A Fact

Summary:

A favor for Nanami yields more fruit than Gojou thought it would.

Notes:

This is a one shot written for my writing partner. It's been a year since we started writing together and they've become a great friend.

This ended up being more family fluff than romance oops. But for once it's not angst about this pairing. Which let me tell you all my ideas for them always end up being sad.

Enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

“I need a favor.” Nanami came into their home. His voice laced with a tinge of panic. Gojou was sprawled out on a couch. Megumi passed out on his chest, a small hand gripping the collar of his shirt stretching it out. His mouth is open wide and drooling on Gojou. Besides that everything else about Gojou was perfect. Not one perfectly white hair out of place on his head.

“I’m listening.”

“I need you to go on a blind date for me. I don’t want to go.”

A beat of silence.

“Nanami-Chan ~” Nanami sighed as he watched his friend sit up, the sleeping child still pressed against him. “You’re dating and you didn’t tell me?”

Gojou’s favorite pastime was trying to get a reaction out of the serious man. It’s truly Nanami’s own fault that he is like this. All Gojou wanted was to illicit a reaction from him. The younger one knows this and heaves another long suffering sigh. As much as he says that he can’t stand Gojou he still ends up at the holder's highrise requesting favors. That was also partly because Gojou made himself one of those people that was invaluable. He didn’t want to brag, yes he did, but he was a genius.

A pompous genius at that. If it wasn’t for little Megumi and Tsumiki his ego would probably be even worse. But nothing is more humbling than your adopted kids dragging you about your cooking and your clothes. Just thinking about Megumi’s recent insult had Gojou sinking his fingers deeper into the wild black hair.

“Can we do this without teasing?” Nanami asked, moving farther into his home to sit stiffly in one of his arm chairs.

Gojou peered at Nanami before deciding to play by his rules for now, “Let me put Megumi down and I’ll be back.”

He moved down the hall to the younger’s room where their three puppies were piled on Megumi’s bed already. Gojou grinned at the memory of Megumi trying to sneak them into their home under his long yellow raincoat. The indiginat look on the toddler’s face had him caving. Tsumiki, the one in their highrise that held the brain cell, just shook her head at him. Citing that he was spoiling Megumi too much. Gojou took her on a book shopping spree after that, her wall lined with new bookcases he got from Ikea. He called in a favor for that one and had Nanami build for him.

Gojou maneuvered the young boy onto the bed tucking him in, the puppies moving around to add Megumi to the puppy pile. Pushing his fingers into the thick hair again before leaving the room quietly. He pulled out his phone to text Tsumiki to make sure she was heading home soon. She had one singular friend that lived a floor below them. Then he flopped back onto the couch and a grin on his face, he reached out for his glasses that were tinted on the coffee table. Gojou’s eyes were very light sensitive so most of his eyewear was tinted and or just sunglasses.

“Ok, I’m back. What did you need from me again?”

Nanami sighed and adjusted himself on the arm chair.

“Someone at my job--”

“That boring place you work? Told you to come work for me.”

“--set me up on a blind date and I couldn’t say no.”

Gojou shrugged, “So why do you want me to go?”

Nanami shifted on the couch again and his cheeks pinked a bit. Gojou caught every movement and leaned forward very interested.

“You finally asked the bakery girl out and now you can’t back out of this huh?”

Nanami fixed his tie with a glare at Gojou, “Yes, so will you please go?”

Gojou leaned back on the couch and draped both arms along the side of the couch taking up as much space as he could.

“Of course, you know I love collecting favors from you.” Nanami grimaced at the but stood up with a satisfied air.

“Perfect, I will text you the details. I would tell you to be on your best behavior but I know what that’s like. So don't do that.”

Gojou pouted and turned on his knees on the couch to face the door Nanami was heading toward.

“Nanami-chan you’re so mean to me. Be nicer.” Nanami slammed the door in response and Gojou felt the buzz in his pants signifying he got a message.

Pulling out his phone he leaned his elbows on the back of the couch to read the text message details. While he was going over it Tsumiki entered the house, her dark hair in two ponytails. Gojou glanced up at her with a frown on his face, “What happened to the french braids I did this morning?”

Tsumiki rolled her eyes and ignored the statement, “Where is Megumi-Chan?”

“Down for a nap, I’m going to need you to babysit Friday night.” Tsumiki’s eyes lit up her hands clasping in front of her.

“Do you have another job? Can I come?” Gojou grinned at her enthusiasm.

“Nope, doing a favor for Nanami. Plus I’ve been told by a reliable source I shouldn’t take children on my jobs.” Tsumiki frowned at that.

