Chapter Text
Aizawa sighed as he walked across the edge of the roof. Soft breeze caressing through his hair. The night has been quiet. Too quiet if he was being honest.
He tugged at his capture weapon as he crouched down. Looking down at the darkness of the streets. Sidewalks. His sight had no problems allowing him to see through the darkness.
That's how he saw the drunk man struggling to open a car that was. Without a doubt. Not his.
So much for a peaceful night.
He climbed down the building with the stealth of a cat. Landing on the alley. Fingers gripping his capture weapon. He could hear the man muttering nonsense to himself.
-Excuse me sir. I must ask of you to step away from that car.
-Huh?!- The man turned towards Aizawa with such a feed up gaze.- This car is mine!
-Where's the key then?- Asks the erasure hero raising an eyebrow. The man had no key. He was plainly trying to force the door open.
Those words didn't seem to settle good with the man because he lunged for Aizawa who jumped out of the way in time to avoid a sad excuse of a punch. The man's drunk ass prompting this one to trip with his own feets and crash on the floor.
Aizawa sighed.
He didn't got paid enough for this.
As he crouched on the floor in order to check if the man was still breathing and hadn't killed himself a fist lunged towards him out of nowhere. Connecting with his cheek. Aizawa fell on his backside out of surprise as he stared at the man's now turned water fist.
-Hah!- The man looked up at him. And the second his eyes fell on Aizawa's badly covered cheek his eyes widened.
Before Aizawa could react the huge man brought himself up with his hands and grabbed the erasure hero's shoulders. Slamming him against the ground and fingernails clawing at his cheek. Making Aizawa start struggling as a pained hiss left him. Erasure flashing on.
-I can't believe there's still one of you around!- Cried the man as his hands went for Aizawa's throat. The erasure hero managed to kick the man in the crotch. Making this one's hand change trajectory.
He then took advantage of that to headbutt him straight on the nose. The sickening crack of his nose breaking being followed by the man's cry of pain as he got off Aizawa. Hands against his face.
Aizawa took that opportunity to run off. Cheek stinging. Throbbing with pain. He ran as fast as he could. Faster than he had done in ages. Getting into U.A. on record time.
Panting as he came to a halt infront of the gates. Legs shaking. Right. This was why he kept his running at bay.
His legs couldn't keep up with that strain.
It took him a moment to regain his breath and when he did he sneaked inside. Hands pulling his shirt up to press it against his cheek. Hissing as he did so. His walk towards the dorms was spent cursing at the man.
A part of him hoping for the man to keep his mouth shut. The other part telling itself that even if he spoke no one would believe him. A drunk idiot claiming to have seen something that no longer-
Anyways.
No one would believe him.
He climbed up the stairs of the dorms. Grabbing the doorknob and twisting it. Pushing the door open. Thankfully the kids had choose to not have a sleepover at the living room. He didn't need potential viewers.
Closing the door behind him he disappeared through the darkness of the hallway.
Locking himself in his room and releasing his shirt. Walking up to his bathroom and switching the light on. He stared at himself in the mirror. Wincing as he did so.
The bastard had teared a few scales. Leaving raw skin behind. He grabbed the first aid kit. Taking it up to himself to attend his wounded cheek. Each hiss accompanied by a new curse towards the man.
As he finished dressing the wound he climbed on the bed. Faceplanting on the pillow with a sigh. Wincing as he did so but also ignoring the pain that that brought to him.
A knot was tight in his chest.
It had been so long since someone knew about this.
He felt uneasy at the knowledge that someone had found out.
But all he could do now was trust that that drunk man wouldn't be a problem.
With that in mind he allowed sleep to take him.
~
Aizawa woke up earlier than usual. Groaning as he rolled on the bed. He sat at the edge of the bed for quite a while. Just staring at his boots laying on the carpet. Hand pressing against his cheek.
It had healed already.
He tore the gauze off his cheek. Wincing at the cursed tape.
