Chapter Text
Tomura Shigaraki watched over the populated mall with hateful eyes, sitting on a bench. A hood pulled over his head obscured most abnormalities he would usually show in public.
His hands fidgeted in his hoodie pocket restlessly, missing the hand that was usually on his face. He just had to be patient, this would all be over soon.
The villain stood up and stretched, careful not to show his face as he pulled up a medical mask from under his chin.
"Time to destroy~" he whispered to himself quietly.
Approaching a pillar to the building casually, looking up to where it held the top of the building. He smirked to himself as he discreetly placed his hand onto it with 4 fingers, counting down from 3 in his head before setting the last finger down.
Seeing the paint discolor and crack beneath his hand, he giggled; waiting a few seconds before pulling his hand back and walking off before that part of the ceiling collapsed on him.
Todoroki, who'd been at the mall with some of 1A, turned his head when he saw the beginning of the paint chipping. "what was that?"
Looking over toward the direction Todoroki was looking, Denki shrugged “Nothing good, that’s for sure..”
Todoroki sees the ceiling starting to crack, and goes into action, "Everyone get undercover!"
Todoroki froze what he could of the roof to prevent it from falling.
Ducking under, Denki shouted with widened eyes “What on earth was that?!”
"Shigaraki must be here."
A crowd of panicked civilians started to flee from the area at the sound of Todoroki's voice.
The majority of the roof collapsed as well as big parts of the pillar falling off, incapacitating a few civilians that couldn't make it out.
“We gotta go make sure everyone’s okay!”
"I'll get the left wing."
“I’ll take right?”
Kirishima broke out from under a piece of roof “Guys, what the fuck?!”
“You alright, dude?” Denki asked, glancing over his shoulder.
“I mean yeah, of course” Kirishima deactivated his quirk “Are you guys ok?”
Todoroki looked to Kirishima to make sure he'd be ok before running.
“All good, we gotta go help the people!” running off towards the rubble, Denki listened for any struggle.
“Okay, let’s go!” Kirishima activated his quirk and head towards the main destruction.
A few people called out for help near Kaminari and Kirishima. Mostly just people with arms or legs trapped under debris, which was still falling.
A civilian from just outside the destruction area had started calling 911.
Kirishima pulled out 3 people from under a piece of roof “An ambulance should be on its way, you guys should get outside!”
“I really should’ve spent more time at the gym..” Denki muttered under his breath, hauling debris from the trapped citizens.
Lumen and Lumine hear the events in the distance, after which they rush over to the location.
Todoroki started helping some of the people trapped farther out.
Kirishima saw Denki struggling and commented "You good, bro!?”
Looking over to Kirishima, Denki rubs his forehead “All good, just a bit tired.”
Kirishima gave a thumbs up to Denki and went to help more people.
Pulling a block of concrete from the pile, Denki gives a hand to a civilian that had been trapped beneath it “any sign of the LOV?”
Tomura Shigaraki slowly padded onto one of the half-collapsed edges of the small second floor, high off the ground and looking down at the heroes-in-training with interest.
Todoroki ran back to the others, "You guys got everyone over here?"
Kirishima threw a piece of roof off a small family, almost hitting Shigaraki with the rubble.
“Yeah I think so, we might need to double check on my part though” Denki replied to Todoroki.
Tomura moves out of the way of the flying piece of rubble in a slight panic, turning back to look at the students and clearing his throat quietly.
The two anthropomorphic students reach the mall and briefly check to make sure their ice cream parlour is intact, letting out a sigh of relief when they see it was okay. Lumine yelled to Todoroki "WHATS GOING ON HERE?!"
Kirishima saw Lumen and Lumine and shouted in reply "HEY BROS! A LOT!"
"I think Shigaraki is here..." Todoroki pondered.
Looking over, Denki waves at the two before looking back over the giant mass of rubble.
Tomura announced, sarcastically with a raspy voice "Ah! Nice to see the heroes are finally doing their job!"
Taking a breath, Denki walks back towards the spot they started in, looking around.
"But you aren't even real heroes yet, are you?!" Tomura smirked and laughed to himself, his voice echoing across the plaza.
