Chapter Text
In the eternal snowy lands of Snezhnaya, the cold was always prevalent, and it was no different in the small village of Morepesok. The seaside settlement had few inhabitants, but our protagonist, a fourteen-year-old boy then known as Ajax, was one of them. He lived with his parents and five other siblings in a mediocre house and lived a very ordinary life. However, due to bad weather conditions, they sometimes had to go without, eating what they had in stock and buying supplies from traders from far away.
The coastal villages meant that fishing boats often sailed the waves, but there were also fish in the depths of the frozen lakes. Father and son often went ice-fishing in the ice-covered waters and this was no different now. Ajax had prepared everything with his father the day before, and as the sun rose, they set off. When they arrived, they used pickaxes to cut holes in the ice and watch the fishes move. Sometimes they had no luck, the sun was high and they still hadn't caught anything. Somehow, that was the way to describe this day and the young boy didn't like it much.
“How much longer must we wait? I'm so bored!” Ajax, with his ginger hair and blue eyes, grimly sucked on one of the holes in the ice.
“You know, in life, you can't have everything right away, there are things you have to wait for. Fishing is like that, it takes patience,” his father explained. It was clear where his son got his eye and hair color from. The latter, on the other hand, the man wore much shorter, with strong hair on his face.
“Father! Tell me about your old adventures! When you beat a wolf and a bear!” the boy suddenly brightened, knowing that he could easily banish his boredom this way.
“All right, my son, but watch out for the fish, too, lest it should escape!”
As soon as his father started to tell his story, Ajax saw the events in his mind's eye and imagined himself as the protagonist of these exploits. He always dreamt that one day he would be able to experience these adventures and be part of something exciting and great.
