“Ok ok Sai. There’s no reason to be nervous,” Sai talked to himself. “You’re perfectly fine,” Sai hyped himself up. Sai held the plastic bag tighter and raised his hand to knock on the door but couldn’t bring himself to hit the door. “Ughh what am I doing,” Sai sighed. “I know Senkuu… Just because you went overseas for a few months, nothing changed. It’s just a simple sleepover. Righttttt, simple- but what if I got the wrong snacks? Or I say something wrong… or-,” Sai started to ramble.
Senkuu and Sai had been talking the summer at Ryusui’s party before Sai went back over to India for his studies. They had been talking online for a while and Sai developed a small crush on the scientist.
Sai was so lost in thought he didn’t notice the door opening.
“Or- Or,”
“Sai?” A voice asked. “What are you doing…?”
“Wah! Ahh!” Sai almost jumped out of his skin.
The younger one stood in the doorway, leaning on the frame looking at Sai with a confused look. “Bad time?”
“Oh no,” Sai tried to regain his composure. “Sorry, just muttering to myself,”
“I could tell,” Senkuu hummed.
“Yeah sorry about that,”
“It’s cool. You coming in or just standing there in the snow?” Senkuu teased, moving out the way.
“Right right,” Sai stepped into Senkuu’s apartment.
It was cute. A nice-sized living room with a smaller kitchen and a few more doors. “Nothing much but it works. Surely nothing like the Namari mansions you’ve grown up in,” Senkuu joked.
“You mean butlers and servants don’t wait on you hand and foot? How strange,” Sai sarcastically asked. “No one following you around everywhere?” Sai stepped into the living room.
“Nope sounds tiring,” Senkuu shrugged, changing his shoes and the front. “
“Huh?? Oh shoot wait- wait wait,” Sai stepped back and changed his shoes as well.
“You didn’t change your shoes either?” Senkuu genuinely questioned.
“No, the maids would normally clean the floor constantly,” Sai explained. “Sorry, Senkuu,”
“Ehh it’s just snow, It’ll melt,” Senkuu replied. “Plus I just want to kick your ass in Mario kart,” Senkuu added.
“Oh it’s on!” Sai put on the house slippers and stepped into the house.
“Ahhh where did those nails come from?” Sai made a sharp left turn to try and miss it.
“Keep that up and you’re going to end up in third,” Senkuu grinned.
“We still got one more lap to go,” Sai dodged a few nails in the road.
“Ohhh I’d like to see you try to pass me,”
“Justtt wait a secondddd,” Sai leaned to get a powerup. The powerup wheel spun and landed on the three shells. Sai threw one of them at second place and knocked him out and passed out. Only a few meters left Sai threw the next one and hit Senkuu right before the finish line. “Hah!”
“Ohhh that was cheap,” Senkuu groaned as Sai passed the finish line and right behind him was Senkuu.
“Hey I won, all that matters,” Sai hummed.
“Next round we’re doing extra hard then,” Senkuu replied.
Senkuu reached for his monster on the coffee table. Sai leaned a bit out of the way.
Too close. Ohh shoot I’m blushing, aren’t I?
“You good?” Senkuu teased, before taking a sip of his monster.
“Oh yeah fine,” Sai replied, not able to look at Senkuu.
“Hmmh,” Senkuu raised an eyebrow. “Round two then?”
It was the last lap again. Senku and Sai were almost neck and neck, only a few 100 meters from the finish line.
“Well it's been a good game-,” Sai paused when he felt a sudden pressure on his shoulder, Sai glanced over to look. Senkuu was leaning on Sai’s shoulder.
Sai’s face went bright red in a second. Sai dropped his controller and stared at Senkuu, still leaning on Sai’s shoulder.
“Ha!” Senkuu crossed the finish line. “Looks like I win,” Senkuu git up and took another sip of monster.
“What? No fair!” Sai blurted.
“Hey I won, all that matters,” Senkuu stuck his tongue out.
“I-,” Sai stuttered.
“Maybe next round,” Senkuu grinned. “But give me a sec. I need to go to the bathroom,”
“Ohh um sure,” Sai replied, still a bit flustered.
Senkuu stood up and walked over to the bathroom and stepped in. Once Senkuu got in he hid his face in his hands. Senkuu felt like his heart may explode.
“Shit why did I do that…,” Senkuu mumbled to himself.