After a quick trip to the bathroom he stepped out of his bedroom. Rubbing the back of his hand against his eye as he walked towards the common room. As he got closer he was able to make out a scandal.
Seriously. Who even was that lively in the morning? Not even Mic was that energetic in the mornings.
Yet as he got closer he was able to make words out.
Words from the TV.
Of a man claiming to have found a "bastard with fins".
And as Aizawa stepped into the common room it was to see the same man from last night shouting at the cameras. Open palm holding three of his scales.
Aizawa's stomach clenched at the sight.
-They look real to me!
-They are fake!
"I tell you they are real! The bastard with fins is one of U.A.'s bastards! The underground one! EraserHead!"
Aizawa's heart halted at those words. Life flashing before his eyes as he felt the knot in his throat tighten so hard he almost threw up. Stomach flipping as terror started seeping into his core. He can't hear a word about the rest. Can't feel at all. Floor swaying beneath his feets.
Because he had been found out.
Exposed.
Found out. They found out. Hiding for so long and he had been found out. He was gonna be sent back. Killed in the best of scenarios. No! He didn't want to go back! He didn't want to go back! He had to get out of here before it was too late! Had to run! Escape! Hide!
And thus he turned tail around and bolted.
Just that life hates him so much that he ends up getting a cramp mid run and crashing on the floor. So close to his room yet so far. And he can't breathe. Limbs shaking as he sits up. Knee throbbing. He can't feel his toes. All he can feel is himself shaking. Lungs constricting and chest tight.
And the fact that he can't breathe.
He tried and tried to take a breath but all he got was useless air that refused to do something. He couldn't breathe. He couldn't breathe and he was gonna be sent back. Chained. Cut. Mocked. He was gonna be sent back. Back into hell. Back back back back! He didn't want to go back! Anything but that!
Fingers gripped his chest as he coughed. Sucking in a sharp breath and once again failing to get oxygen. The air felt thick. Acid. It hurt to breathe. Lungs constricting. Chest tight.
And he couldn't fucking breathe.
He could hear voices. Muffled. Muddled.
And he still couldn't breathe!
But even in his unfocused state he managed to feel a hand getting close. Touch touch pain. His claws made their apparition and he took a swing at the person infront of him. He wouldn't let them take him. He wouldn't let himself be taken again. Rather die than allow that. He was sick of being people's lab rat.
Now if he just could take a goddamn breath.
But at least the person didn't attempt to touch him again. Good.
Yet what was that important for when the world went black around him?
~
That man's words had struck Class 2-A quite hard. Because what?
EraserHead?
That wasn't.... it couldn't be because-
That's when the group took notice of the erasure hero standing right at the hall looking like he was having a full on life crisis.
Frozen in place.
He didn't seem to be quite there. If all. He seemed to grow more and more panicked with each passing second. He looked honestly terrified.
Something that didn't settle well with the class. Having never seen such emotion on the man's face.
But before anyone could say a word he bolted.
It took the class a moment to react and go after him.
Mortified themselves. Brains still in loading.
And as the group got to the teachers' side of the dorms it was to find the erasure hero on the floor shaking like his life depended on it. Breathing erratic. Almost gasping.
He couldn't breathe.
Yaoyorozu was at his side in less than a second.
-Sensei? Can you hear me? You have to calm down. No one is gonna hurt you. You are safe here. You have to calm down. Take deep breaths.
Yaoyorozu's words fell on deaf ears because he seemed to get even more agitated with each passing second.
It was kinda frightening to see him so out of it when he had always been so composed. Never letting anything get to him.
And now...
Yaoyorozu tried to touch him in hopes to get him to react. All she got was a lethal set of claws to almost meet her face if it wasn't for her quick reflexes.
And then Aizawa fainted.
Yaoyorozu got her hand near his face. Wanting to make sure he was still breathing.
He was.
