Work Text:

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Sam groans as soon as he feels the first snowflake fall on his nose. Of course it’s going to start snowing when he goes out. He’s spent a week in his house dealing with a heat by himself, and now that he’s recovered and able to get out of the house again, all he wanted to do was to get some coffee and donuts. He was supposed to be gone for less than an hour.

Sam pulls out his phone to call his best friend, Natasha, but of course she doesn’t answer his call.

This is just his luck. This is why he refuses to leave the house.

Sam glances around for a moment. There’s still at least five minutes until he gets to the local coffee shop, and he really doesn’t want to walk when it’s starting to snow. He should have brought a jacket, but he didn’t think to look at the weather on his app to know if it would snow or not today.

Sam is too lost in his thoughts to even hear the footsteps approaching from behind him. He gasps when he suddenly feels a pair of arms wrapping around him behind, and immediately goes to fight whoever it is, thinking it’s some creepy Alpha wanting a piece of him. Sam does not let Alpha’s walk all over him.

“Hey. Hey! Relax. It’s fine. I just wanna help you warm up,” the man says, keeping his arms around Sam.

“Yeah, I bet you do!” Sam retorts, still struggling to escape the Alpha’s grip.

“No, dumbass. Heat from an Alpha will help you warm faster,” the man retorts, his grip loosening up though he keeps his arms around Sam. Sam instantly stops struggling, and glances back at the Alpha, and his eyes widen when he sees that it’s none other than Tony Stark.

“Oh,” he breathes, earning a soft chuckle from the Alpha.

“Yeah, oh. Listen, I get why you freaked out. I’m not mad. I just need you to trust me,” Tony says.

“You know, that’s asking a lot coming from a strange Alpha I don’t know,” Sam huffs.

“Really? You don’t know who I am?” Tony asks, raising his eyebrows at Sam.

Sam glances over at the Alpha, and still doesn’t recognize him. “No? Am I supposed to know who you are?”

Tony chuckles. “Does the name Stark ring a bell to you?”

“You’re Tony Stark? Hm. Well, that makes sense,” Sam replies. “How did you know I was an Omega?”

“Lucky guess,” Tony retorts, grinning when Sam rolls his eyes. “Can I ask why you thought that it was a smart idea to come outside during the winter season? You could have frozen yourself to death.”

“In my defense, I just got out of a miserable week-long heat by myself and I wasn’t exactly thinking about whether or not it would snow today. I just wanted to go outside,” Sam argues.

“A week-long heat by yourself? You’re a brave Omega,” Tony says, impressed.

“Some people would call it stupid,” Sam grumbles.

“Hey, I’m not one to judge. I’m sure you have your valid reasons,” Tony shrugs his shoulders. “Hey, uh, you’re going to freeze out here without a jacket on. My car’s right there. I can take you to my building-”

“No, thanks. The coffee shop is just five minutes away. I’m pretty sure I can make it,” Sam replies.

“You still don’t trust me?” Tony asks, frowning.

“Hey, your name may be recognizable but you’re still a stranger to me. Stranger danger?” Sam smirks.

Tony rolls his eyes. “Okay then, at least let me drive you to the coffee shop. You’re going to Barnes’?”

“Natasha would hate that you called it that, but yeah. But, you promise not to pull any funny business? Because, one wrong move and I promise I will kick your ass, Stark,” Sam warns.

“I believe it,” Tony chuckles. “Come on. I promise no funny business.” He holds his hand out, and watches as Sam hesitates before grabbing it. Tony smiles, and leads the way over to his very expensive car.

“Thank you,” Sam says when Tony opens the door to the backseat for him. He gets into the car. He looks up and sees that there’s a driver in the driver’s seat. Sam looks over at Tony curiously. “Seriously?”

“Did you expect anything less? Scoot over,” Tony says, gently nudging Sam out of the way.

Sam rolls his eyes and scoots onto the seat.

“Happy, take us to Barnes’ coffee shop, will you?” Tony asks as he shuts the door. He sighs as he looks over at the Omega, and watches as he puts his seatbelt on. “You never told me your name.”

Sam looks up at him. “Oh, uh... My name’s Sam. Sam Wilson,”

“Sam Wilson,” Tony repeats quietly, humming softly. “Well, it’s nice to meet you, Sam.”

“Hey, I thought Pepper told you to stop picking omega’s up off the street, Boss?” The driver speaks up, raising his eyebrows as he glances up in the mirror at Tony.

Tony glares at him. “Pepper’s not the boss of me,” he retorts. “Besides, I’m just being a good Alpha.”

“I- I appreciate it. Really. I should have been more careful, you know? Should have looked at the weather before leaving the house today. I just really wanted to get out. It’s been a long week,”

“I can only imagine,” Tony says.

It doesn’t take very long to get to the coffee shop. Sam’s a little disappointed, because despite only just meeting Tony Stark, he’s one of the few Alpha’s who have actually respected Sam, and is kind, and Sam would really like to spend more time with him. But, Sam’s sure he’s a busy Alpha.

“Uh, thank you, again. For the ride,” Sam says once they stop at the coffee shop. He opens the door, and steps out of the car. He glances up and sees Natasha walking up to the coffee shop. “Hey, Nat! Wait up!”

The beta looks over, and raises her eyebrows when she sees Sam getting out of a car.

“Sam,”

Sam looks down at Tony. “Yeah?”

Tony reaches over, and hands Sam a card. “Call me sometime. Maybe we could get lunch,”

Sam glances down at the card, seeing Tony’s number, and then he looks at Tony again, slowly nodding. “Okay. Yeah. That sounds nice. Thank you,”

“Enjoy your coffee. Tell Barnes’ I hope he slips on ice,” Tony says, earning a snort of laughter from Sam.

“Sure,” Sam says, before shutting the door. He jogs over to Natasha. “Why didn’t you answer your phone?”

“What are you doing getting out of some strangers' car?” Natasha asks, frowning at Sam.

“Technically, he’s not a stranger. It was Tony Stark. Uh, he gave me a ride when he saw that I didn’t have a jacket on,” Sam says. “And I got his number.” He holds up the car.

Natasha snorts. “Bucky is going to kill you when he finds out you hung out with Tony Stark,” she says. “And why don’t you have a jacket on, Samual? It’s snowing outside, and it’s freezing,”

Sam rolls his eyes. “Oh my God. I’m not explaining myself again,” he makes his way into the coffee shop, and shakes himself off. He looks up, and sees Bucky glaring at him from behind the counter.

“I just mopped those floors!” Bucky shouts.

“Well, now you can do a better job this time you mop!” Sam shouts back, walking up to the counter. “Oh, and by the way, Tony Stark told me to tell you that he hopes you slip on ice.”

Bucky scoffs. “Bastard.” he grumbles, before turning to make Sam’s coffee.
