Rayleigh sighed as he looked out over Sabaody, looking to the side - to the woman who had been here for a long time, at his side, and on this part of the world. She had been here - in Sabaody - longer than he had.
He had only found his way back here after his captain gave up his life to give all of them a chance out there. But Rayleigh had only been on the sea because of Roger, he hadn’t wanted fame or fortune. The same reason he took so long to find his place in this world after Roger left it - he needed company that wanted him there.
That was, until he ran into Shakky again, from where they had met on rival pirate crews years before, she was now owner of a bar on the last island before the New World - happy in her anonymity among everything that happened here. But also keeping an eye out for either those crews that liked (such as Whitebeard and recently - Shanks), but also to know when the new Rookies came through, to know just what to expect from them.
Sitting here, in the Ferris Wheel of all things, Shakky laughed, “You need to lighten up, Ray, you know Roger wouldn’t want this for you, or anyone else on his crew.”
Rayleigh nodded, “I know that, but after being a part of something for so long, it is odd to suddenly not have that.”
Shakky sighed, “You have me, isn’t that good enough.”
Looking at the woman in his life, Rayleigh nodded, “I guess it is. Especially when we can keep an eye out for those brats on the seas.”
Shakky nodded, pressing a kiss to his cheek as they went back to people watching. For the fact that the both of them were quite notorious pirates, they managed to get away with living the quiet life here. Maybe that was a good thing too, neither wanted to outclass the navy officers right now, they would leave that for the brats running around.
