so i’ve been digging some more into why callum has what looks like mick’s helmet, and this is what i found. long post ahead.
first i checked if they follow each other on social media, and they don’t, so you might think they don’t know each other. but then i went through mick’s ig, and callum has liked 8 out of mick’s 9 most recent posts. you can check for yourself, but here are some of them

pretty weird for someone who doesn’t follow him, right? i wondered if callum follows any other f1 related people, and as you can see below, he follows charles, lewis, alex, jamie, pierre, and the ferrari account on instagram, and just charles and the f1 account on twitter.

clearly he’s a ferrari fan, and he has mick’s helmet, so it doesn’t make sense for him to follow all of these people and not mick. this is where things get interesting. i was scrolling through the mick tag on getty for my mick archive account (shameless self promo lol) and look who i spotted at last year’s prize giving gala?

mlm callum truthers gather !! my friend jake made this really insightful post about that formula 1 helmet callum owns (go read it or you won’t know what i’m talking about) and it got me interested to say the least. i stalked mick schumacher’s ig and twitter for a bit and while he rarely posts anything personal, just racing related posts (and i’m pretty sure most of them are done by an admin), this picture immediately caught my attention

idk ferrari have been more tolerant in recent years especially with the women in motorsport initiative. also i did some stalking of my own and YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT I SAW. so last year the fda ran their summer training camp out of Austin, and one night marcus, mick and the rest went out partying with some of their friends too. now if you stalk marcus’ insta back far enough you can see him and callum are school friends, and one of the friends posted a group picture from the club that night. guess who’s in it? callum. he’s far left at the back and mick is kneeling in front of him, and callum has a hand on his shoulder.

Callum, having released his hit second album in May, takes a well-deserved break on holiday in Barbados. The Brit and his friend enjoyed the warm climate as they drank brightly coloured cocktails in their five-star resort.

jumping on the schulott bandwagon, i thought i would explain what the cartier love bracelets are seeing as they’ve convinced me they’re together.
cartier make expensive jewelry for ultra rich people and their love bracelets have become very fashionable. there are many different styles you can buy but they’re all in excess of 1k, and i kid you not mick and callum have the fourth most expensive one. a whopping £35,300. the significance is they are meant to be worn and not taken off, and the only way they are removed is with a cartier screwdriver which comes with the bracelet, the idea being you give it to your partner. it’s a serious sign of commitment, and i’m so happy they’ve found each other <33

The biggest thing I’ve learned from knowing him is to stay driven in spite of everything and to work on my mental strength. I really admire him for those things :-)

mick just confirmed he was at callum’s concert? he did a twitter q&a (just look at his most recent replies) and i can’t believe he even replied to questions about callum, given how he reacted when j*ck asked him about his personal life. obviously this is a different situation but still.
he was asked about his favorite and least favorite callum songs and he said all american family & lover are his fav songs, and illicit affairs is his least favorite. obviously all american family and lover are pretty straightforward love songs, but illicit affairs is quite interesting.
i never really thought twice about the song, but mick saying illicit affairs is his least favorite “because it’s so sad” made me look at it again.

Who is Callum Ilott’s new flame? All we know about the singer’s mystery beau
"Last year, I met someone, and I fell in love with them. And that person happens to be a guy,” Ilott told the crowd at his London Vevo concert. Since then, rumours have swirled about who his new man is, and here we investigate and evaluate those rumours.

Callum Ilott is the music industry’s hottest young talent. He’s handsome, he’s charming and he’s got the voice of an angel, and therefore, his dating life is of great concern to his fans.
The singer’s most famous previous relationship is that to model Malika El Maslouhi, who Ilott supposedly remains on good terms with. His debut album, ‘Bulgari and Bento’, was an ode to their relationship – the highs and the lows. The honesty of the album, the heartbreakingly candid way he sang about El Maslouhi, attracted him many fans.

The single ‘Sir Gilbert George Scott’, named after the University of Cambridge architect, that won him his fame however, he still has not shared the inspiration for.

His sophomore album released in June titled ‘Lover’ has been a hit, soaring up the charts immediately, proving once again Ilott’s earthy voice and mature writing style is incredibly popular. After hinting he was in a relationship in a GQ article in May, his fans have been in overdrive trying to figure it out.
Some connected him back to El Maslouhi, suggesting they were back on, and TMZ even picked up on it in June. This was quickly disproved though, when El Maslouhi posted on her Instagram story dispelling the rumours.

