The sun coming inside their room through the small curtain opening woke Will up. Nico was still sleeping next to him. He couldn’t believe even after all these years that the life he had with Nico was real. He got out of bed trying not to wake Nico up. It was weird how quiet the house was early in the morning when everyone was still asleep.
He saw that it was 7 am. He suspected that their youngest was already awake and they had a few moments before she started crying for her morning bottle. He opened the door of Jasmine’s room. He quickly discovered that the crib was empty which made Will ran back to his and Nico’s room. “Nico! Do you have Jasmine?” He whispered to him.
Nico had just woken up. “What? Isn’t she in her room?” Nico got out of bed.
“No, she isn’t!” They started searching around the house. “She can’t get out of her crib. Her room is next to ours. We have the intercom.”
Nico paused on the top of the stairwell. “Hold up. We forgot something.” He started walking back to the corridor. “Or someone.” He opened Bianca’s room. Bianca was sleeping with Jasmine next to her. She had made a pillow wall so that Jasmine didn’t fall off the bed. “I told you that she would get her way.” He smiled at Will. Bianca was begging them to let her sleep with Jasmine which was a bit risky considering Bianca was 5 and Jasmine was still a baby. But If Bianca wanted to do something she would do everything in her power to do so.
“Good morning daddy, good morning papa,” Bianca said smiling as soon as she opened her eyes. “Jasmine slept with me.”
“Bee baby, you have to let Jasmine sleep in her crib.” Will kneeled next to Bianca’s bed.
“But she likes sleeping with me,” Bianca noted innocently. Jasmine continued to sleep next to her sister. “See, she is still sleeping.”
“Yes, we know, but we got worried about her.” Nico stroke Bianca’s hair out of her face. Jasmine woke up and started reaching out for her parents, Will scooped her into his arms.
“But she is safe with me. I’m her big sister.” She said proudly. Ryder walked inside Bianca’s room still half-asleep. “Ryder, come on my bed too. We can have a sleepover together!”
“Tonight maybe, but we have to go to school, remember?” Will said.
Bianca got out of her bed as she remembered that it was the first day back to school. “I am going to 1st grade today.” She opened her closet and started getting her clothes out. “I need help!” She asked as she struggled to take her clothes from the high shelves.
“I’ll help you.” Nico rushed to her side.
“I’ll go downstairs make breakfast. Are you coming, Ryder?” Will asked their son.
“I need waffles.” He said grumpily. Ryder had inherited Nico’s morning mood.
“Let’s go make waffles then.” Ryder went downstairs with Will and Jasmine.
That was the kind of morning that they wanted every day.
