quite bothersome. He ignored them once more and continued his run to his old room to grab his duffel bag that was filled with flash-drives he accumulated over the years when he couldn’t keep sensitive information in his notebooks. Despite prior belief, Izuku was no idiot and knew it was dangerous keeping such descriptions of heroes and students in the notebooks and thus turned to flash-drives with encrypted codes to ensure it’s safety.
He slung the bag over his shoulder and turned to leave only to find the doorway blocked by the man who had him sent to the station to be interrogated. Instantly he tensed, eyes searching for any viable way to escape should the need arise, only finding access to the window but the building was approximately four stories up. His senses were going haywire and he didn’t know how to react, fight or flight? Which way was the right way?
“Midoriya?” Izuku couldn’t help the flinch that racked his body, the last time Aizawa said his name he was being ordered to step out of the classroom and forced into a police car and sent to a place where people should feel safe but he was anything but. He gnawed the inside of his cheek and trembled with the rising nerves. “I’m only here to apologize, no reason to feel nervous.”
And honestly, he couldn’t stop the derisive snort even if he wanted to. “No need to be anxious,” as if feeling comfortable around him was an option. Izuku had promised himself he was going to be strong but all this was too much and it was barely even a full day that it all happened. How could he possibly relax when all of his senses were telling him to fight and protect?
“It doesn’t matter,” it does matter, but I won’t admit it. “It’s done with I’m just grabbing my things and I’ll be gone.” Please just leave me alone, haven’t you done enough?
Aizawa sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose, immediately Izuku is on guard. He’d learnt what that meant from past teachers, annoyance and irritation was never a good thing and especially if was directed at him. “Of course, it matters, Midoriya. I shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions--”
“But you did,” Izuku cuts him off sharply, terrified at that but not able to stop from speaking his mind. “You jumped to conclusions and it cost me. You’re only apologizing because you feel guilt and I don’t want that, I don’t need it. I’m okay because I’ve seen your true colors, I’ve seen their true colors and I’m not so surprised. Before I can be a hero for others, I have to be a hero for myself. Being here does nothing but hurt me and brings me down. So you can keep your apology, nothing is going to change the fact that you hurt me and that you proved to be just like everyone else.”
He didn’t wait for him to say anything else, just shoved his way past the frozen man. “Goodbye, Aizawa.” Izuku felt lighter as he made his way down the steps, forgoing the elevator once again. He groaned at the sight of All Might, who stood awkwardly at the bottom. “Great.” He whispered quietly.
“Midoriya, my boy--”
“I’m not your boy,” Izuku was still high on confidence from his conversation with Aizawa so he interrupted the tall blonde man off, ignoring the way he coughed out blood. “I already talked to Aizawa so I don’t need to talk to you, I’m going to leave and you’re going to leave me alone.”
“It’s important--”
“I don’t care, take it up with someone who does. Goodbye.” Izuku shoved past him with embarrassing ease. He walked by shellshocked students who had watched the interaction and exited the building where his mom was with his three only true friends. “Mom, I’m ready.”
Kaachan takes the duffel bag from the shorter boy's arm and places it carefully in the trunk, mindful that it might be incredibly important if he had gotten it himself. The blonde patted him on the back, looking away with red tipped ears as he said gruffly, “Gonna miss ya, nerd. Remember to call or text, have to make sure your dumbass stays out of trouble without me there.”
Izuku giggles, shaking his head. “Kaachan, you’re the bad influence, not the other way around.”
“Pfft, whatever! I’m not the chaotic one that chases danger, you adrenaline junkie!”
“Kaachan!” He whined, looking at Todoroki with puppy dog eyes. “It’s not true right, Todoroki-kun?” Izuku batted his eyelashes playfully and pouted his lips. He shrieked as the dual-quirk user erupted in flames on his left side. “Todoroki-kun!”
“It’s your fucking fault, nerd!” Kaachan cackled, Todoroki put out the fire and avoided eye contact with the green haired boy.
“I agree with Midoriya, it’s not true.”
Shinsou snickered. “Gay panic is real with this one, you can’t agree just because he’s pretty.”
Izuku grew a teasing grin as he eyed the tall purple haired boy mischievously. “You think I’m pretty?”
“Uh-What? I, Uh-” He stuttered through his sentence.
“Alright, gays..I mean guys, it’s time for the nerd to go. I’m sire Auntie is tired of waiting.” Kaachan said.
Inko smiled gently. “It’s fine, boys, take your time saying your goodbyes. There’s no rush.”
“Bye Shinso, bye Todoroki!” Izuku gave them both a quick, sweet hug that had them turning various shades of red. He laughed before turning to Kaachan. “I’ll see you during the holidays and on weekends you come home, bye Kaachan.” The blonde received a hug as well that he pretended to hate but Izuku knew that he would miss the short boy. “I’ll miss you guys!” He got in the passenger seat and waved as his mom drove off, U.A becoming a small dot in the distance.
“What will you do now, sweetheart?” His mom asked kindly, eyes similar to his focus on the road.
Izuku shrugged with a carefree smile, gazing out the window. “Whatever happens, happens. I’m just glad to be away from the toxicity and that I’m going home. We’ll settle things one day at a time, besides we have all the time to get back at everyone.”
They shared a smile, no one wronged a Midoriya and got away with it. There’s a reason Aldera was shut down with its reputation absolutely destroyed when Izuku left to attend U.A. Midoriya Inko and her husband, Hisashi, would destroy the world for their only child.
And if anyone thought otherwise, well, there was a long list of people who disappeared and many more to go. But that was in the future, right now, the two Midoriya’s will go home and video chat their husband/father and a family even if separated, it won’t be for long.
