“ H… Hey… Easy there… b… big fella… ”
You groan at the pain throbbing in your head, specifically your left temple. You feel… wet everywhere, and an uncomfortable feeling across your torso. Almost as if there was fur sticking to your arms and chest.
You try opening your eyes, but hiss at the sting of salt intruding. There’s rumbling coming from above you, like an (extremely familiar sounding) animal growling in the intent to intimidate… someone.
You feel sand underneath your body… and the sound of water… Are you on a beach?
“ We… We just want to help… ” A familiar, high pitched, female voice speaks nervously, “ We don’t mean any… any harm… ”
You finally open your eyes, confirming your suspicions that you were, in fact, on a beach. You can smell faint copper; are you bleeding?
You hear the crunch of sand, probably someone coming closer. The animal above you lowers itself close to you, it’s growl becomes more aggressive when the person tries to get close.
Well, ain’t this just a son of a bitch? I bet you’re wondering what the fuck happen for you to be in a situation like this. Well, get ready to be met with disappointment because it is seriously anticlimactic.
——
You blink slowly, trying to will away your headache with a silent prayer to whatever higher being is out there. If your parents were home, they’d make some snarky remarks about you having a headache because you’re always on that damn PS4.
But alas, your mom doesn’t come home until 8pm, and your father went to your little sister’s friends’ house because of a birthday party. Your dad took your baby brother since you were going to leave the house as well.
You were invited by a few friends to go to a Plaza with them, and since you have nothing better to do, you said yes.
Anyway, your head hurts.
“It’s ‘cause you’re always on that damn game,” You mutter to yourself, getting irritated even if you were the one to say it, “Shut up, [Y/n]. Nobody asked you.”
You lean forward to read the text on your screen, “Reach Adventure Rank Ten to unlock- ugh! Seriously??”
Why has Genshin Impact forsaken you? Sure, you only just got this game yesterday morning, but you thought for sure you were more ahead than that!
You place your controller on the coffee table then lean back in the comfort of your couch.
“Can you believe this shit, Sekido?”
Your wolf-dog, Sekido, was sitting next to you on the couch, his head resting on your lap. He’s not allowed on the couch since he was a bit over half your size, but this all-black companion was your best friend. You can let anything slide when it comes to him.
Sekido is a seven year old wolf-dog: half Gray Wolf and half all-black Siberian Husky. His eyes are unnaturally, and beautifully silver.
—The Author will now provide a flashback to when you first met him.—
When you were twelve, your parents took you and your sister (who was six at the time) camping in California. You’re 87% sure you weren’t at a legal camp site, because the second day you were there, a fucking wolf intruded at your camp.
Your parents were having their “alone time” so you were left watching your sister alone at the time. She was asleep in your shared tent, so it was literally just you and the wolf.
Your parents came back just in time to see the wolf lunge at you. You grabbed the nearest object (which was a pretty big branch) and smacked the wolf across the nose with it. You and the wolf had a staring contest, surprised that you just did that.
Then, much to everyone’s surprise, the wolf lowered himself down to the ground, staring up at you with his beautiful silver eyes. He was absolutely in love.
Your parents were screaming Bloody Murder when you casually strut up to the animal and pet him .
Every time your parents tried shooing him away, or tried separating you from him, he kept growling and baring his teeth. Of course you smacked his nose every time.
They were really left with no choice other than to let him stay.
Your dad, conveniently being a Veterinarian, had taken him to his office to get him checked and cleaned. And in the midst of it, it was discovered that the anime was actually a wolf-dog. After many baths, shots, deworming, fixing, Sekido was all yours.
This is the end of the flashback.
Six years later, you’re an eighteen year old girl who’s best friend is a dangerous animal that can literally kill you in your sleep.
He’s too smart for his own good; you can literally have a full conversation with that wolf-dog. By all means, you should be terrified of him.
But…
“There’s not a single thought behind those eyes, is there?” You smile, raking your hand through his fur.
If you didn’t know any better, you’d say Sekido deadpanned at your words. Still, he leans into your touch as his tail wags ever so slightly.
You grab your phone from your side, turning it on to check the time. You’re supposed to be ready for your friend to pick you up at 7:30. And now it’s-
“IT’S ALREADY SEVEN?!”
Sekido sits up at your volume, so you take this chance to stand up.
You had a missed message from your friend, reading: “ I’ll call you when I’m outside so be ready. ”
You toss your phone back on the couch and grab your controller from the table. You hastily plug in the controller and leave it on the table. You can turn it off when you get out of the shower.