-Can someone pick him up? The floor isn't good for him.- She tells still with her heart on her throat. Staring at his hand. Claws having retracted back.
It was true.
If Aizawa's panic attack hasn't been proof enough those claws definitely had been.
Shoji was the one to approach the unconcious hero. Crouching on the floor. Careful as he picked him up. The man's forehead against his bicep let him know just how cold his skin was. Aizawa had never been one to allow people to touch him. He seemed to avoid contact like the plague itself.
So Shoji made sure to make it quick as he walked back to the living room. Placing the man on the couch as Kaminari turned the TV off.
-What do we do?- Wonders Sero out loud. The whole group staring at the erasure hero's chest. A bit freaked out at the fact that he had sound like he couldn't actually breathe.
His question went unanswered.
Because good question.
What the fuck would they do?
So much people was gonna come after him to do God knows what sort of shit. So much shit has been done before to his kind. And how the fuck did he manage to hide so well for so long?
Fuck.
He wasn't AllMight. AllMight Protection Squad's plan wasn't gonna work on him. How the fuck were they suppose to protect him? That wasn't possible with him. It wasn't-
No.
It was possible.
It had to be.
He had always found a way to protect them. No matter from what or who Aizawa had never failed to protect them. Help them. Be there for them.
It was their turn to protect him.
Even if that meant going against the world itself.
Because he would do the same for them.
Because he wasn't something people could just come and take shit from.
He wasn't a thing.
He was a person.
Someone who deserved to be alive and left in peace like everyone else.
~
Aizawa woke up to a sore chest. Fingers twitching as he heard whispers dancing across.
He had been found out.
That was his first thought and with that thought in mind he shot up into a sitting position. Backing off when he noticed the group too close. No one should be close. No one should be this close. Dangerdangerdangerdanger-
The sudden knock at the door made him flinch. Blood running colder than it already did. He felt a hand grab his wrist. Yanking him up with such force he almost lost his balance. A bush of green told him who was the one pulling him towards God knows where. He didn't knew nor cared.
All he knew was that he had fucked up.
Even more so when he found himself being shoved into a small room he didn't even knew existed.
He tried to open the door just to find this one locked.
-Midoriya.- His voice came out foreign to him. Small.- Open the door.- He sounded anxious as he tried to open the door. He failed.
Miserably.
He could break through it but he feared what that would bring him.
So all he did was lean back. Darkness surrounding him. And as he touched around him it was to find the place to be a cramped one. His breath hitched. Heart starting to accelerate along with his breathing.
His chest hurt as he pushed at the walls at his sides. He could feel them closing around him. Squeezing. Suffocating. Dark. So dark. Small. Cramped. Just like that tank. Like the lab. Like the sea. Cold. Dark. Unforgiving. He was alone. Alone. And it didn't matter how much he screamed and called he was alone. All alone.
His voice stuck in his throat as fingers gripped his hair. Face hidding between his knees and breathing growing laboured. Walls crushing him. Coldness licking his bones.
T̸o̸d̸a̸y̸ w̸e̸ s̸h̸a̸l̸l̸ w̸o̸r̸k̸ o̸n̸ y̸o̸u̸r̸ s̸p̸e̸e̸c̸h̸.̸
He curled in on himself. Tighter. Shaking. Begging the voices to shut up.
H̸e̸ h̸a̸s̸ g̸o̸t̸t̸e̸n̸ q̸u̸i̸t̸e̸ a̸d̸v̸a̸n̸c̸e̸d̸ w̸i̸t̸h̸ t̸h̸e̸s̸e̸ g̸a̸m̸e̸s̸.̸
-I'm not an animal.
W̸e̸ m̸a̸y̸ n̸e̸e̸d̸ m̸o̸r̸e̸ t̸e̸s̸t̸s̸.̸
-No.
H̸o̸l̸d̸ h̸i̸m̸!̸
-Stop.
