Work Text:

Izuku hummed a small tune as he shoved trash inside of a garbage bag. Even though the Christmas party is already over, the teen couldn't help but to keep smiling. Everything had been so much fun. The music, the food and pastries Kacchan cooked and Sato baked, the games and movies were all such fun.

Ever since Izuku came to UA, he's had more friends than he ever did in his life. Kouta had sent him a note saying Merry Christmas and even Eri dropped by in her Santa Claus outfit! He truly was blessed to be at UA.

Katsuki was in the kitchen washing the dishes that Kaminari brought him. He didn’t even want to be at this dumb get together, he could be training or studying now.

Even so, he washes the dishes slowly, secretly waiting for the rest of the class to finish up. He looks behind his shoulder and catches a glimpse of Deku picking up the trash from the table. There’s still a few students left, Uraraka using her quirk to float the chairs and couches to their original place and Iida packing leftovers. Katsuki grunted to himself and washed the dishes he had slower.

Izuku tied the ends of the garbage bag into a small bow. "I'm going to throw it outside in the dumpster." He said, receiving a couple of hums and okays from his classmates.

Stepping outside, he slightly bristled from the cold air rippling through his clothes. With quick and speedy steps, the teen made his way to the dumpster on the side of the dorm.

Throwing the trash away, Izuku quickly walked back to the dorms, a sigh of satisfaction leaving his lips as the warmth of the dorm warmed him up. "I'll be heading to my room now. Merry Christmas and Good Night." He said, barely stifling a yawn.

"Good night, Deku-kun! Merry Christmas!" Uraraka smiled, pushing a chair in place with her hip.

"Good night, Midoriya. And Merry Christmas!" Iida waved his hands robotically.

Izuku smiled before staring at the back of Kacchan's head and turning around to head up to his room.

Katsuki overheard Deku heading to his room and began to properly wash the dishes. He sped through it, not wanting Deku to fall asleep just yet. He felt Deku’s eyes on him, but didn’t bother to turn around to meet his gaze.

He watched Deku enter the elevator from the corner of his eye and dried the last of the dishes at the same time. “I finished.” He spoke to Kaminari, who was putting away the dishes Katsuki washed.

“Okay, goodnight Kacchan!” He said, and gave Katsuki a goofy smile.

Katsuki grunted, and made his way to his own room. When he got to his room went straight to the closet, and grabbed a shoebox at the very top. He opened it and pulled out the object in the box, and wrapped it in blue and yellow wrapping paper. He gently put it in the red bag he had, and walked to his door again. He stuck his head out, making sure there was no one in the hall, and snuck over to Deku’s room.

Izuku walked into his room, the door slightly cracked open as he planted face first into his pillow. He thought he would've been bone tired by now, but yet his mind and body were restless.

Izuku eyed his balcony.

Whenever he couldn't sleep, he would usually stare at the moon until he couldn't keep his eyes open. It worked like a charm every time. Grabbing an All Might blanket and wrapping it around his shoulder, Izuku opened the door to the balcony.

Cold air seeping into his room. Slipping on some All Might slippers and stepping outside, Izuku rested his forearms on the cold railing.

Katsuki approached Deku’s door, thankfully not getting caught by any of the students. He noticed the door was still open “Idiot left the door open,” Katsuki whispered to himself before pushing the door open and closing it right behind him.

“Oi, Deku. You left your door open like a dumbass.” Katsuki announced, subtly hiding the bag behind his back.

He looked around, bombarded by All Might themed merchandise all around, but no green-haired boy in sight. “Where are you, nerd?” Katsuki said louder than before. Before he heard a response, he saw Deku’s figure standing on the balcony.

Izuku perked up at the voice and his head around, a small smile forming on his face as the wind blew through his curls. "Kacchan?" He questioned, his breath freezing in the air. "What are you doing here?" He shifted the blanket on his shoulders.

