Chapter Text
The smell of coffee wafts through the air. Arabica. Robusta. Liberica. All of the types of coffee beans were stocked up, freshly obtained.
Drip. Drip. Drip.
A sight fills the room as the coffee drips through the filter. A young man watches the coffee before he steps away and looks at what else was at his disposal. He sets his sight on the stove and oven in front of him.
What kind of cafe serves food? …Okay. A lot do, but I am not ready to be using this thing.
He decides to make his way to the pantry and fridge to see what he can cook up. He grabs his ingredients.
Potatoes, check. Half-and-half, check. Seasoning, check. Eggs, check. Oil, onions, carrots, lamb meat, check. I think I have everything else, also.
The man quickly gets to work, preparing the food in an orderly fashion. He puts the food in the oven and turns it on. He makes his way over to his coffee, which had finished brewing while he was preparing the food. He grabbed a coffee cup which had been etched in an elaborate fashion.
Good Luck Sunny! Mommy loves you!
His shoulders relax and a small smile eases its way onto his face.
…Thanks mom. I love you too.
The contents of the pot fall into the cup as the steam and aroma fill Sunny’s nose. He can’t help but smile even more at the pleasant smell. He puts the cup of steaming coffee to his mouth and carefully sips so as to not burn his tongue. He closes his eyes and lets out a breath.
“This is the life… Coffee and probably good food.”
He takes a look around and decides to see how the furnishings are, while his food is about to finish. He drags his finger across the table and looks to see no dust whatsoever. The wood of the tables looked old fashioned, but homely at the same time. He sat down on the chair and felt himself sink into the cushion.
Mom really outdid herself… She didn’t need to buy all of the furnishings for me.
He decides to take a step outside with his coffee cup in hand. The evening breeze flows through his hair. He looks up at the wooden sign that had the cafe’s name etched into it.
Cafe Omori… Wonder why I choose that name of all things.
He scratches his head, savoring his coffee while contemplating his state of affairs.
Even after I randomly told her I wanted to open a cafe, she still supported me… I feel bad for even thinking about the idea that she might not love me.
BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.
Sunny walks back into the cafe, locking the door behind him. He takes his shepherd’s pie out of the oven before cutting into it. He eats his pie and finishes his coffee.
Yep. Coffee and definitely good food.
He cleans up and walks up the stairs to a small, but cozy room. He lays his head onto the pillow, closing his eyes and slowly succumbing to sleep.
“Tomorrow’s the first day of my new life. I guess we’ll see how it goes… Mari…”