“That’s stupid who told you that.” She sighed and headed down the hallway. Probably to Megumi’s room to dote on him like she doesn’t always scold him for spoiling him. That 9 year old was a hypocrite.

Gojou slides down the couch and lifts his phone above his face. “Well this place is fancy, guess I get to wear my good suit.”

Gojou did put on his good suit, it was also his most comfortable suit. A steel grey suit jacket and pants that cut off just a bit above the ankles. Loafers to match and a sky blue button down to match his eyes and he left the top three buttons undone. He didn’t work out his chest muscles for no one else but him to appreciate. He had on his half moon sunglasses to filter out some of the light but to be able to give eye contact to his date.

Gojou never did anything by halves and he wasn’t going to start now.

Arriving at probably one of the most pretentious named restaurants and that’s coming from him. The Le Douche was some sort of fancy water bar restaurant. He knows the blind date had to have chosen this because Nanami would never.

Gojou went up to the hostess and gave the name the table was under. He seemed to be the first one there even though he was fifteen, fabulous, minutes late. Sitting down anyway and ordering their melon flavored water. He waited.

And waited.

Waited some more.

Checked his watch.

Waited more.

Texted Nanami about how late this person was.

Watched a cute dog video.

Waited.

Now he was irritated. It had been almost 45 minutes, technically an hour because he was late, and still no one . He was getting ready to leave, because honestly nothing sounded good, when a man about his age with two girls came to the table.

“Sorry Honey, getting Nanako in her dress was a lot more time than I thought.” That must be the girl on his hip because the other was holding on to the man's hand and she was wearing overalls.

Was Gojou being rescued?

“Can we get two children’s seats please.” The man told the waiter and Gojou finally got a good look at him.

He was wearing a baggy suit jacket that was fashionably misaligned. His suit pants were high waisted with a plain white shirt tucked in. Dark hair up in a high ponytail the slightly curl ends just skimming his broad shoulders.

Gojou decided to bite,  he put on a smile and got up to pull the chair out for the other.

“No problem, no problem. I’d wait for you no matter how long.” Maybe he was laying it on too thick. But if he had a fake husband he was going to romance the shit out of him.

The man gave him a plain smile and sat with it, he is pretty sure he said Nanako, in his lap. Swooping the other girl up under her arms and sat down with her in his lap.

“Thanks for the save,” He patted the girl on top of her head, thick like Megumis but it actually laid down flat. “Did I look like I needed saving that badly?”

The man ran fingers down the other girl's hair which was a lighter color. His sharp eyes assess Gojou a warning in his eyes about the girl in his lap. Protective, Gojou liked that in a partner.

“You’ll have to thank Mimiko,” The man inclined his head at the girl in his lap who looked up at him with a big smile. “She said you looked pathetic and I was inclined to agree.”

Gojou pouted at that tweaking the little girls nose who let out a giggle.  “I’m Gojou Satoru by the way. Can you believe this was a blind date my friend was supposed to go on and he begged me to take his place.” Giving a large put upon sign placing his chin on the child’s head. “And all this place has is water, I’m a growing boy.”

“So you are,” Those eyes slid down his form again but this time slowly. “Getou Suguru.” He introduced his voice smooth like velvet.

“What are you doing here? Family dinner?” Getou shook his head strands of his hair following the movement. “A...client of mine gave me a voucher. I don’t like to waste things but I’m not so sure about this place.”

The waiter still hadn’t even brought child seats, maybe they didn’t even have any sounds like something this place would do.. Getou picked up the menu eyes flitting over it. His face didn’t betray anything and Gojou wondered if the man played poker. Mimiko squirmed in his lap stretching her arm out for the menu. Gojou brought it closer to her. She picked it up and was trying to imitate Getou. Oh shit, that was cute.

“There doesn’t seem to be anything child friendly here.” Gojou nodded his head in agreement, “I was going to bring something back for my kiddos but it seems I’ll be stopping by a fast food place for them.”

Gojou let information slip out about Megumi and Tsumiki for a reason. Getou still seemed to be tense about him having Mimiko in his lap. Which is valid if a random person was holding his kids he’d probably be plotting their murder. But Gojou acknowledged that he was a bit of an extremist when it came to protecting his precious people.

“You have kids?” Gojou nodded, he is always prepared for this. Megumi always calls him embarrassing or whatever new word he learned in the dictionary. Either way just to mess with his kids he keeps one of those folded up wallet sized photo albums. Pulling it out and letting it unfold showing multiple photos of the kids.