Katsuki didn’t reply at first. The moonlight made Deku’s eyes shine more than usual. The wind blowing through his hair, making his facial features stand out more than before. “I wanted to give you something.” Katsuki mumbled, and looked to the side, avoiding eye contact.

He kept the bag behind his back still. “Y’need to keep your door closed, idiot. Someone could walk in without you knowing.” Katsuki lectured, even though he himself did the exact same thing.

Izuku glanced back to his door that was now open a bit wider since Kacchan came in. He could've sworn he closed it. "You wanted to give me something?" He noticed Kacchan was hiding something behind his back. "What is it?"

Katsuki walked over to Deku to join him on the balcony. He slightly shivered as the cold air hit his skin. He hesitated before giving Deku the bag, frightened he wouldn’t like it. “Here. I found it for a good price and got it for you.” Katsuki handed the red gift bag to him, still trying to avoid eye contact.

A gift? Kacchan hasn't given him a gift in ten years. Izuku took the bag from Katsuki (who wouldn't make eye contact for some reason) as Izuku's fingertips brushed against his hand. Izuku dug through the bag until he felt something and pulled it out. His face lit up the dark night.

"Wahhh!!! It’s the super rare limited edition Silver age All Might figurine!" Izuku remembers when he cried rivers over this figurine because he couldn't get in time when he was five.

"Where did you even get this?! Wow! Thank you, Kacchan!" Izuku gave him a closed eye smile as he hugged the box to his chest.

Katsuki looked up at Deku, his outburst of words catching his attention. Katsuki watched as Deku’s eyes lit up and his smile grew brighter. He just stared at Deku, admiring how happy he looked. “It’s nothin’ special. I was shopping for stuff and I saw it on sale. I remembered how badly you wanted it, so I got it.”

Katsuki scratched the back of his neck, looking away and at the moon. He looked back to see Deku’s face squished against the box, almost crushing it from how hard he was hugging it. “Don’t freaking dent the box, nerd. I spent money on that.” He scolded, but tone soft, eyes locking on Deku’s smile.

Izuku nodded his head. This figurine will be a family heirloom just like his All Might signature. "I'll treasure it forever, Kacchan." It's a wonderful present.

"Ah. But I don't have anything for you..." For this Christmas he was Momo's secret Santa.

The moon. Izuku had the perfect view of the moon.

"I don't have any presents, but if you want we can look at the moon together, because doesn't it look beautiful tonight?" Izuku asked, pointing at the moon. "Plus, I'll get lonely out here.” His All Might blanket fluttered in the cold wind

Katsuki glanced at the moon, it was a full moon tonight. “Uh, sure, I guess.” He shut the balcony door and stood by the railing next to Deku.

The air’s getting colder. He heated up his palms a bit, but not enough to detonate. They stood in silence for a bit, the only sounds were their heavy breaths. Wait. Hold on. Wait. Katsuki processed what he just heard. “Did- did you just say the moon was beautiful?” Katsuki questioned, now properly looking at Deku.

Izuku blinked at Katsuki when closed the balcony door and stood next to him, saying nothing. A neutral look on his face. Did- did he not get it? Izuku's face slowly grew red from embarrassment.

Did he say it wrong?

It's fine! It's fine... he can just play this off.

Maybe Kacchan did get it and is pretending not to say anything. No, Kacchan wouldn't do that. Kacchan's words shot through Izuku's jumbled thoughts as his face grew more red. Izuku wonders if he touched his cheeks, would they be melting hot?

"I- I- yeah! Because- the moon is- uhm beautiful! Not- that I meant something else or anything!" Izuku stumbled over his words, his eyes looking everywhere except in Kacchan's direction. "Aha!" He felt a familiar burn in the back of his eyes, in that moment he wanted the world to swallow him whole. There's no way he's about to cry over something so... so dumb.

Katsuki didn’t know how to react, but his mind was spinning. Holy shit. Holy shit, Deku just- “NO! No. Stop freaking out.” Katsuki took notice of Deku’s face heating up, and the moonlight shone in his watery eyes.