S̸h̸u̸t̸ u̸p̸ a̸n̸d̸ g̸o̸ t̸o̸ s̸l̸e̸e̸p̸!̸
-Please stop.
U̸s̸e̸l̸e̸s̸s̸ f̸i̸s̸h̸ s̸h̸u̸t̸ u̸p̸.̸
-Let me go.
His voice cracked at the end. Thick. Wavering. Small. His shoulders wouldn't stop shaking. Because he was gonna be sent back.
Back to being treated like nothing but an animal.
His group was a bunch of teenagers of course they more than anyone wouldn't waste the chance of gaining money through him.
It didn't matter.
He had known this could happen.
Then why?
Why did it hurt so much?
Why did it felt so painful to his chest the idea of his class betraying him?
He couldn't understand.
He just couldn't.
On the why would they betray him.
~
When Aizawa shot up looking so frantic and backing off from them the class hasn't had a single second to calm him down before a loud knock came from the door. Panic gripped their souls and Deku took a leapt over the fucking table. Grabbing Aizawa's arm. Pulling him with him.
After AllMight's identity was revealed Class 2-A hadn't just made a plan on how to protect him if things were to go to fuckland.
They also with Yaoyorozu and Iida's help made a small hidding place behind a bookshelf.
One no one but the class knew about.
Deku pushed the bookshelf quite fast. Opened the door and shoved Aizawa inside. He knew the man wasn't calm right now and as much as he wished to explain things to him he couldn't. He had to hide him.
Because if he didn't people would take him.
And the class couldn't allow that.
Over their dead bodies would that happen.
As he came back to the living room using full cowl it was in time to see Iida opening the door.
Hound Dog was the one there. Their blood ran cold. Of all heroes this was the one who no one could hide from.
-What do you want?- Snaps Kirishima defensively. Shoulders drawn back.
-I'm here for Eraser. He-
-Like fuck you are taking him!- Cut off Bakugou harshly. Explosions crackling in his palms.
-Kid. That's-
-No! We won't let you take him! I don't care if you are a hero or a teacher you will have to kill us first if you want to take him!- This time Ashido was the one to interrupt him.
-I'm not-
-You have been a teacher here with him for years! You have no right to betray him like that just because of what he is! Aren't you suppose to be on his side?!
Hound Dog was starting to get a bit pissed off at the constant interruption. Though a part of him felt calmer to know these kids could bring their claws out against their superiors without a second thought if that meant keeping the erasure hero safe.
Yet. He didn't had time for this.
-We-
-SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO ME!
Hound Dog's loud eruption of words got the group flinching. Heart skipping a bit out of fear.
-I'm not here to take him. Nedzu needs to see him. There's a hoard outside.
-What?
~
-There's a hoard outside.
The second those words leave Hound Dog's mouth the second the class freezes. The what now? That fast? People didn't even knew if that was true! How the fuck was a hoard outside already?!
-Nedzu wants to speak with Aizawa ASAP. He sent me to get him. Where is he?- Asks Hound Dog. Eyes narrowing suspiciously.
-I will bring him.- Tells Midoriya. The rest keeping an eye on Hound Dog as the green haired teen disappeared down the hallway.
Izuku's walk is quick. Pushing the bookshelf out of the way before opening it.
Aizawa was curled up. Face hiding. Shaking. He could hear his breathing once again laboured. Head raising the second he heard the door open. The look he gave him would haunt Izuku for the rest of his life.
He was scared.
Of him.
-Sensei? Sensei I'm sorry. I didn't meant to lock you here.- He apologized as he knelt infront of the agitated looking man. Said action prompting the erasure hero to flinch away from him. Erasure flashing on. He looked ready to kick Midoriya if he was to get any more closer.
Izuku raises his hands in a peace mannerism. Making himself look as non-threatening as possible.
-Sensei... I promise I won't hurt you. I would never hurt you. None of us would.- Assures Midoriya. Voice honest. Firm.