Lumen stated "You're right, not yet" Lume made a sharp icicle out of the ambient moisture and threw it at Shigaraki.
Lumine urged "Woah, chill out Lume, I’d rather stay at U.A. than get kicked out for murder."
“I mean, debatable” Kirishima thought about his work with Fatgum “But whatever” He purposefully threw rubble at Shigaraki.
Tomura, yelped a bit as he just barely dodged the icicle, the ice tearing his hoodie "What is it with you heroes and focusing on hurting the villains instead of helping the victims?! There's still many I'm sure! And you ruined my favorite hoodie!"
Lumen stated sardonically in response "Nobody gives a shit about your hoodie."
“I'M MULTITASKING” Kirishima threw more rubble off of victims, saving them. He then took the rubble and threw it at Shigaraki.
Todoroki, like a smart boy, calls the cops and his father.
Tomura groaned loudly before moving out of the way of the debris and stalked away from the scene to wait outside.
Shaking his head lightly, Denki reached over to pick up a piece of rubble before stacking it on another, working his way to a deeper buried citizen.
A small echo from Tomura, a good distance away sounded "Heroes, who the hell can deal with them?!"
Todoroki used his ice to lift some debris off some victims.
Lumen and Lumine started to throw more sharp icicles towards where Shigaraki went, in hopes they'd hit him.
Ambulances drove up to the area, red and white flashing lights blaring as paramedics rushed in to assist.
Kirishima carried an unconscious victim to the ambulance, immediately after; throwing a big rock at Shigaraki.
“As.. funny as it is that you’re throwing shit at him.. a little help would be nice you guys!” Denki groaned, continuing to dig out stuck citizens.
Kirishima went back inside and broke more rubble to get people out “Hey, I am helping!....Throwing stuff is just fun.”
Lumen called out "What are we supposed to do?! Do we look like Cementoss!?"
"Kirishima, you can't randomly throw stuff, what if you injure one of the survivors?" Todoroki advised.
Kirishima sighed "Its fun , Todoroki. Besides, I have good aim”
The civilians that could walk, slowly made their way to the paramedics, the collapsing of the roof slowing to just a few crumbles.
“Well I’m not exactly a giant, but I mean you can lift up the less heavy bricks or try to keep them calm while we dig em out” Denki recommended.
Lumine takes a lighter out of his pocket and starts sprinting outside, calling out "I'll go deal with Shigi, if possible!"
Alice ran into the area as she saw the paramedics. Noticing more people stuck under debris, she rushed to help get them out.
Lifting up a rather large chunk of concrete, Denki tossed, or at least rolled it, towards the pile behind him “Why are these so heavy?”
Kirishima shattered the piece Denki was lifting “Are they?”
Todoroki commented "They ARE pieces of the mall's ceiling, so…"
Lumen commented "They don't seem that heavy to me."
Kirishima then proceeded to fist-bump with Lumen.
“Shut up you fucking dinosaur” Denki laughed, looking back at Kiri in disbelief “You have a quirk that plays to strength here”
"I'm using my ice, so I don't really feel much." Todoroki stated.
Tomura was hiding away in the parking lot for the mall, making sure he had adequate weapons on hand.
The majority of the trapped citizens have evacuated the area, whispering thanks to the heroes.
News hosts have started to crowd the area, attempting to get footage of the student-heroes.
Lumen mentioned "I'd use our quirk to help out, but all I can think of is using the ice as a really strong water pic."
“Yeah finally. I swear, I’m never useful in villain situations” Kirishima laughed half-heartedly.
“I mean, you could be a shield in practically any situation, so that’s pretty useful dude” Denki said with a huff, catching his breath.
Lumen commented "See that's the point though, who wants to be a shield? Everyone wants to get in on the action."
“Yeah, I guess so” Kirishima settled.
Todoroki mentioned, in a desperate attempt to contribute to the conversation "I... have ice?"
Alice quickly gave the citizens a nod as a 'you're welcome', then starting to try and keep the reporters at bay, by signing to them that it's dangerous.
“I mean I’d think it’d be pretty cool, I’m just a fucking game character that hurts itself mid-fight half the time” Denki laughed, getting back to checking for people in the debris.