“I was originally fostering them but I was able to finalize the adoption recently.” There was another flash in Getou’s eyes as he reached out for the album. Long fingers moving through the pictures. Nanako tried to raise her head enough so she could see them as well. So Getou brought it lower so she didn’t have to strain herself.

“That is very benevolent of you.” Gojou made a sound of agreement.

He found them on a job, abandoned, Tsumiki's mother missing. Megumi’s dad had lft them long ago. Gojou only found them because Megumi’s dad was the one he was tracking. He couldn’t leave them and Megumi was the only one who had family. When he reached out to them they denied his existence. Gojou almost went to war on that but Nanami talked him out of it.

“More like benevolent of them. I’m not the easiest person to live with but they sure have figured it out.”

Getou handed the photo album back and Gojou dropped it into Mimiko’s waiting hands. “I went through the same thing with these two.”

“Fascinating, two attractive men both taking care of two children out of the goodness of their own heart. It’s almost like we were fated to meet.” Gojou laid it on thick giving a wink over his sunglasses.

Getou’s plain smile changed to something more real.

“Does that normally work for you?”

“Well I’m still painfully single so you tell me.”

Getou connected his dark eyes with Gojou’s blue eyes. “How about you leave the romance to me.”

“Oh so you think you can romance me?”

“I work more with facts than theories.”

Gojou was going to continue their line of flirting but he was smacked in the face by his photo album. Mimiko gave him a ‘pay attention to me’ look. Spoiling a child was a must in his book so he looked down at her listening to the questions about Tsumiki’s braids. Not catching the look Getou was giving him.

They stuck together for the rest of the night. The dinner was disappointing and he wasn’t able to pay for his water soup. Getou slid the voucher over before he could say anything citing it would cover all of them. He walked them out to the parking lot giving Nanako a piggyback ride.

“Thank you.” Getou said softly after Gojou put Nanako into her car seat.

“No problem. I have kids to remember.” Getou’s plain smile was back, Gojou didn’t like that one, and shook his head.

“No, Mimiko lost her favorite doll to some painfully average bullies at school today. She was having a terrible day and you made her smile. So thank you.”

“Well you saved me from the humiliation of being stood up at a water restaurant,” Gojou shrugged stuffing his hands in his pocket.

It was just the two of them standing outside the car. Getou took a step closer to him; they were close to the same height so their eyes met evenly. Getou lifted his hands slowly, normally Gojou had a touch aversion to other people. Kids are fine, they don’t normally mean harm but other adults; he didn’t like it. For some reason however he let this man, he just met today, reach up and take his glasses from him.

“You have stunning eyes.” Getou murmured.

“Thanks, I grew them myself.” Getou snorted at his terrible joke before holding out his hand.

“Phone.”

With a grin he slid his phone out gracefully handing it over to the other man. Gojou watched the long fingers tap something into his phone.

“Well now I can show you how a date is supposed to go.” Getou handed the phone and glasses back to Gojou.

“Pick up when I call Gojou.” The dark haired man moved towards the driver's seat.

“I don’t normally follow anyone’s instructions but for you I will.” Getou snorted again before getting in his car and starting it.

Gojou turned on his heel and made his way back to his own car.

The next day Gojou set Megumi up at his desk in Gojou’s office. He was homeschooling the younger, Megumi was highly intelligent and his social skills with other kids weren’t great as well; many fights. So it was best this way. Plus most of Gojou’s job was combing through a paper trails. He was a private investigator for fun. His real job was being the head of his clan, playing the stock market and schmoozing with other clans heads.

That was boring and with every heiress or heir that threw themselves at him he lost brain cells. So he picked this up as a hobby and of course he wasn’t surprised that he was amazing at it. Whatever money he got he just put in the bank for Tsumiki and Megumi now. Nanami likes to point out how annoying it was that he was not only inherently wealthy but he was also independently wealthy. Gojou couldn’t help being amazing.

As he was online searching up airplane tickets. Eyes flickering over to Megumi who was practicing his sign language. His little fingers making difficult shapes but he wanted to learn after he saw Gojou sign to one of their neighbors. His phone rang and he saw it was Getou calling.

“Megumi headphones.” The boy frowned at that but still put on the headphones Gojou bought him so he couldn’t hear his conversations.

“I thought you would never call.”

“Oh why is that?”

“I thought you would be so taken in by my personality that you would have called me last night. Since you didn’t I could only assume.” Gojou grinned into the air.

“Are you always so confident?”

“What was it someone said to me last night? I work more with facts than theories.”

“So if we are both working with facts. Is it a fact that you will be coming out with me Friday night?”

“I could definitely make it one.”

