"Get your Voot Floops today! Only six hundred-"
The sound of the booming television caused Alastor's ears to twitch as he walked by. Stopping for just a moment, Alastor grumbled to himself, his ever-present smile struggling to maintain itself.
It was late in the night, the dark red hue of the pentagram just barely illuminating the ally Alastor had chosen to walk through. However, for how busy the city seemed, there was practically not a soul in sight.
Side-eyeing the advertisement on the numerous screens with distaste, he noticed the glitching grey static take over the televisions. Slowly, the particles morphed into a certain tiresome overlord's display.
The media demon's cackle rang out as if coming from a surround sound speaker. His face held an impudent smirk, a small note of affection blatant in his features as well.
"Aww, come to check me out, huh babe?" The light from Vox's bright blue grin radiated off of Alastor's disgruntled face.
The sharp sound of microphone feedback sparked more thunderous laughter from the TV demon.
"Bastard television, do not refer to me as such! Need I remind you where we are at this very moment?!" Alastor was frazzled. This man knew just how much he hated public displays of affection, and yet he still continued to push Alastor's boundaries.
Cackling again, Vox's voice echoed in the area as his eyes squinted in delight.
"C'mon Al, I already surveyed the area and no one's around." He paused, softening his expression. "Besides, you know you love me."
Relaxing at the reassurance that the area was empty, Alastor loosened his tight smile and sighed. This man would be the second death of him.
"The day I regret it is the day you will be sorry, my dear." Despite his menacing words, the radio demon's voice held no threat.
"We both know that day will never come." Vox winked, and in a flash, appeared next to Alastor like a bolt of lightning.
Startled, Alastor held his chest and rolled his eyes at the showy entrance, moving to trudge away. However, right before he could, Vox grabbed his hand and spun Alastor towards him.
"Humor me for a moment, wouldja babe?"
Sighing, Alastor made sure to make his displeasure known, but ultimately relented, allowing Vox to spin him into a warm embrace. His usual red coat twirled along with him, the bottom ends flaring out.
"Missed ya, Al-ligator. Been a while since I saw that pretty face, y'know?" Vox held him for a good minute, arms wrapped delicately around the radio demon's thin waist.
They stood in silence, Alastor closing his eyes and relishing in the moment. The only sound that accompanied them was the distant sounds of the bustling city, a comfortingly familiar resonance. He gripped the other tight, cherishing the only touch he had ever missed.
Pulling away slightly, Vox raised a hand to caress Alastor's face, hand brushing lightly against his cheek. The TV overlord's expression twisted, shifting into something more tender and raw.
Vox opened his mouth to say something, but quickly shut it, opting instead to trail his hand down, pausing once he reached the other’s.
Hands intertwined, Vox glanced down fondly and sighed out sheepishly.
"It's been too long, Al."
The words sent an unfamiliar pang to Alastor’s heart, the radio demon unaccustomed to such intimate vulnerability. He searched his mind for something to say that would comfort his lover, knowing the man was hurting after their previous departure. The two of them hadn’t found the time to see one another, too overwhelmingly busy with their individual schedules.
"Dear television of mine, it has been some time, yes." Alastor squeezed the shorter demon's hand in reassurance. "But you're here now, mon amour statique."
Alastor tilted Vox’s screen upward with his free hand, pressing a long kiss to Vox’s mouth. He would never get used to the unique sensation of those pixels tickling his lips, but he didn’t mind. It’s what made kissing the man so enthralling.
Vox sagged, an invisible weight seemingly removed from his shoulders. He gazed up at Alastor’s face and allowed a sly smirk to form, pulling away from the deer demon.
“Well babe, I see you’ve missed me too, passing by my electronics stores everyday. Hoping to catch a glimpse of me on your walks?” He leaned his body forward teasingly, screen illuminating Alastor’s face. “Enjoy my advertisements?”
Scoffing, Alastor raised his microphone and pushed Vox further away with the flat end. His smile formed nearly into a grimace and he stood up straight in a fruitless attempt to appear intimidating.
“I am not opposed to leaving, Vox.” He stated matter-of-factly, although they both knew he missed the other too much to leave right that moment.
“But,” The radio demon turned his head away, refusing to look at Vox as he continued. “If you must know, I wouldn’t mind seeing your dreadful face more often."
Blinking in surprise at Alastor’s sudden openness, the media demon fought the urge to make a snide remark back to cover up his astonishment. Instead, he stared at the other in admiration and awe, eyes wide open.
Alastor could feel Vox’s eyes burning into the side of his head and huffed. Was what he said really that surprising? It wasn’t as if he had never been emotionally honest with the TV overlord before, albeit it had been some time.
Vox shook himself out of his dazed state and stepped towards Alastor, extending his arm in a flourishing motion. He then wrapped that same arm around the radio demon's waist, moving in close enough that Alastor could smell his light cologne.
Returning the gesture, Alastor slid an arm across Vox's back, hand draped limply over the shorter man’s shoulder.
"You free right now babe?" Vox's voice was filled with child-like enthusiasm. "I don't have another meeting for an hour or so."
As if pretending to think about his options, Alastor raised a hand to the bottom of his face in faux contemplation. After a few seconds, he nodded his head.
"I suppose I could make some room for you in my schedule." He chuckled, a recorded laugh track blaring from the microphone in his hands. "Where did you have in mind, dear?"
Vox snickered at his lover's antics, having yearned for those dorky quips every day they were apart.
He moved to walk forward, the slight pressure from his arm signaling Alastor to move as well. They walked in sync, their legs a perfect mirror of one another.
"There's this diner on my side of the city, just opened up," Vox started, leading Alastor in the direction of his district. "From the ratings, everyone's been saying the food there is almost five stars."
Alastor listened as the media overlord began to ramble on, endeared by the easy-going passion the man seemed to exude.
"They even have my cereal! Say Al, have you ever heard of Voot Floops..."