Kirishima lightly punched Denki “Hey, you're super cool, man. Don’t doubt yourself.” He smiled and put his fist out for a fist bump.
Bumping his fist with a smile, Denki nodded “The coolest!”
Lumen encouraged "I think that being a video game character would be pretty cool! especially as one of the bosses…"
Commenting once more, "I wonder what our Boss theme would be?"
At this point, all the civilians made it out of the building, either in ambulances or standing outside idly.
Tomura made his way back to the damaged plaza, equipped with a crossbow. The crossbow was equipped as a backup, due to the rest of the LOV not showing up to help him. He glared down at the students with a hand scratching gingerly at his neck.
Todoroki just looks over at his friends, confused by their antics.
Lumine sneaked up behind Shigaraki and froze the villain's shoes to the ground, exclaiming "HAHA, BITCH!"
Tomura whipped his head around and reached to put the crossbow to Lumine's head "Stay still, or you'll be dead before you can blink"
A wall of ice shot up between Tomura and Lumine, catching the crossbow in it.
Tomura hissed as he tried to pull the weapon out of the wall and failing, disintegrating the ice at his feet instead to make an escape.
He ran and jumped onto the edge of the second floor, a part of it crumbling off where he landed. This caused Tomura to fall with it, and jump off once midway down; getting hurt once landing because of some sharp pieces of rubble stabbing him in various areas, but attempting to scramble away nonetheless.
Lumine yelled "Todo! We need fire, stat!"
Todoroki responded with a flame shot towards Lumine "Oh, sure."
Lumine proceeded to use a wall of fire to surround the area before Tomura could get out.
Tomura yelps as one of his hands meet fire at the edge, pushing himself up to his feet and scratching at his neck even more than before "Jeez...These enemies won't hesitate to do anything, will they?"
Alice tried to keep reporters back, but ultimately failed. Sucking in a deep breath, she let out her voice, though it was soft; still laced with her unforgiving quirk as she spoke.
"This area is too dangerous, please leave, it is unsafe for citizens to enter right now" she internally cringed at the sound of her voice.
Kirishima noticed Alice using her quirk and rushed over to her, signing 'You okay?'
Alice shook her head, shutting her eyes and mouth, too afraid to even say or look at the reporter's faces.
Kirishima signed in reply 'You did the right thing. Do you wanna leave, or help us with Mr.Hands?'
Alice opened her eyes to look at Kirishima, before signing 'Handy man'
Todoroki, for some inexplicable reason; walked into a McDonald's at the mall, nearby. He ordered some food, sighing in relief.
Tomura, stared dumbfounded at Shoto, yelling "Todoroki! Why the hell are you getting McDonald's?! This is a villain attack! Why won't anyone just take me seriously?!"
Todoroki walked out with a bag in hand, stating with a blank expression "Because McDonalds."
Laughing lightly from beside his pile of bricks, Denki looks over at the others “Wanna play checkers with pebbles?”
“YEA SURE BRO, ONE SEC!” Kirishima yelled in response.
Tomura groaned, facepalming as he stared at the heroes-in-training with frustration. "Okay! I'm trapped by the literal firewall! Is anyone gonna make my time worthy and fight me?!"
“I MEAN, MY BRO REALLY WANTS TO PLAY CHECKERS, SO...” Kirishima shouted in reply.
Kirishima proceeds to throw, yet another, huge ass piece of rubble at Shigaraki.
Alice approaches Shigaraki, signing to him 'Fight me, coward'
Unfortunately, Tomura does not know sign language; so he didn't do anything in response.
Tomura, instead sighed as he took out his flip phone to call Kurogiri, deciding it wasn't worth it to walk through the fire.
Todoroki turned to the villain nonchalantly as Kirishima sat down with Denki to offer advice on checkers. Todoroki asked blankly "Do you want to play checkers, Shigi?"
Baffled, Tomura gasps "Why would I EVER play checkers with a hero?! You'll probably cheat even if I do!"
Todoroki questioned "How do you even cheat at checkers ?"
Alice signed, shrugging 'Very easily, Todoroki'
Denki exclaimed "I wouldn't cheat at checkers! I'm just really bad at it!"