Aizawa doesn't seem as convinced. Glowing red orbs staring back at him. Wary. Defensive.
Alert.
-I locked you here because this was the safest option to keep people from finding you. I'm sorry I didn't explain it through but we were scared that whoever was knocking at the door would try to take you away.
Aizawa stares at him for a full minute before erasure shuts off. He still looks alert though. Still looks ready to kick him.
-Hound Dog is here. He says the principal wants to speak with you.- Tells Izuku after a moment. Voice hesitant. Aizawa nods.
Shouta knew.
That he was in deep shit.
That he would hold so much luck if he wasn't to be sent back.
As Midoriya gets out of the way he wastes no second to crawl out. Heartbeat still accelerated. Limbs still shaking. He didn't trust the kid's words entirely but he would give him the gift of the doubt since he looked so.... genuine.
He doesn't walk infront of Midoriya Izuku. Of all his students this one was the last one he wanted walking behind him right now. He follows the teen into the living room where Hound Dog stood at.
-You stay here.- Tells Hound Dog when he notices the group is about to follow them.
-Like fuck we are!
-We don't know what you may do to him!
The class didn't want to leave Aizawa alone. Didn't trust to lose sight of him.
Hound Dog gives them a fierce look that makes their skin crawl.
-Kid. If someone tries something against him there will be no force on this Earth to stop me from tearing them apart myself.
Those words should by no means appease the class.
But they do.
And so they watch Aizawa leave with Hound Dog.
-We should start thinking a better plan than just lock him up.- Kirishima's words are met with nods.
~
Aizawa walked at a considerable distance from Hound Dog. He wasn't sure what Nedzu wanted. It made him anxious. It made him want to run. Escape. Hide before it was too late.
But where would he go?
The world knew his face now and there was no way he was going back to the ocean. Rather die.
And oh fuck what was he suppose to tell Mic? Was he mad? He sure was. He lied to him. Now he would leave him like everyone else always did. He was lucky though.
That he didn't allow himself to get so attached with the blonde man.
It won't hurt.
He didn't care.
Lies.
He didn't want Mic to leave him.
Didn't want him to abandon him too.
Hound Dog for his side was still unable to grasp this situation at all. Of all things he expected to find on TV was for a man to be claiming something about having found a "bastard with fins". Showing off the "real" scales he had gotten from him.
And then he mentioned U.A.
EraserHead.
That was a dangerous accusation.
Both because people would get all chaotic against the school and because Aizawa's safety could be put in serious danger.
He wasn't sure if it was true though.
Merpeople didn't exist anymore.
Hadn't been seen in centuries.
Still. He couldn't help but glance back at the erasure hero over his shoulder. Looking him from head to toe.
The man looked normal to him. Had no strange scent at all on him aside from the pinch of salt. He had never given it too much thought. Just thought him to be one of those people who ate a lot of salted stuff.
His head was bowed down as he walked. If it ended up being true he had a feeling things would get chaotic. So much could go wrong.
As he keeps staring at him he notices the way he holds himself. Tense. Shoulders drawn closer. His body language conveys more than the man himself must realize. And Hound Dog finds that despises it.
Aizawa Shouta was one of the strongest men he knew. One of the best heroes out there. The idea of him being scared made anger bubble up inside him. An almost overwhelming need to protect tightening inside his chest.
As he had told the group.
He would tore apart whoever dared to touch a single hair of him.
~
Aizawa felt his muscles tense up in expectation. Stomach contracting as both of them came to a halt infront of Nedzu's office. And as Hound Dog opens the door it's to reveal the whole staff to be in there.
He bristles. Resisting the urge to step back and run. Run as fast as he can and never look back.
Yet he doesn't allow it to happen. Because again. Where would he go to?
Instead he steps inside. Avoiding Mic's gaze and keeping his anxious self in a tight hold. He wasn't gonna let it show. He could do this. He could still lie.
