"Oh, no, no nonono, please, don't do this to me—"
"Rodney…"
"I need you," Rodney pleaded. "You know that! I've never pretended not to—"
"Rodney—"
"Just, c'mon, just a little bit, that's all I'm asking for, just meet me halfway, here—"
"McKay!" John snapped, and Rodney finally looked up. "For cryin' out loud, stop yelling at the coffee maker. I brought you some."
He was holding out a mug. A coffee mug, full of wonderful, fragrant, still steaming hot coffee. Rodney didn't know where he'd gotten it, and couldn't care less.
"Oh my god, I love you," Rodney mumbled, cradling the mug in both hands, savouring that perfect bitter bite as it exploded on his tongue.
John's ears went pink. "Alright, relax. It's just a cup of coffee," he said, sounding inordinately pleased with himself.
Rodney didn't have the heart to admit he'd actually been… talking to the coffee again.