The most plausible rumour began after an Instagram Live in June. Not only did Ilott hint at his relationship again, but fans also spotted the helmet of Formula 1 driver Mick Schumacher in the background. This was not grounds for romantic speculation alone, but then pictures were revealed of Schumacher and Ilott at the FIA Prize Giving Gala, a prestigious racing event, the year before.
Fans then connected them together in Switzerland, where Schumacher resides, during spring via Instagram stories and fan sightings and even further back to summer 2022 in Austin with Schumacher’s racing driver posse.

Ilott continued to hint at his relationship on Twitter, then during August Ilott was spotted on holiday in Barbados with a ‘pal’. A source close to the couple has confirmed to me they were there together, with Mick on summer break from F1.

After that, the two may have returned to Ilott’s LA pad where Schumacher posted a picture from. The rumours heightened after the couple were seen wearing matching diamond paved Cartier LOVE bracelets.
Ilott officially came out as queer in September at a concert in London for Vevo, to which fans claim he was driven to in a red Ferrari, the F1 team that Schumacher drives for. A video emerged of Callum singing to someone in the crowd and mouthing ‘I love you’, and at the fans’ elation, Schumacher confirmed he was at the concert a week later on Twitter.
Schumacher clearly has an expensive taste, because Ilott received a vintage D’Angelico guitar for his birthday, himself confirming it was from his boyfriend in November. The D’Angelico showroom in New York confirmed Callum was there in October, and Mick was confirmed to have been in the city at the same time from a fan photo.

The pièce de resistance from fans has been the surfacing of a picture of Ilott and Schumacher with fellow F1 driver Lance Stroll and his gorgeous model and partner Sara Pagliaroli in New York from October. Pagliaroli writes on her story that they had a ‘great night out’, and the pair looked tipsy and loved up.
Most recently, fans have speculated that the two are in Monaco with brother Arthur Leclerc of Formula 1 Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc telling his Twitch stream that Mick was out for a ‘romantic dinner’. Ilott posted a picture of his food from Elsa restaurant in Monaco with his partner blocked out by an emoji on his story. Coincidence? Probably not.
So, here we have analysed Ilott’s and Schumacher’s recent movements. The evidence is compelling, but do you believe they’re together? Comment below.

Kravitz: So, Mick, welcome. How are you?
Schumacher: I’m very good, Ted. Been a bit of a crazy few weeks.
Kravitz: (He laughs) Yeah I bet. Let’s jump right into it. What’s it like to have led an F1 championship, especially with Ferrari, the team your father won with all those years ago.
Schumacher: (He smiles, reminiscent) It’s been a childhood dream come true. To sit here doing what he did makes me think of him, and it makes me incredibly proud. It feels surreal, in all honesty.
Kravitz: Yes, very much the same for the rest of us who have been around since that time! Your driving has been exemplary this year, how has it felt to beat the greats like Hamilton, and your fellow young drivers like Albon?
Schumacher: Oh my God, it’s indescribable and I haven’t even beaten them yet! We’ve pushed each other to the absolute limits, I’ve given everything I can to this, maybe sometimes I’ve sacrificed personal things when I would have rather not, but it’s been worth it.
Kravitz: Talking about personal things, shall we move onto more sensitive topics?
Schumacher: (He laughs freely) You don’t have to walk around on tip-toes Ted! Hit me.
Kravitz: Alright then, starting off I think we should talk about your coming out. Obviously, it’s a massive moment for the sport, which has been notoriously poor at diversity in the past. I have no doubt you will inspire many little boys and girls, so describe to me the feeling you have right now, after sharing that with the world?
Schumacher: I mean, just to be here and say the words I’m gay makes me so, so happy. Because I am! And I don’t have to hide it anymore. Before I felt a bit like a caged animal, I felt detached from the sport, but now... It’s a really special feeling. I’ve never been happier, I mean that.
Kravitz: You’re an inspiration, Mick. And of course, people have been loving your superstar boyfriend. Tell us about him.
Schumacher: He’s... (He sighs) I’m not the poet between us. He’s the one who expresses what we have. I think you only need to listen to his album, because everything he sings about me, I feel about him too. He’s just got this, like, magic about him. He’s such a bright light, I can only admire him for it.
Kravitz: Well, Mick, you’ve almost brought me to tears here. (Mick laughs). Give us one last thing, will Callum be coming to the paddock soon so all of us hungry journalists can meet him?
Schumacher: (He grins) Plans are being formed, that’s all I’ll say.
Kravitz: Back to your cryptic self, classic! It’s been a pleasure, Mick, thank you very much.
Schumacher: You’re welcome, Ted.