“Perfect, I’ll send you the details when everything is figured out.”

Gojou kept Getou on the line for a few more minutes before the other man claimed he really needed to leave for work. He never did ask the man what he did, but that’s what a date was for. Megumi noticed that he was off the phone and the six year old took the headphones off.

“You look happy,” The high-pitched voice claimed.

“Oh do I?”

“Yes, it makes your face look stupid, fix that.”

Gojou pouted at Megumi who put his headphones back on so he could ignore Gojou and focus on the hands moving on the tablet.

“Not cute.” Gojou mumbled back and got back to his own work, while also trying to figure out what to wear for his date.

Gojou entered his home to see two new additions to his own children. Megumi was even smiling and playing with them. He looked towards Tsumiki who was doing something on her tablet. The nine year old shook her head, “I took him to the park and he made friends.”

Tsumiki was a very mature nine year old no matter how often he tells her it's fine to be a kid. Gojou is pretty sure having to be the sole caretaker of Megumi for awhile aged her. So instead of hanging out with the friends she made at school she liked coming home to take care of Megumi. He realizes how codependent it is but he can’t really talk. If he could have both of them stay home instead of school it would probably ease his mind a lot more.

Nanami put a stop to that however citing that they needed to be socialized somehow. Gojou compromised, Megumi got to stay home and Tsumiki went to school. Tsumiki can take Megumi to the park for him to socialize and Gojou can give her a bracelet and a phone that has trackers on them.

A compromise.

“Do these new friends' parents know that we have confiscated their kids.”

Tsumiki made a rude facial expression that normally doesn't cross her gentle patient face. “I’m not an idiot.”

“Ah, well Nanami will be coming over tonight. I have an engagement.”

“Does Nanami know that yet?”

“Of course not.”

Tsumiki shook her head and went back to her tablet. Gojou whipped out his phone and dialed Nanami’s phone number while taking in the new children in his house. The pink haired boy hasn’t let go of Megumi’s hand the whole time. Or maybe it was the other way around because the pink haired boy was facing the brunette girl and speaking a mile a minute . The little girl’s face was scrunched up in concentration while Megumi played with one of the puppies.

“Nanami speaking.”

“Calling in a favor, come watch the kids tonight.” There was silence on the other line for a few seconds.

“Fine.” Then Nanami hung up on him.

Such a dependable guy, Gojou is happy that he kept him around. He looked at the kids and back at Tsumiki, “Want to help me choose an outfit.” He never saw that girl get off her tablet so fast and run off to his room.

Getou said to wear something casual. Tsumiki helped Gojou pick out a black shirt with a low neck so his collarbones were on display. He wasn't a jeans person and his closet didn’t have much color which led to black slacks that slimmed and fell right above the ankle. On his feet were a white pair of ankle sneakers.

He felt very casual and even allowed Tsumiki to do his hair. She added a little braid right next to his hair. Not normally a look he would go for but she said it was like the ones he did for her as good luck. These kids really thawed his frozen heart, too bad other humans couldn’t be like them. Maybe he would like them more.

Gojou was so excited by this date that he was only five minutes late. Just enough to keep Getou wanting he hoped. Even going as far as to pick up a single red carnation; see he could be romantic. Just don’t ask all of his previous paramours.

They were meeting in front of an art museum in the middle of the city. It was easy to spot Getou towering over all the other pedestrians. His long black hair this time was in a man bun revealing the silky smooth back of his neck. It also allowed Gojou to see his ear piercings a little better. Getou was wearing black harem pants once again highwaisted. His shirt was a white cropped button down shirt with bell sleeves so he could tuck his hands in. Fashionable but simple and Gojou wondered if he worked in the fashion industry.

Gojou was walking up to him from the back. He almost made it all the way to Getou without him noticing. But he turned his head when he got close as if he noticed Gojou’s presence from afar. A small, real, smile inches its way across Getou’s face. Gojou extended the carnation with his own smile, “Couldn’t let you be the only romantic it would ruin my ego.”

Getou took the flower from his fingers brushing each other creating a spark.

“We couldn’t have that, could we?”

Getou easily snapped the stem of the carnation so that he could easily fix it into the bun on top of his head. Smooth. Gojou at the moment truly realized he may have met his match and if that didn’t excite him even more for today.

“Shall we go?” Getou inclined his head.

“Lead the way.”

Getou started walking into the art building. Not to say Gojou wasn’t into art, but he wasn’t the type of person to stare at a painting and try to derive meaning from it. He didn’t have time for things like that and there were other things that he could stare at and derive meaning instead.