Tomura huffed childishly, crossing his arms "I don't know! I don't even know how to play anyways, so that's how you would cheat!"
"Do you want me to teach you?" Todoroki offered nonchalantly.
“It’s a great game! You just move the brick across the squares” Denki Denki reccomended
Kirishima threw a checkers piece at Shigaraki, which happened to be a Boulder “Come on, play checkers with us.”
Alice tilted her head and signed out 'Video games are probably his forte.' Kirishima nodded at Alice in agreement.
Shigaraki glared at Todoroki after just barely dodging the boulder "Do I look like I want to be taught anything?!"
"Well, I don't know." Todoroki first responded with, before Kirishima butted in with "You don't look like you've been taught anything. "
Todoroki mentioned offhandedly, not seeming to be heard by anyone "Listen, I've recently come to some... revelations that my formerly dead brother might be a friend of yours, so I figured I'd try to befriend those he surrounds himself with."
Tomura gasps, offended even more somehow at Kirishima's comment "Sensei has taught me many things, how dare you!"
“Sensei? Your dead father or the shadow dude..?” Denki asked.
Tomura answers Denki quickly "Neither"
'This is great, I need popcorn' Alice signed
Alice then shook her head at the three in front of her 'So...do we wait for heros or let him go?' she tilted her head slightly
Kirishima looked to Alice “I mean, unless he kidnaps one of us I think we could just let him be.”
Alice just nodded 'True.'
Tomura decides he's too frustrated and attempts to run through the fucking WALL OF FIRE to get away "At this point, Dabi's fire is worse, I can deal-"
“Yes, give the man ideas..” shaking his head, Denki stands up and grabs his phone from his pocket. "Yo, Kiri. There's a new pokemon here!"
Tomura, on the other side of the wall pats away the fire on his clothes. He winced and coughed as he inhaled smoke, sprinting out of the mall
“AYO SHIGI, LAST CHANCE FOR CHECKERS-" Kirishima called out.
“There’s a hobo escaping!” Denki yells, looking up from his phone to give chase as Kirishima and Alice follow behind. "Catch the crusty, new party game!"
Lumine attempts to encircle Shigaraki with flames Todoroki had shot out shortly before.
Tomura made it to the glass doors, finding them locked and just disintegrating it to get out as the heat got intense.
He tripped on his own feet after he was out, barely being able to get away from the burning building, which is definitely a safety hazard to everyone
As he clumsily ran, he grumbled to himself "I'm gonna have to ask Dabi on how to treat these burns-"
Todoroki yelled in response "Cold water and a lot of trauma counseling!"
Kirishima throws yet another rock at Shigaraki “Ayo, you good homie?”
Tomura growls "Can you please stop injuring me-"
Lumine stared down at the villain "Why, when we can pin it on Endeavor?"
Tomura raises his hands "Whatever, you overleveled bastards! Just stop!"
"How about, no?" Lumine stated as he waved the fires closer, which was noticably making Tomura nervous.
A loud blast shot a chunk of rubble into the air, revealing a disgruntled blonde. “The fuck is happening?!” Katsuki looked around, a sneer on his face, although he seemed more confused as some blood trickled down his face from his hairline.
Denki and Kirishima proudly welcomed Bakugo to the fight, while Alice flinched away from the loudness.
Todoroki asked "Bakugo, how are you injured already?"
“Tch, I’m fine IcyHot.” He shoots a glare, but it doesn’t have any venom behind it, red eyes taking in the scene before landing on Shigi. “Of course it’s the crusty bastard!” Small blasts coming from his hands as he stalks forward from the rubble he’d been under, still seeming to collect himself with the chaos happening around him.
Tomura grumbles as he rolls out of the way of an approaching boulder that was thrown by Kirishima "I swear to nonexistent god, just kill me if you're not gonna let me get away-"
Todoroki stated "But you're my brother's friend, I can't kill you."
A pokeball keychain was thrown at Tomura by Denki, bouncing off his head.
“Damn, let me try again” he pulled out a second, smaller pokeball keychain and tossed it again.
“What are you extras doing?!” Bakugo stalks over to Denki and Kirishima, eyeing the cart of Pokeball keychains wearily.
