Learning to Move Forward

Summary:

Technoblade and Tommy have a strange encounter with a small ghostly sheep hybrid, weeks after the former server admin, Dream, ended his life.
Emotional connections, grief, and hiding the existence of the spirit... Tommy had no idea he'd get this attached.

He just had to keep the secret for a little longer. Who knows what could happen if the Warden himself were to learn of Dream's strange return.

Or

Technoblade and Tommy attempt to befriend Dream's ghost, all the while trying to keep said ghosts existence a secret from the entire server, with mixed results.

Notes:

Yes yes I know. "You already wrote a ghost dream fic and havent finished it!"

I kinda lost motivation to finish it... and had a better idea for a new one :)

Trust me when I say this, lots of fun angst is in store for this fic.

Chapter Text

It first appeared near the water. Staring aimlessly into the endless deep blue, dangerously close to the edge of a cliff.

No one saw it when it appeared. Just like no one saw him when he jumped.

The next place it appeared was near Tommy’s house, it’s hollow neon green eyes staring at the ground as if it was the most interesting thing in the world. It’s pupils completely gone, neon green tears endlessly dripping down its face. When the toxic looking liquid touched the ground, it sizzled and made the grass wilt.

3 weeks after its first appearance, that was when Technoblade himself came into contact with it. It was sitting on the ground, silently crying, it's tears melting the snow around him. The piglin hybrid had no idea what to do. At first, he thought it was just some random child, didn't look a day over 12.

But then he noticed the horns… and the sheep-like ears. His eyes focused on the mask, floating slightly above the child's head. Despite the mask being slightly different, downturned eyes and a sad open mouth all of which were dripping with the hazardous green liquid, there was no doubt who was this child's identity.

6 weeks ago. Dream escaped prison. 5 weeks ago… Dream took his own last canon life. He let his weakened body drop into the water, down down down he went. Water filled his lungs, he couldn't breath.

He loved it. It was finally over.

Sapnap was the one to find his body.

---

4 weeks after it’s first appearance, Tommy found it. Just like Techno, it didn’t take him long to figure out the child’s identity, no matter how much it didn’t make sense to him. Tommy’s first thought was run run run but curiosity got the better of him. Obviously, Dream wasn’t a child and more importantly… He died over a month ago, which brought up the question on why this one resembled him so much, no matter how strangely different the mask was. So despite his better judgement, he made his way towards the small boy.

It sat on the edge of a cliff, nearby Tommy’s own home. It stared out into the horizon, barely moving. Tommy wasn’t even sure if it was breathing. “H….Hello-?” Tommy called out once he was about 8 feet away. The boy turned around, wide-eyed. Tommy could now see its hollow green eyes and endless green tear tracks. It was shaking. “...D-...Dream?” He tried, taking a step closer.

But that was all it took, the boy disappeared… well less disappeared, and more melted away into nothing. Leaving Tommy alone, and completely shocked

“...wh-.... WHAT THE FUCK, MAN?!

---

It took a week until Tommy spotted it again. This time, he tried a different approach. He slowly made his way towards him. Unfortunately, his clumsy ass decided to step on, then trip over a twig, startling it once more, causing it to disappear. Clearly, Tommy needed to try something else to try and get closer to the strange boy.

He wasn’t stupid, the second interaction just confirmed what he figured out during the first one. This boy was Dream’s ghost. Just like Ghostbur.

However, what he couldn’t wrap his head around was, why did he look so young? He had very limited knowledge on ghosts, his only long term interactions with them was Ghostbur, and that was only one. Who knows how vastly different ghosts can be from one another. But Tommy was a big, smart and special man (It’s true, he said it himself) He could figure it out himself.

Right?