-Please do take a seat.- Nedzu's voice is inviting. Calm. But that's not what makes Aizawa sit down.
He does it because he knows he has no option.
Because even if he was to stand he would have not a single chance to overpower so many heroes at once.
-Tea?- Offers the principal. Smile plastered on his face. Aizawa shakes his head in a no motion. Right now he didn't trust a single item related to food given to him. Who knows what drugs or poison it could wield.
He tries to keep a relaxed air. But he fails at some points. Shoulders tense and he couldn't for the life of him stop fidgeting.
To be honest it was amazing how he even managed to hide this for so long from Nedzu. From Recovery Girl. It had taken a tool on his side to tamper with blood samples. X-rays. So much medical shit. But he hadn't cared if that meant keeping the fact that he wasn't human hidden.
He had been so naive.
To think he could hide forever.
-Aizawa. You must be aware of the reason I asked for your presence. Now. I know lying sounds like the perfect option for you but I'm afraid I can't tolerate that right now. I must know the truth if I am to confront the media and the public. If you refuse to cooperate I'm afraid I will see myself in the need to force you.
Of all things the one Nedzu hated the most above all was threatening people into forcing them into some kind of medical procedure. It made him feel nauseous. Sick.
But if he wanted to keep Aizawa safe he had to know the truth. Had to know who he was protecting. How to proceed with things. Because the last thing he wanted was for someone to come and snatch someone from his staff. No one touched what was under his care.
Less much one of his favorite people.
Aizawa for his side grew even more tense at those words. Biting the inner side of his cheek until the taste of copper coated his tongue. Soothing him. Calming him a bit.
He didn't want to answer.
But the idea of getting forced down into a medical table. Blood drawn from him. It made him feel dizzy. Almost nauseous.
-I...
His ears clogged as he tried and failed to come up with an answer. Cold sweat trickling down his spine as he looked down on his lap. He had to keep calm. Couldn't allow himself to appear weak.
-It's true.
It was almost laughable how those two single words made him grow even more anxious. Fidgeting. Keeping his head bowed in order to not meet their faces. He didn't want to see. Didn't want to know. He glanced at their legs though. Counting them. Making sure to know their location. Their proximity.
If things came to worse he could use his voice. Could destabilize them for a while while he escaped.
But was it worth it?
He had nowhere to go.
And he didn't want to hurt them.
Didn't want to hurt Mic.
~
-It's true.
The second those words leave Aizawa's mouth the second the whole room grows deadly silent. A pin drop could be heard.
A few of them had expected it to be lie. Because merpeople weren't real. Didn't exist. Hadn't done in ages. Another few had expected it to be a misunderstanding. Some kind of prank despite the fact that this was Aizawa who they were speaking about.
But to hear it from him.
That that lunatic had been right.
It made a lot of questions explode inside them.
Looking at him from head to toe. Searching. Searching for what? The staff wasn't sure. He looked normal. As odd as he was no one had ever given it too much thought. Aizawa didn't look at all like one of those.
Though it would explain his distance with them. Never allowing people to get close to him. It was a wonder how he even was in a relationship with Mic. And even then he still had a wall around him.
A wall to protect himself from potential threats.
If the way he was looking at each one of their legs was something to go for for him all of them were nothing but threats.
Threats to look out for.
He didn't trust them. The staff had known it. That the erasure hero didn't trust people. Didn't lower his guards around no one.
Not even around Mic nor Midnight who were the closest to him.
But to have actual so explicit proof of it felt heart wrenching.
Because no one should live such a life. A life full of mistrust. Of seeing every single person as a threat. An enemy.
The sight of a fidgety and anxious Aizawa wasn't a comfortable one. It felt so wrong in so many levels. But the knowledge that he saw them all as people to be wary of felt even more awful.
Recovery Girl wasn't quite sure what to think of that. Because now it became clear to her why Aizawa avoided hospitals even if he was at death doors. Escaped hospitals whenever he had the chance.