The Live starts with Charles and Mick greeting each other and the viewer, Charles using Ferrari’s account from his home in Monaco and Mick going live from his living room in Switzerland. They make small talk for a minute before answering questions from the chat. “We should ask each other the questions,” Charles suggests, picking the first one. “Mick, how are you preparing for Brazil and what do you think you need to do to win the championship?” Mick laughs, “Well, winning the race should do the trick! Obviously I can mathematically win the title in other ways depending on where Lewis and Alex finish, but I’m going out there to win the race. As for how I’m preparing, it’s the usual of studying the track and staying in shape, but I suppose what’s different this year is that I put a lot of effort in clearing my head of all of the outside pressure and expectations and just focusing on what’s important to me: my family and winning the title.”
Charles nods along and gives the camera a thumbs up, “Good answer, good answer.” Mick laughs and reads the chat before picking a question for Charles. “In the Hourglass challenge at the beginning of the year you mentioned living with your girlfriend. How do you deal with being away from each other and your home for so long?” “Ah, yes, I remember, that’s a good question! I’m very lucky that my girlfriend can come with me to a lot of races, so in that aspect it’s not so bad, but of course there are times when she can’t come because of school, for example. It is definitely hard, but all you can do is call and text as much as possible, and when you do get back home it’s the best feeling.” Mick nods in agreement as Charles looks around for a moment and then beckons someone over, “Viens dire salut, je suis en Live sur Instagram avec Mick.”
After a moment Charlotte appears in the frame, smiling and waving at the camera, “Hi, Mick! How are you?” Mick smiles back, “Hi! I’m good, how are you?” “Good! Is Callum with you? I texted him to ask about something but I don’t think he’s on his phone.” Mick nods in affirmation, “Yes, I’ll get him if you want?” He gets up from the sofa and walks to another room, in the meantime chatting with Charlotte and Charles. “Ah, there you are.” He grins to the camera, “Charles, I think you should extend your contract for a few more years to be safe.” Mick flips the camera around to show Callum playing F1 2023 using Mick’s gaming setup. Callum gives the camera a quick wave, saying “Hi, everyone!” before turning his eyes to the screen to focus on his virtual race. He only has a few laps of the Monaco circuit left, and Charles and Charlotte cheer him on until he finishes in second, right behind the virtual Charles. “Good job, baby,” Mick flips the camera back around and hands his phone to Callum, kneeling next to where he’s sat in the gaming chair to remain in the frame. “My seat is still safe! Well done virtual Charles,” Charles laughs.
Callum takes his headphones off with his free hand and grins, “Don’t celebrate too soon, Charles. If I was racing the real you, you would have been toast.” He smiles at the screen, “Bonjour, Charlotte.” “Salut, mon amour,” Charlotte greets, “When are you coming back to Monaco? I miss you.” “Whenever this one decides to stop living like a hermit,” Callum gestures to Mick. Mick just shakes his head at the camera, an amused smile on his face. “But I miss you too, we’ll definitely set something up when the season has ended!” “Yes, I texted you about that, I found an amazing place in the Maldives for next year,” Charlotte replies, excited. Charles interferes to take his phone back from Charlotte, the latter having taken it from him during the conversation with Callum, “Okay, that’s nice, but Mick, we should answer some more questions or our boss will be upset with us.” Callum hands Mick his phone, looking up at him with a sweet smile as Mick rises to his feet. “Bye, Callum, text me!” Charlotte waves to the camera before disappearing from the frame. After Callum and Charles have said their goodbyes, Mick walks back to his living room. “Okay, where were we?”