“Sekido, why didn’t you tell me to stop playing?!”
Your poor boy just huffs.
“I gotta shower, bitch!”
——
“Sekido, can you get my flats?? I think they’re by my dresser!”
You hear a soft bark from your room and the pitter patter of his feet. You stick your tongue out in concentration, trying to pin your baby hairs back. You groan in irritation before deciding to just leave it alone. It’ll start to curl once your hair dries, but you don’t care anymore.
You step back from the mirror on top of the bathroom sink to check yourself out.
You’re wearing a very simple white dress. The dress stops just above your knees, and the straps are as thick as your hand. The neckline dipped deep into a V, making you wonder if you should wear a vest over it.
You turn your attention to Sekido who pops his head in the bathroom. Your white flats in a loose hold in his mouth so he wouldn’t damage them.
“Thank you, baby boy!” You take your shoes with one hand while petting him with the other.
You hear the song Death By Glamour from Undertale play in your living room, immediately recognizing it as the music for your ringtone.
“Fuck! He’s here!”
You’re so glad you already had your low-cut socks you use for flats. Sekido moves out of your way, trotting close behind when you rush out of the bathroom. You hop on one foot to put on your left shoe, almost falling forward a few times. You jog to your living room before hopping to put on your other shoe.
“Sekido,” You chuckle anxiously while you struggle to slip on your flats, “you wouldn’t happen to know how to turn off the Playstat ION! ”
When you put your foot down, you slipped on the cord charging your controller. You think Sekido tried to rush under your body, but unfortunately it was all for naught when your temple roughly meets the edge of the coffee table.
“Ah shit,” Your Guardian Angel™ clicks his tongue, “My bad, G.”
Okay, truth be told, that fall killed you.
It was an accident, though! He didn’t mean to kill you! He literally looks away for one second and you go and get yourself killed!
Your Guardian Angel™ materializes in the living room over your dead ass body. Sekido was too busy crying and nudging you to move to notice his presence for now.
Ahh crap! What does he do?! It’s against the Guardian Angel’s Regulation™ to revive someone who has died under their care!
Wait.
You’re not technically dead.
Your soul is still very much alive, your body is just… under construction… for now. He can transfer your soul to something else for the time being until he can get you either a new body, or plead your case to God in hopes the Almighty gives you a second chance.
But where can he put your soul?
“ Yawn! ”
Your Guardian Angel™ looks at the T.V. in alarm, relaxing his shoulders when he realizes it’s just from the game you’re playing now. Were playing, his mind supplies.
The character you’re playing, Aether, was yawning as his idle animation.
Oh.
Oh!
Your Guardian Angel™ sighs through his nose and pulls your soul from your body. He jumps in surprise when your phone rings, Death by Glamour scares Sekido for a moment, but the wolf-dog ignores it to lay on your body.
Sigh. It would be cruel to leave Sekido here. And you’d probably appreciate his company, too. He doesn’t realize it, but your Guardian Angel™ starts to bob his head to your ringtone.
Death by Glamour… Undertale was- is your second favorite game in the world.
Hm…
Your Guardian Angel™ takes Sekido’s soul as well, wincing at the sad sight of Sekido’s now dead body laying on yours.
His blue eyes watch the two souls in his hands dance around in his hands for a moment before they disappear.
Great.
How is he going to hide this from your parents?
“ Angel Gabriel ,” An ambiguous voice calls your Guardian Angel’s™ name, causing him to tense up, “ I need you here; you have business with the Archangel Michael and Cherub Sandalphon. ”
Angel Gabriel laughs nervously, “Yep! On my way!”
He waits until the presence of the Seraph Angel leaves him before sighing. This… is not good.

“H… Hey… Easy there… b… big fella…”
You groan at the pain throbbing in your head, specifically your left temple. You feel… wet everywhere, and an uncomfortable feeling across your torso. Almost as if there was fur sticking to your arms and chest.
You try opening your eyes, but hiss at the sting of salt intruding. There’s rumbling coming from above you, like an (extremely familiar sounding) animal growling in the intent to intimidate… someone.
You feel sand underneath your body… and the sound of water… Are you on a beach?
“We… We just want to help… ” A familiar, high pitched, female voice speaks nervously, “ We don’t mean any… any harm…”
Wait…
You tilt your head up, looking at the familiar, pitch black fur belonging to-
“Sekido…?”
His growling gets softer, but he doesn’t get off you.