Stepping in front of the pokeballs, Denki squints at Bakugou “Eyes up here, buddy.”
Tomura mocks, sitting up and scratching at his neck as he glares at Bakugo "I'm at the mercy of fucking children."
Kirishima throws yet another boulder at Shigaraki, actually hitting him this time, on the head as Tomura lets out an expletive.
Tomura hissed in pain "How are you still even getting boulders- Nevermind that, maybe if you burn me quick enough my body will be subject to temperature shock and I'll pass out before I become Dabi 2.0!"
Miyazaki got word of the attack and came to assist, riding in their robot "I'm here to help" they spoke, their voice almost booming through the mask of their costume.
"Hey! Where do you need me!?" they look over to the guy that talked to them "Im Override by the way, from 1-B"
“Yeah I know you bro! You’re the dope kid from Gunheads agency” Kirishima laughed.
"Yeah! Anywho, where do you need me? Red Riot, correct? Classmate of Uravity?" Miyazaki glanced over at him.
Kirishima smiled at the mention of his hero name “Yeah!”
"Sweet! Uravity is a little badass" Miyazaki gave a slight smile, but it couldn't be seen through their mask.
“She definitely is, she’s super manly” Kirishima said with a smile and doing his signature fist bumps.
Miyazaki slightly giggled "Ready to kick some villain ass, Red Riot?"
Tomura muttered to himself frustratedly "How boring, I had special dialogue prepared for if Bakugo told me to go die..."
Bakugo shoots the villain a glare, before lurching forward to shoot a blast aimed just past the man's head. He looks away however, to see Todoroki just casually eating McDonalds. "What the fuck?! Icyhot, are you just eating?!"
Tomura groaned in reply to Miyazaki after the short 'attack' from Bakugo "There's no need to do anything. I'm incapacitated by burns, and its surprising how much time it's taking for someone to apprehend me."
Miyazaki walked over to Shigaraki and picked him up with the hand of the robot they were in "Sorry, crust man...i thought you were Dabi"
Sitting on the ground, Denki collects the pokeballs that he had thrown and stuffed them into his bag “So are we like... still fighting this dude?”
"Anywho...time to take you in for interrogation" Miyazaki spoke, looking at the Shigaraki; who looked very crisp to say the least.
Tomura looks at Miyazaki tiredly with vacant eyes "Please, my eyes are burning so much I can't see."
"Still taking your sorry ass in. Not sorry if i seem rude, im just not to keen on assholes deciding to terrorize innocent people" They gave a 'fuck you' sort of smile that couldn't been seen through the mask of their costume.
Tomura stated, unimpressed "I meant please, take me in. I can't deal with this anymore"
"Well, that's a first" They spoke, before turning around and walking towards the heard of police, holding Shigaraki in both robot hands "Your wounds should be tended to while they're interrogating you"
Tomura speaks exhaustedly "What's the point of going to a hospital if I'm gonna look like Dabi 2.0. anyways?"
"Actually, they might be able to reduce the burns pretty well. You'd be surprised at what miracles can be worked. Besides, they might even be able to help with the crustiness" Miyazaki spoke, setting Shigaraki down and the police placing him in cuffs, then paramedics start doing work, checking vitals, and getting him hooked to an iv and such "The name is Override for the record" they waved goodbye and walked back.
Todoroki walks to Shigaraki, offering "Here's some ice."
Shigaraki snaps at Todoroki "No. I know enough basic aid that ice will make this worse"
Bakugo just takes a step away, wiping the blood off his face with his sleeve. He looks kinda upset that he didn’t get to properly fight the bastard, but he just looks angry as well. “Are you extras okay?” He says, looking over at his classmates.
“We’re good bro!” Kirishima replied.
"Yes, you?" Todoroki answered.
Lastly, “I’m great! I was playing checkers the whole time anyway” Denki responded.
Tomura makes one last remark to the class before his voice cuts out "Why are y'all acting like you've been through a war, all of you besides this robot person haven't even touched me- let alone fight me-"
Tomura looked much calmer in the hands of the police rather than the heroes, ironic.
He thought to himself as he watched the scenery pass by, driving off. "At least the heroes did their fucking job this time and saved everyone…"
