Work Text:
Jim’s still half asleep when he first hears it. A soft purring noise radiating from the warm body in front of him. His eyes opened as he focused ahead, gaze drifting past the inky abyss of Spock hair towards the person itself.
“Spock?” His voice was soft with the knowledge that it required less volume to wake a sleeping Vulcan. He, feeling Spock shift from where his fingers ghosted over the bare skin of his hip. “Are you..” he began, the noise cutting off as Spock flinched under his touch. His eyes wide and Jim could see the tint of green that spread across his ears and no doubt across his cheeks and nose.
A muffled groan replaced the purring, Spock bringing the blanket up and burying his face into the cloth. A response so human that it made Jim smile wider. His hand rising from his waist and up his chest, pulling himself closer to the Vulcan. “I love you.” Jim spoke, his lips grazing across the exposed skin of his neck, “So. Much.” he finished, pulling Spock closer to him.
“Can I hear it again?” Jim asked, lips brushing along the nape of his neck where hair met skin and set Spock’s whole body on fire. His fingers tangled in Spock's chest hair. “Please?” Jim begged, and Spock closed his eyes and let out another purr.