Katsuki can feel his heart racing at this point. His hands are sweating more, and he’s afraid to talk. He (not so) subtly moved closer to Deku, arms close to touching. He still kept silent. “Deku. Calm down. I can practically hear your thoughts.” Katsuki’s voice cracked mid-sentence. He closed the space in between their arms, shoulders touching.

Izuku, in fact, did not calm down. But instead kept rambling on. "I knew I shouldn't have said it- I was just so happy and caught up in the moment! " Izuku laughed in hysterics.

"It- just slipped out! And- And I," He needs to get out of here. "I need to go walk my All Might figurines! Yeah.." Izuku hiccuped, his voice trembling with barely held back sobs. The teary-eyed male placed the All Might figurine on the railing. It was a heavy thing, so it wouldn’t be knocked off by the wind blowing.

Deku.” Katsuki firmly said.

He grabbed Deku’s wrist and spun his body so they were face to face. Katsuki took a deep breath and lifted his arms toward Deku’s face. He cupped his face with his hands on both sides and wiped his tears with his thumbs. He just stared at Deku. Gosh, he looks so pretty under the moonlight. “The moon is really beautiful.” Katsuki spoke, voice shaky and soft.

Warm. It feels like Izuku's body is on fire. Even with the wintery night, Izuku felt warm, warm, warm. Izuku felt Kacchan's calloused thumbs wipe away his tears and leaned into the touch. They stared at each for a moment in silence, and he prayed the blonde couldn't hear his heart beating like a drum. His red eyes almost seemed to sparkle in the moonlight. More tears spilled from his eyes as a choked out sob left his lips, but he smiled. "It is. It truly is." He said, as snow fell from the sky.

“Quit your crying.” Katsuki smiled softly, wiping the fresh tears falling from Deku’s face.

“So pretty” He thought to himself. He held Deku’s face a bit tighter, but not tight enough to hurt him. White was spotting over the green in Deku’s hair. “His hair is so soft,” He thought again. He leaned in a bit more. Noticing the minor features he had. “You have more freckles on your nose.” Katsuki whispered. “You’re gonna have to let me count them all one day.” He felt as if his heart was about to beat out of his chest. His palms were sweating, hopefully Deku didn’t mind.

Izuku sniffled. Even with his watery eyes he could still see Kacchan's smile, the ones that make his stomach do somersaults. He wrapped his shaking hands gently around Katsuki's wrist, basking in the warmth the blonde gave off. Izuku pressed his forehead against Kacchan, his hair surprisingly soft. He giggled softly. "Of course." Izuku doesn't think he's ever so happy before. Happier than the present he received minutes ago.

Katsuki’s breath hitched at the feeling of Deku’s hands on wrist. His eyes widened when Deku rested his forehead against his own. Deku’s body warmth overpowering the cold Christmas air. Ironic, isn’t it? He’s in freezing cold weather and underdressed, yet he feels so warm. Katsuki moved his head a bit and his eyes met with Deku’s. He gave him a soft, quick smile. “Close your eyes, I have one more present.”

Izuku laughed as he closed his eyes. "What? What is it?"

“Shush,” Katsuki whispered.

He hesitated at first, but then leaned in until their lips touched. He felt Deku jolt, but then relax into the kiss. Katsuki smiled into the kiss, cupping his face a bit tighter and pulling Deku closer. He could feel Deku’s tears on their lips, and he wiped his cheeks with his thumbs again.

It was like someone had released a giant cage of butterflies in his stomach. Kacchan's lips were rough and chapped. He smelled like cake batter. Izuku squeezed his wrist slightly as he leaned further in the kiss, a smile on his face. He pulls back after a couple of seconds. "Merry Christmas, Kacchan."

Katsuki pulled away and rested his forehead against Deku’s. “Quit looking at me like I hung the stars.” Katsuki softly laughed. He closed his eyes and enjoyed being in the comfort of Deku’s arms. He took in a quick breath, “ Merry Christmas, Izuku .”