The stream shows the twenty cars lined up on the starting grid, having just completed the formation lap. “Welcome, if you’re just joining us,” says David Croft, “Cancel all of your other plans, because today, in sunny Brazil, the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship is decided on the asphalt at Interlagos. Three different drivers from three different teams will be battling it out over the title. We watch as the lights go red one by one, and it’s lights out and away we go! Mick Schumacher gets a great start but so does Alex Albon, and Dan Ticktum is right on their tail! Into the first corner we go, and Schumacher keeps first place as he leads the pack, and there’s almost no space at all between Alex Albon and Dan Ticktum, Ticktum attempting a move on the inside, can he make it stick? He can’t, but thankfully there’s no contact.”
Martin Brundle chimes in, “Certainly a stellar start from Schumacher, as there’s some contact at the back of the pack, we’ll have to see who in a moment, and Albon and Ticktum so close behind him shows just how talented this grid is. In these conditions, it’s incredibly important for Schumacher to start building a gap between himself and those behind, while Alex Albon will want to overtake him as quickly as possible if he wants to have a shot at the title.” The commentators talk as the chaos of the first few laps settles down and the long game begins.
“This is interesting, it seemed like Mick Schumacher was getting away from Alex Albon the last ten laps or so, but Alex just took four tenths out of him in the first sector alone,” Croft says on lap 25. “Yes, he was a bit slow the previous lap, and now we can see that he was charging his battery to start chasing Schumacher,” Brundle adds. Their voices grow louder as Alex goes around the outside of Mick at the end of the lap, both cars mere inches from each other as they go wheel to wheel. Alex out-brakes Mick when they enter the corner, taking the racing line and the race lead. “Wow! What a move from Alex Albon, this is some great racing we’re seeing here today and it tells you that the championship fight is far from over,” says Brundle. Croft speaks up, “I couldn’t agree more, Martin. With Lewis Hamilton running in P5 some twenty seconds behind, it appears the battle is between Schumacher and Albon, but of course anything can happen. The pit stop window is about to open, and this is where strategy can play a major role in the race result. Will Ferrari risk an undercut on Alex Albon, or will they leave Mick Schumacher out for a while longer, is the question, because he’s still very much in attacking distance of Albon.”
On lap 34, Alex pits for mediums, Mick taking over as the race leader for a couple of laps. He manages to build a gap of five seconds while Alex gets his tyres warmed up. Mick’s pit stop goes off without a hitch, and he rejoins the race in P3, moving up to P2 when Dan pits. He spends the next dozen laps inching closer towards Alex, setting fastest lap after fastest lap. “As we’re moving into the final stage of the race, you can see Schumacher really starting to put pressure on Albon, who no doubt has his engineer in his ear telling him Mick’s lap times. If you’re Alex Albon, leading the race which will make you champion of the world if you win, what’s going through your mind right now?”, Croft puts forward. Brundle blows out a heavy breath, chuckling: “Hard to say. When you have so much pressure on your shoulders, you can either be consumed by it and most likely fail, or shut everything out and focus on winning, which is what every single one of these drivers is doing right now, especially the likes of Albon and Schumacher.”
Mick gains quickly on Alex, able to get more speed out of the mediums, and is within a second of him for about 10 laps, every couple of laps backing off to cool his car. On lap 55, Mick engages DRS down the straight and dives down the inside of Alex. Alex defends hard, but it’s not enough. The commentators exclaim in elation as Mick slips past him through the corner and retakes the race lead. “Incredible racing from both Mick Schumacher and Alex Albon, just- wow! Now, Crofty, with only about fifteen laps to go, what does this mean for the championship? Does Alex still have a chance?” “There’s always a chance, Martin, but I will say that if McLaren has any tricks left up their sleeve, this would be the time to use them.”
Alex hunts Mick down for the duration of the final stage of the race, Mick having to defend at least every other lap. It’s a hard battle, neither of them giving up, but when the checkered flag waves, it’s Mick who crosses the line first. He is a Formula 1 World Champion.

Callum and Mick Ilott Schumacher on Music, Cars, and Inspiring a Generation
“It’s incredible the influence we have together, and it’s a responsibility we try our hardest to use well,” Callum says of the wide reach of the couple’s audience.