“Let me… get up…”
Ugh, you feel lightheaded. Now that you’re regaining your senses, you’re sure you’re bleeding from the temple.
You lightly push Sekido off you, sitting up while holding your head in your hands. Sekido stays close to your side, still on alert due to your company.
You had to close your left eye when blood started trailing down your face. Still, you check Sekido to see if he was injured, sighing in relief to see he’s okay.
“Hey, are… are you okay?”
The fuck did she just say?
You finally look up to the source of the voice.
There was a male with long, blonde hair held back in a braid. His outfit made him look like a twink. His gold eyes looked at you with concern. And floating by his side was a small girl with short, white hair and deep blue eyes. She was watching Sekido with anxiety.
…
These two…
“Cosplaying Kidnappers?” You croak weakly.
“…Huh? ” Probably-Paimon tilts her head in confusion before looking at Probably-Aether, “ What did she say?”
Damn you for playing Genshin Impact in English!! Maybe if you played it in Chinese, you’d have a sliver of understanding! You only speak English, bad English, and the very basic Japanese phrases/words from watching an unhealthy amount of anime!
You look down at yourself and your surroundings. In every Isekai fanfiction, the reader has at least a phone! But all you see is the clothes you’re wearing, and Sekido.
Ah shit.
This had to be a dream.
Or, you’re dead.
You’re dreaming or dead.
GASP!
Or you’re dreaming and dead!
“Sekido,” You lean your head on him, “Am I dead?”
The wolf-dog barks softly, which you taught him to do when he wants to reply with “no”.
“Fuck.”
You don’t swear that much on a regular (a lie), but this situation is exceptionally fucked, that you just can’t fucking help it.
“I-I… Where… Where am I?” You ask meekly, “Who… I…”
Probably-Aether holds his hands up and cautiously step forward, “You’re on Falcon Coast-”
HE SPEAKS ENGLISH?!
“-I saw you laying here, unconscious. This… wolf was laying on you, and got aggressive when he saw us. This is Paimon,” The blonde gestures towards his floating companion, then to himself, “My name is Aether.”
“You can understand her and speak her language?” Paimon comments with wide eyes.
“Fal… Falcon… Falcon Coast…”
You reach up to touch your temple, pulling your hand back down to look at the red staining you hand.
You tripped and hit your head. You remember that much. What you don’t remember is how you got here. There’s no fucking way you’re at Falcon Coast.
“You’re injured,” Aether steps closer, “Please, let me help you.”
Sekido bares his teeth at Aether, causing the blonde to quickly step back.
“I… I’m not… I’m not supposed to be here…” You try desperately to keep your breathing even, “I… I’m not… This isn’t my… my home… I’m-This isn’t my world…”
You have to be dreaming. This is not real. It can’t be. This just doesn’t happen to people. So you don’t feel that stupid when you reveal that part about yourself.
“I don’t belong here… I… I don’t know how to go home… I don’t know how I got here…” You try wiping the blood covering your eye, “I don’t know why and how I got here… I’m so…”
You’re so terrified. Even though this is a dream, it all feels too real. The sand stuck to your damp skin, the almost unbearable sting coming from your temple: it feels too real.
“You’re like me,” Aether says softly, “I don’t know why I’m stuck here. This place, this isn’t my world. And I can’t leave without finding my sister.”
I know.
Aether takes a step forward again, ignoring how Sekido gets visibly hostile.
“We… we can be lost here together,” Aether smiles, “Let’s stick together, and keep each other company in this strange world. And I’ll protect you.”
You bite the inside of your cheek, rubbing Sekido’s head in between his ears.
“It’s okay, Sekido… We can trust them…” You mutter.
Reluctantly, your companion drops his hostility in favor of sitting by your side. Still acting with caution, Aether slowly gets closer. He then kneels in front of you.
“Let’s take a look at that injury.”
“Wha-Aether, what did you say? What just happened? Paimon is so confused…” The girl hesitantly gets closer to him.
She stops in her tracks when she sees the wolf-dog stare intensely at the male. She did not want to be that creature's lunch.
“She’s like me. She doesn’t belong here; she doesn’t know how she got here, and she doesn’t know how to go back ,” Aether reaches up to tilt your head to the side, “ She’s going to stay with us for now. Or for as long as she wants.”
“Woah, seriously? Paimon wouldn’t have guess there were others like you ,” Paimon gasps, “ Did she tell you her name?”
As if understanding the conversation (you didn’t, you just suddenly remembered to introduce yourself), you tell your fellow traveler your name.
“Her name is [Y/n].”