They moved up to the building to see it was called the Museum of Ice Cream. Gojou did like sweets despite the popular belief of everyone around him. He was just subtle about it not wanting others to notice. Getou glance at him from the corner of his eye.

“I noticed that you liked the cotton candy flavored water that Mimiko wanted you to try than any of the others. I’m assuming I’m correct.”

Sexy, someone that uses their brains is so sexy. Physically and mentally attractive? He is going to have to send Nanami an obnoxious fruit basket for being too weak to cancel something. Because Gojou was sure benefiting from that weakness.

“So proposals, do you like public or private. Because I’m sure I could get a marching band together.”

Getou let out a bark of laughter before sliding his arm around Gojou’s waist and tugging him along. Gojou let his arm fall lazily around Getou’s shoulders. Still a little surprised with the fact he didn’t flinch with the casual touching of his person. Gojou wondered if Getou was a mind reader because the host tried to hand him things but swept in and grabbed it for him.

“You don’t like other people touching you do you?”

“I don’t. Yet you touch me so casually.”

“I figured you could stop me if you wanted to. Do you?”

Gojou only pulled him closer instead of responding as they headed towards the first exhibit.

They proceeded to enjoy their time in the facility. Rolling together in a bed of sprinkles, trying different ice creams. Gojou figured out that Getou was a very sought out art dealer and that he owned his own studio. Getou learned about his PI business and that he was also head of a big clan. It was all very informative. They shared stories about their kids and their lives before the kids.

Gojou should be arrested for cliches because he definitely pushed Getou’s cone in his face on purpose so he could clean him up. Pictures were taken and hands were held. They exited the facility milkshakes in hand back to the original position; Getou’s arm around Gojou’s waist and his draped over his shoulders.

“It’s nice.” Getou started and Gojou hummed for him to continue.

“Going on a date and not worrying about if this person would love or hate my daughters or if they would hate them.”

Gojou understood that he never introduced anyone to his kids. Way too protective but they already got half of it out of the way with their first meeting.

“I want to say don’t hold your breath because Megumi is prickly. But he’ll probably like you a lot more than he likes me.”

Getou bumped their hips together, “I’ll take that challenge.”

Gojou’s breath caught in his throat, that means Getou thought this date went well enough that he wouldn’t mind continuing this.

“Yeah?” He said breathlessly.

Getou laughed again before reaching up and pulling Gojou’s face down the pointer finger and thumb on the sides of his chin.

“Yeah.”

Their lips connected the coffee flavor of Getou’s milkshake mixed with Gojou’s. Gojou’s hand slipped to the back of Getou’s neck tugging him in closer. Chasing the flavor, wanting to consume everything about Getou right then and there. Gojou didn’t care about how the public would perceive him. Getou however seemed to have more restraint than him and broke away from the kiss. Not without tugging at Gojou’s bottom lip with his teeth, a tease.

“I don’t put out on the first date.”

Gojou almost, almost , whined.

“However, the twins are at sleepover tonight and I make great tea.”

“Making out is on the table?”

“That’s a fact.”

Gojou sent a text to Nanami to expect him late and he followed Getou home like a lost dog. He didn’t stay the night but he definitely was able to leave his mark on Getou.

Gojou woke up the next day thinking about strong thighs that were hidden by baggy fabric and the lean and smooth back muscles that his fingers were only allowed to graze. Just thinking about it had his hand travelling down his chest towards his nether regions when his door burst open to show Megumi and Tsumiki.

He sighed the hand didn't even make it past his abs and now any arousal he had was gone. The duo crawled into his bed one on either side of him.

“I thought we slept in on saturdays.” He heard the pitter patter of 3 sets of doggy paws come into his room. All three of the puppies struggled up onto his bed. Gojou was in the middle of his own puppy pile.

“We want to make waffles.” Megumi said with a yawn, Tsumiki and the puppies copying him.

“How about we sleep for a little longer and when we wake up we can make waffles.”

Apparently that was a good idea because the kids didn’t complain and fell asleep quickly. Both of them cuddled a puppy, one of Megumi’s hands reaching out to grasp his shirt like always. Gojou had a present enough mind to grab his phone to take a selfie and send it to Getou.

Getou liked the photo and sent back his own selfie. It looked like he woke up early to pick up the twins.

Sucker, I get to sleep in. ~ Gojou

Jokes on you we are getting breakfast shortcake. ~ Getou

Getou sent another photo of Mimiko and Nanako both cutting into a strawberry shortcake. Gojou sent off a pouting face before shutting the phone off and sinking into the warmth of his little family. His last thought was that he was going to have to buy a bigger bed if their family was going to be expanding.