The two Ilott Schumachers join me via video call from their house in Switzerland. Callum had been off camera making tea and Mick apologises for his absence, saying Callum is never ready on time for anything. He appears a few minutes later, putting down two steaming mugs on coasters on their wood table, and greets me with a smile. We jump straight in as they are both busy and run tight schedules, Callum later has a call with his manager and Mick with his constant physical training.
Is it hard to maintain a marriage with as complicated schedules as they have?
Mick nods, “Every single minute is planned, not kidding. It’s the only way to see each other enough, you know, most people in Formula 1 have wives who stay at home or who don’t work, not only does Callum have a job but a demanding one at that so we have to put in the effort. It’s worth every second though, at the end of the day my priority is Callum. Some drivers don’t even try to date during their careers, but I think if you find the right person you can make it work.”
And for Callum, similar sentiments?
“Of course, marriages take effort no matter what either of you do, it’s just ours that takes a little bit more than others,” He looks over to Mick, the love clear in his eyes. I feel almost like I’m intruding, and it won’t be the last time I feel like that. I’ve wanted to ask them about coming out since they first did it so,
What led to the decision to come out, and how does it feel different now a year and a bit on? Callum answers first.
“For me, it just hadn’t needed to be shared yet. I wanted to put out the first album and secure my place and after that I never dreamed I would meet someone so soon after. From there, it was just like, I can’t hide this and I actually don’t want to. I started thinking of the young queer boy I was, and I thought if I can help just one person who had similar issues like me it would be worth it.”
“It was almost obsessive,” Mick adds fondly of Callum’s rumination. “I think for both of us the difference is that we feel free.” He sighs. “Truthfully, Formula 1 was becoming suffocating. I contemplated leaving after winning that first championship, but then Callum came into my life, and I just couldn’t. Coming out was a natural next step, and it finally felt right to do it.”
And when the decision was made, how did the two experience the reactions to those infamous Instagram posts?
“To be honest, even though I knew and hoped most people would react positively, somewhere inside me there was still a voice telling me everyone would hate me and it would be the end of my career,” Mick says. Callum places a reassuring hand on his knee as Mick chuckles and shakes his head. “So I was very much pleasantly surprised, and of course it felt amazing seeing not only my fans supporting me, but also other drivers such as Lewis (Hamilton, red.). I’ve said this many times already, but the support of the whole team and Charles (Leclerc, red.) has been incredible. I can always count on him to have my back.”
Indeed, the two Ferrari drivers seem to have an exceptional relationship on and off the track, even going on yearly holidays together with their partners. And what about Callum? Who did he have for support?
“Well, obviously this guy right here,” Callum grins, jostling Mick with his shoulder. “I had already come out a few months before, and even before that I had kind of dropped hints here and there, so I think people were way less surprised as with Mick. And like he said, reactions were great for the most part. My best mate Marcus (Armstrong, red.) has supported me since the beginning, and I actually have him to thank for meeting Mick, so I think I’ll owe him for life.”
Mick joins Callum in laughter, adding: “Yeah, I don’t think he will ever let you forget it.”
Since they went public with their relationship in December of last year, the Ilott Schumachers have each grown to be even more successful. Mick dominated the 2024 Formula 1 season and won his second world championship title in a row, solidifying Ferrari’s return to the top of the sport. Meanwhile, Callum surprised fans and media alike by releasing his third album unannounced. The album, Heart Lifer , received unanimous praise and reached the same number of streams as his previous album Lover in half the time. Whispers of a Grammy nomination have been heard since its release, but for Callum, there’s something more important than awards and streams.
“This album is very close to my heart, maybe even more so than Lover ,” he explains. “There’s a lot of uncertainty still in Lover , but with Heart Lifer it’s just,” - he pauses for a moment - “happiness, I suppose.” He shares another look with Mick, and once again I feel I should avert my eyes. “But I won’t say no to a Grammy, either,” Callum jokes, eliciting a laugh from his husband.
And will we see Mick on the red carpet?
“Maybe,” Mick smiles. The Switzerland-born German is notoriously private, although since coming out he has been making a lot more use of his social media, posting personal pictures as well as racing-related ones.
“Personally I would never say no to Mick in a suit,” Callum jokes, earning an eye roll and a smile from Mick.
To Mick first, what’s it like being a a gay symbol, if you will, in sport, and how does he manage the expectations of that?
He sighs, “It’s-,” I can see Callum squeeze his hand under the table, “It’s not the easiest. The issue is someone has to be the first, and I’m a private person by nature so I never thought it would be me. I’ve had to change a lot of my views on the world, and on social media, because I do want to help, and if I want that I have to be visible.” He’s definitely been visible, a picture of him holding a German flag above his head in one hand and a pride flag in the other after winning the championship in Brazil last year has gone viral, and has become a historic image for the LGBT community. “I just do what I think is right, and what I would’ve wanted to see as a young gay guy.”
And Callum, the music industry has been changing in recent times, but it’s still not entirely accepting. Have there been any instances he feels he’s been a victim of homophobia, and how does he deal with that?
He looks upward, “Yeah, yeah naturally not everyone is okay with it. I had this like, sex symbol level, and there are still some people who believe that being gay loses you that, but to be honest, that’s not what important. I mean if people think I’m hot, thank you very much, but what sells my record is not just my face it’s the lyrics and the sound. If people empathise with it, that’s what works the best to sell music in my opinion. The way of dealing with it is sometimes by ignoring it, you know from anonymous haters, but when it’s people in the record label I stand my ground. No one can tell you who to love and how to love them.” He shrugs. Mick looks on at him adoringly.
Looking to the future, are there any plans, a next album or championship? Kids?
“One step at a time,” Mick laughs, “I obviously want as many championships as I can get, and I’m still undecided on kids. It’s something we’ll face together when the time comes, right now we’re just enjoying being mid-twenty somethings.”
“I’m always writing music,” Adds Callum, “You know the other day I realised how tolerant you have to be to marry a singer because I don’t ever stop making noise,” He looks over to Mick, who just smiles,
“I like it, I grew up in such a quiet household I like all your noise,”
