Chapter Text
Katsuki was on the floor crying and hitting himself and begging for attention from his mother and her co-workers in his own special way. He always wanted to be in the spotlight and he didn’t know what to do with himself when that wasn’t the case. So he made a scene. His brain felt like jelly, disgustingly jiggling around in his skull as he repeatedly pounded his fists against his head. It hurt like hell but he just couldn’t stop. His self control jumped out of the window and left a mess.
One of Mitsuki’s work friends reached out, intending to caress his face as a means of soothing him. But the blonde woman slapped his hand away before he got a chance. “Don’t give him what he wants. He needs to learn that he can’t always be the centre of attention.” She murmured. He hit himself harder and cried louder, a small scream escaping his throat. “Are you sure we shouldn’t help? I’d hate for you to have to take him to the hospital because of this.” The lady behind her whispered. Mitsuki shrugged. “He’ll be fine. He’s not that strong, so he can’t do all that much damage, y’know?”
The boys’ breath halted. Salty tears kept on rolling down Katsuki’s puffy red cheeks as he built himself to let out a deafening wail of emotional agony. ‘…not that strong…?’ He felt like he was going to melt under the heat and the pressure of his overwhelming emotions. It was too much for his tiny body to handle and he collapsed as a result.
Katsuki woke up alone in a silent darkness. He was quick to analyze his surroundings. The space was tight, and clothes hung above him. Before him was a tall door with a round, silver nob. The kids sat up and reached for it. It was locked.
He felt the heat of anger rise within his body once again and he slammed a clenched fist against the wooden door. He repeated this action multiple more times and bellowed for his mother to come let him out. Nothing happened.
His heart rate increased and he began hyperventilating. Tears built up again and he hammered the wall harder than before, occasionally deciding to hit his head against the thick white wood.
High pitched squeals and sticky-sounding demands for his mother were all that left his mouth for the next thirty minutes. At that point, his forehead was bruised and his fists were sore and bloody. His vision was blurry and he felt like he was going to die. But he wasn’t willing to give up. Despite what Mitsuki said about him, he was strong. Strong people never give up.
Another fifteen minutes of uncontrollable self-torture went by before the door flew open and he finally saw light. Mitsuki was looking down at him. Katsuki sniffed. “What the hell, Katsuki?! Can’t you just control yourself for an hour?! That’s all I ask from you and you can’t even do that!”
The kid weakly punched the ground.
“You were ignoring me!” He whimpered. “You can’t always be in the spotlight, you fucking brat!” She shot back at him. He had nothing to say to that.
She stared at him for a moment with her soul-piercing red eyes and took a small breath. She bent down to scoop her baby boy up into her arms. “You hurt yourself a lot. I’m gonna run you a bath and then you’re going to go to bed, okay?” Her tone was gentler and her eyes looked kind. She rubbed her ice cold hand against Katsuki’s cheek and smiled. The sudden switch up threw Katsuki off guard, but it only took a moment for him to adjust.
“I hope you realize how much I love you.”
She meant it. She loved him more than anything in the world and she only wanted what was best for him. But sometimes, she took it too far and ended up hurting him as a result.
After letting him soak in a hot bath for a long while, she helped him get dressed in his favourite All Might pyjamas with soft fabric and, “I AM HERE!” Boldly written in red and blue letters on front.
Mitsuki tucked him in and kissed his bruised forehead. She sighed. “I went too far today. I’m sorry.” He smacked his lips, but gave no real response. The blonde woman walked toward the light and cracked open his bedroom door.
Before she walked out she said one last thing.
“Please forgive me.”
