Jin Ling scowls at him, putting the book down and tossing a pillow at his head, “Shut up.” He huffs a bit, “I don’t have to do anything. It doesn’t matter, anyway. I can’t kiss him, it… wouldn’t be a good idea.”
“Ah, star-crossed lovers! Torn apart by fate!” Zizhen collapses down onto the bed, fake swooning, “How romantic.”
Jin Ling rolls his eyes, “It’s not romantic, A-Zhen, it just sucks.”
A comfortable silence settles between them. Zizhen watches Jin Ling pick his book back up and curse at having lost the page he was on. He gathers his courage and breaks the silence, “If your mystery man won’t kiss you like you want, you could kiss me instead.”
