Chapter Text
"Can your believe it, Cole?" Marmalade chirruped, his tail lashing back and forth excitedly while his backpack was hunched over his shoulder. "We're finally starting our first day of high school, and not only that, but we get to meet not one, not two, but three new students today!"
Cole, a fluffy black cat wearing nothing but a red hoodie, brushed his sharp teeth thoroughly and yawned halfheartedly. "How mystically wonderful," he groaned sarcastically. He rubbed his groggy eyes as he continued to drink his cup of coffee, while also reading a newspaper.
"I still don't understand why you woke me up so early, though."
"It's a new day for both of us, and a fresh start too!" The orange tabby replied as he swiftly took out a freshly baked waffle from the toaster and handed it to their baby sisters, Jug and Zig Zag. The two tortoiseshell kittens tore away at the breakfast meal without hesitation.
Cole set down his newspaper and then finished his mug of coffee. "Ever stopped to consider who will watch over our sisters?" He asked, his finger pointing at the kittens.
"They have school too, silly!" Marmalade laughed.
"Besides, our cousin Sunburn is picking them up today in the afternoon." As the two cats finished their meals, Cole made notice of the supplies near the front door to their house. Turning to look, his face was scrunched up in suspicion.
"What's all this?" He asked, pointing his clawed finger at them.
"Ah, yes! I went out to the supermarket to buy you a new lunchbox, a backpack, a new set of pencils, and then some notebooks! I also charged your phone along with it!" Marmalade trilled, his smile brightening. He helped Cole load them inside his new bag and slunked it onto his back.
The orange tabby cat beamed happily while the fluffy, black cat let out an embarrassed grunt.
Marmalade grabbed his brother's hand roughly and dragged him out the door. "Come on," he said, "we don't want to be late on our first day!"
They waved goodbye to their little sisters and closed the door behind them, ready to start on a new day. The long walk to FluffTuber High was a treacherous journey for both cats, as they had to endure aching legs and wobbling paws.
However, they happened to have nearly lost themselves on their way, but were guided to safety by a friendly squirrel.
The orange tabby cat held his brother's hand tightly as they finally made it to a building - a building that looked as if it could be a hospital, or a business corporation.
Upon further inspection, it was FluffTuber High, the school that Cole and Marmalade would be attending for the rest of their lives.
Marmalade's face started growing with a smile while Cole sighed in disbelief, eyeing his brother severely with a cold gaze.