And a part of her. Hidden. Deep. Couldn't nor wanted to understand the reason behind his clear discomfort towards needles. Blood tests. Even if he had wanted to keep his identity hidden there had been no reason for him to be so distressed.
So scared.
Of all people Aizawa seemed to trust her the less. If all. She would go as far as saying that to him she was the person to be must wary about.
And that didn't settle good with her.
Nedzu for his side hummed.
He had known that there was something about this human that felt off. Why he felt more relaxed around him.
Aizawa Shouta's behavior towards people in general along with his current behavior opened a new door to Nedzu. One too close to home.
This one.
He couldn't allow people to touch this one.
Couldn't allow them to get their claws on him.
Because this person was the same as him.
And he would be damned if he was to allow him to go back to that sort of life.
-Did someone knew about this before?- Nedzu still needs to ask questions. Needs to approach this situation carefully if he wanted things to turn out good. But even if he asks that Present Mic's face tells him not even him had known about this.
-No.
-Has someone ever grown suspicious of it?
-Not that I know of.
-Has someone ever found out before?
-No.
The more questions Aizawa answered the more anxious he grew. Hand rubbing against his pants. Eyes wandering around. Heartbeat unstable.
He wants to leave. He doesn't want to be here. Doesn't want. Can't be here. Because he can feel the stares. Can feel their racing thoughts. He can't stand this. He wants to leave. Leave. Hide. Hide until no one can find him. Hide so people will forget about. Hide hide. He doesn't want to be here. He wants to leave. Leave.
Leave before Mic leaves him.
Yet Nedzu's next question freezes him.
-Would going back to the ocean be a viable option for you?
That question hits a sensitive nerve. Chest growing tight as his stomach clenched. And suddenly all he can think about is how cold the ocean is. How dark.... All he can hear is the voice of a child screaming their lungs out in the darkness of the sea. The void staring back. Silent. So big and dark. Deep.
Empty.
His voice doesn't come out. It won't come out no matter how much he wills it to.
Nedzu doesn't force the answer out.
Because he can see it.
Aizawa's face answers for him.
-I promise I will solve this. There's nothing for you to worry about. For the time being I must ask of you to not leave the school grounds. Right now this is the safest place for you.
Aizawa doesn't say anything at that. He just nods.
Safe?
He was safe nowhere.
But he let the rat believe what he wanted.
He better than anyone knew that "this is the safest place for you" was nothing but a lie.
Sooner or later things would go wrong.
Safe places for him didn't exist.
Trustworthy people didn't exist.
Just liars.
He didn't meet anyone's gaze as he walked out of the office. He didn't want to speak with anyone. Didn't want to hear what their lies may be.
The only person he could trust was himself.
It had always been like that and it would always stay like that.
His walk towards the dorms is a quick one. All he wants is to hide in his closet and plead for all of this to be a nightmare. But the second he opens the door the second his class surrounds him.
-Are you okay?
-Are you hurt?
-Did they do something?
Those questions catch Aizawa off guard.
They are concerned. For him.
That was a first.
-I'm fine.- Is Aizawa's plain answer as he walks past the group. Avoiding touching them by accident with a masterful ability.
He couldn't get why would they act concerned towards him. What did they want? Did they expect to get on his good side by acting like they cared? He wasn't gonna give them anything.
Not a single thing.
No matter how much he seemed to favour them over his previous classes.
~
The class watches Aizawa disappear through the hallway. Fingers twitching.
And after the group makes sure he has left papers are pulled from under the cushions.
Handmade blueprints of the school.
Scattering them once again across the floor and coffee table.
This was something no one could see.
Something they had. Needed to make right.
Because even if Aizawa could defend himself that didn't meant the class was gonna allow that that situation of "Defending himself" had to occur.
The group was gonna take down whoever dared to approach him.
Because the idea of Aizawa getting taken was terrifying.
More than what they were willing to admit.
