Work Text:
Yanna had very mixed feelings about winter. Like, it was cold so her pressure wouldn't drop that easy with exercise. At the same time, pain seemed to be stronger when it was freezing.
At least her girlfriend had a very warm and cozy fireplace at her house. She was sitting in front of it with her hands covered in mitts and her feet in thick wool socks. Both were red and pink with golden details, Ara said it was strawberry inspired and she could see it.
More strawberry things to her collection, people were going to think she was obsessed with them.
She smelled the gloves again, the scent was subtle. So good.
“I thought you wanted to watch the movie.”
She glanced back, staring at Arachne's amusing green eyes. Yanna chuckled and jumped to go sit by her side.
“I was warming up.” She said, giving her a kiss before leaning on the couch to watch the movie.
Ara put an arm behind her and started playing with her hair.
“I don't understand why you chose this movie.”
“It's Christmas!”
“Christmas was three days ago.” Arachne rolled her eyes, Yanna pouted, her girlfriend didn't have the right to be infuriatingly cute, it was so much harder to get angry at her.
“It's christmas until I say it ended.” She said in a definite tone.
“Whatever you say, queen.”
That nickname made her heart flutter like a thousand butterflies. It made her feel so excited too, powerful even. She snuggled on Ara's shoulder, half watching the movie, half reviewing the steps on her head. Luckily Arachne didn't hear the tambourine jiggling in her bag. If she did though, she was hiding it very well.
Yanna just needed the movie to end, and then change clothes.
How would she prepare the song and still keep Ara oblivious to it all was going to be impossible. But she had to try.
“I like the princess and the pauper better.” Ara said when the movie ended, inclining her head towards her girlfriend. “Do you want to drink something?”
“Fancy grape juice is fine by me.” She answered, giving her a fast kiss before getting up. “I'm going to change my clothes.”
“Alright, I will keep my eyes closed.”
Yanna's jaw fell to the floor, in her head, in reality she just grinned. “Don't ruin the surprise.”
She slid towards the bedroom, almost hitting the door in the process. Picking her bag, she started laying all the things she got on the bed, the long skirt, the not-corset, the many, many, colorful fabrics, the puffy sleeves shirt and, last but not least, the instrument.
Bless the good heat system, she took her layers of warm clothes, exchanging them for light pieces, which were unbelievably cold, making her shiver. Letting her hair out of the ponytail to puff it more, using a fabric as a headband. She tied the multiple fabrics on the skirt's belt, then put on the corset look alike and finally was done.
She was excited.
Yanna tiptoed, careful not to make any jiggling sound. Arachne was being true to her word, head leaning on the couch's back, staring at the ceiling with closed eyes.
She looked through her phone, searching for the recording Hypnos sent her.
She connected her phone to the stereo and approached the living room, she was going to take the things out of the coffee table, but Arachne had already done that. Dammit, she had to fall for someone who would notice a needle in a haystack.
The notes started playing, and she began moving the tambourine lightly, it had been the worst part of the whole choreography, but it was in time.
She noticed Ara's brown frown in concentration and then the girl opened her eyes, surprised. The reaction Yanna wanted from her.
The blond kept spinning, hitting the tambourine and moving carefully her bare feet across the table. She didn't want to fall. She locked eyes with her lover.
Making flourishes and concentrating on the next step, Arachne was observing her with adoration and awe, her cheeks flushed. Yan couldn't contain her smile as she gave a final spin to fall to the floor. Holding her skirt up high before sitting on Ara's lap. Leaving one of her legs to show, she leaned, into a kiss, which seemed to wake the other from the trance she was in.
And the girl didn't have to say anything, everything was as clear as day in her face. Yanna kept hitting the instrument softly against her leg as she leaned closer. Nuzzling from her jaw until the girl's ear, placing a kiss there, the brunette chuckled.
Yanna slid away from the girl's arms. Going back to the dance, she let her body be one with the melody, moving without breaking eye contact, she let out a heavy sigh giving a smirk.
She reached out her hand, Ara took it without a second thought. Aiding her spin and moving closer. The dancer crossed one arm on the girl's neck, as the other gently put away the tambourine.
“With the taste of the wine...” Ara began whispering the song. “Hold me close while we're dancing...” She continued pulling her girlfriend. “When I hear you sighing...”
“Thai mol piyas.” Yanna muttered, their noses almost touching.
“Winter is dying...” Ara moved away a strand of hair with the tip of her fingers, her voice faltering.
“Thai mol piyas.”
Yanna stepped away to continue the choreography. Closing her eyes to enjoy the sound of her girlfriend's voice. She began to make the more elaborate moves, with spins and using the tied fabrics as new accessories. Putting them around Ara's neck to pull her closer, giving teasing kisses right next to her lips or on her neck. Her heart was skipping on her chest because that was so much more than she had planned.
When the song was at the final acords, she was just making slow movements, with her hand intertwined to her girlfriend's.
“You will keep me warm until morning...” Ara said leaning closer, her voice lowering with every repeat. “You will keep me warm until morning…”
And they kissed.
Yanna closed her eyes, crossing both arms on her neck and tried to get closer. Arachne's hand went down to the small of her back, and they walked blindly until they hit the couch. Ara sat down, pulling her thighs together with her, so Yanna had one leg on each side.
They broke off the kiss, melting into each other's eyes and touching foreheads. Green glistening with adoration and brown flooding with love.
“Didn't think you'd do that.” Her voice was small. “I loved it.”
Yanna smiled. “I'm happy.” She kissed her nose. “I wanted to make a surprise.”
Arachne just stared at her, her eyes were saying so much that Yan was almost overwhelmed from the affection. “I love you.”
Yanna's heart skipped a beat, and Ara hid her face on the crook of her neck. She hugged her tightly, hiding her own face on the girl's hair, her cheeks burning with the rush of blood. “I love you too.”
It was the first time Arachne said those words to her.
