Work Text:

Leonard was not sick. He wasn't. He maybe just had a little cold of sorts, barely anything to worry about.

"You're all set-" He cut himself off with a sneeze. When he opened his mouth again, he sneezed again. "Ensign," He managed after a moment. The redshirt stared at him, eyes comically wide and he nodding, quickly darting out of med bay. Leonard stood there, swaying slightly. He wiped his nose with a tissue ad the sound he blew into it was wet and loud.

"Ew god," Christine grimaced from across the room. "Leonard go home."

"No," He snapped, his voice almost as stuffy sounding as his nose. "I'm fine."

He was sick of hearing that he wasn't. He wasn't sick alright and everyone and their mother was telling him otherwise. He was fine. First it was Christine, then Jim, then Nyota and even Spock had made a comment about his health like Leonard wasn't a damn doctor. He would know if he was sick!

But no, now they all wanted to play doctor. He attended another redshirt and kind of missed his boyfriend, who was down in Engineering. He missed his warm voice and smile. Montgomery would most certainly understand working through some allergies. He'd be fine soon enough.

Scotty was surprised for the reason he was called to the bridge. He assumed the controls on the captain's chair were malfunctioning or maybe the bridge replicators were in need of reprogramming. But that wasn't the case at all. He arrived on the bridge to meet a frustrated captain, looking like he could break a concrete block in half.

His face immediately brightened when he saw Scotty and he beamed, "Scotty! Thank god!"

Jim ran over to him and Scotty cracked his knuckles, getting ready to work. "Captain, what needs fixing?"

"Your boyfriend," The captain answered heatedly. That was not the answer he was expecting.

"The doctor?"

"Yes!"

"What's the matter with him?"

"He's sick but refuses to take the day off. He's driving everyone nuts!"

Montgomery's eyes narrowed in determination. "Ah'm on it."

Leonard was genuinely surprised when Montgomery walked through sick bay's door and smiled, "Montgomery, dear!" And then he frowned. "What did you do?"

Montgomery didn't say anything, but continued walking toward Leonard with a determined pace. The doctor found himself unceremoniously picked up and hauled over Montgomery's shoulder. Montgomery carried him out of medbay, and it wasn't long before protests rose to the doctor's lips.

"What are you doing? Put me down I have a-a job to do! Montgomery!"

It was no use, the engineer carried him all the way to their quarters, despite the doctor's words. When they got to their quarters, Leonard's protests quieted down and he gave in. Montgomery set Leonard gently on the bed and the doctor would have probably glared at him if he had the strength. Leonard laid back against the covers, closing his eyes.

"I'm not sick."

"Mmhm. Ah know ye're not," Montgomery teased. He sat down on the bed next to Leonard and brushed a few strands of hair from his face. "Mo chridhe, ye're burning up. And ye sound like ye're talking through a pillow."

"I do n-" Leonard cut himself off, his face heating up as he heard himself. Okay so maybe he was a little sick. He groaned turning his face toward the pillow.

"It's okay to be sick, love," Montgomery cooed, massaging his back affectionately. "Everyone has bad days."

"I have rep-" Leonard raised his head to sneeze into his arm. "Reports. To file."

"That can wait. Take some time for yerself," The engineer purred, laying down next to Leonard and pulling him close.

"I'll take a short nap and be back to work in an hour, you'll see," Leonard mumbled, although he wasn't complaining as he slumped against Montgomery and fell asleep.

"Ah'll be here when ye wake up," Montgomery sighed, holding his boyfriend close.

Spoiler alert Leonard did not go back to work for several days. Cuddles with your boyfriend do that, ya know.
