“Ugh, this is the end of me..” Ren laid down on the road, almost losing his consciousness.
While walking across the road to go to school, a truck suddenly hit him dead right as he was about to retweet the new announcement of an artist he liked. ‘ Why do I have such luck? I remember how I embarrassed myself in front of the voice actor I really liked..’
‘Oh I guess this isn’t a bad way to go, there was supposed to be a math test today lol.’
“Man, I wished I could’ve at least gone to the convention my favorite doujinshi artist was attending.”
And that was the last words of Ren Amamiya before he went unconscious.

“Wha-!” Ren suddenly wakes up. His position seems to be sitting down in a classroom with a bunch of people. The dude who was waking him up had short yellow hair. ‘ Hmm.? wait he seems familiar..?’ “Akira, I didn’t think you would fall asleep in the middle of class! You were a pretty diligent kid so it was a surprise for the teacher too. Gotta be grateful it was Ms. Kawakami ‘cause she got a soft spot on you.”
Akira.. Who the hell is Akira?
“You good there? You seem to be in a trance.” ‘Oh shit I have to respond.’
“Oh uhm yeah, I guess it’s because I was staying up late studying haha..”
“You gotta have a good rest y'know, i’m your best buddy so ask me for help sometimes! Though not about studying, kay?”
“Yup! Sure I’ll take up on that offer! Haha..!” ‘Way to go me!’
‘Okay since I have no idea what's happening, I have to rely on my observation skills.’ As he looks around he sees a notebook on his table, he decides to check it. The book was signed by ‘Akira Kurusu’ so perhaps that’s the name of the owner. ‘Hmm? Didn’t that blonde guy just call me Akira? Did I get reincarnated??’
“Akira” stood up and decided to go outside of the classroom to clear his thoughts.
‘This building is familiar..’ Ren now accepting the fact he will go by Akira now, he looks throughout the halls. Akira had a note of his weekly schedule on his pocket uniform which came in handy since he didn’t know what to do. And while thinking too deeply while walking, he bumped into a pretty muscular student and before he tried to apologize, memories about his current self came into him.
Akira Kurusu, 17 years old, New student of the academy, a commoner and friends with the well known painter, Yusuke Kitagawa and another commoner by the name of Ryuji Sakamoto. Attended the academy two months ago. Excels at shadow magic.
‘Wow okay, that’s good enough information about me.’
“Are you okay?” The guy's voice spurred Akira from his thinking, and when Akira tried to look at the person he just bumped into, his voice got caught in his throat. ‘He’s Akihiko isn’t he?! The guy from that one otome game I played?!”
Silver hair and quite muscular body, Akihiko Sanada.
One of the capture targets of the game The Heart of Marigold. And Yusuke Kitagawa, Akira’s presumed friend, that name clicked something in his brain.
The famous painter with blue hair… Yusuke Kitagawa, another capture target.
‘Oh shit, I got reincarnated into that one otome game!’ He screamed in his head.

“Hm? An otome game?” Ren looks at the console that Futaba just threw at him with a game already displaying it’s main title. “Yup! You just said you were bored weren’t you? Well you are in luck since my friend accidentally gave me this game that I already own!” “Won’t playing a visual novel be more boring?”
Futaba grins at that, “That’s where you’re wrong buddy! This specific otome game was highly appraised for the inclusion of an RPG system! It’s rare for visual novels to have an actual battle system, that’s why this game has been quite popular lately! It’s your average magic school otome game but the storyline and beautiful art makes it the best otome game ever released!”
“ The Heart of Marigold ..? From the title itself it seems like a cheesy game.” Ren complained.
“Just play it first, then make an opinion on it!” Futaba replied. “Okay, sure, but what’s the story even about?”
Futaba switched to geek mode almost immediately.
In a world where humans can use magic, you, a commoner, was accepted to attend the school where both commoners and royals will be taught magic equally. With your parents dying because of a beast attack, you set on a journey to learn magic so you can protect those who you care about! And maybe, you may find love along the way.
“Cliché.”
“Yeah, I know but the guys are handsome and one of the characters is voiced by S*git* Tom*k*zu!!! The same VA as my favorite from Bun*L! How can I resist not buying it!” Futaba refuted.
And from then, Ren finished all of the achievements, unlocking the secret route that caused a lot of controversy from the HoM fandom. You see, some otome games usually introduce a specific amount of characters to romance but sometimes there are secret routes which are characters you didn’t know you could romance. And HoM wasn’t an exception to that.
In HoM you get to date three of the available characters, Yosuke Hanamura, the poster boy for the game, Akihiko Sanada, the athletic one, and Yusuke Kitagawa the painter. The secret route that caused controversy was the character Goro Akechi.
Goro Akechi was one of the villains in the game and died in all of the good routes of the game, so when fans knew you could date him, they were excited we could save him.
That was wrong. Akechi still died in the secret route, his route ended in a bittersweet way, being able to at least have one person love him was enough for him to die peacefully.
Fans were outraged of course.

The controversy was quite big which led to the company making DLCs where you can romance the other side characters like Ryuji Sakamoto Or Yuu Narukami, which of course fans weren't happy that they didn’t get what they want but satisfied that they can romance their other favorite characters.
Ren on the other hand actually really liked Goro, his design is very pretty and his story is sympathetic. Ren was satisfied with the bittersweet ending because in the end, Goro was happy and that was enough for his little otaku heart. Though he also wished he could’ve lived.
Futaba was an anti-Goro though with her famous quote about him being “Just because he suffered, doesn’t mean he has to make others suffer!”

‘Akira! Please focus right now!’
Oh yeah! We still have something right now! “Oh, sorry about that Sanada-san! I was in deep thought.” Akira hastily replied, Akira can’t quite remember what each character is like since it’s been long, but he was sure Akihiko isn’t hostile.
“Please be careful next time.” Akihiko strolled off after Akira gave him a nod.
Akira remembers the time system in the game where the dates were displayed at the left side corner of the screen, so he asked a passerby what date it is, “Hm? Oh it’s Tuesday XXXXXXXX.”
Oh, the main character will appear tomorrow.
You can change her name in the game but her official name is Kotone Shiomi, since there was a manga adaptation of the game.
‘It would’ve been fun if I were reincarnated as the MC since I would get cool powers, but I guess being a mob is not bad, since I wouldn’t get involved in conflicts..’ Akira sighed.
Akira checked the schedule and it seems the previous class he was in was the last, so he should just go back to the dorms.
Walking through the halls, Akira could see a garden in one of the windows, looking through it, he sees a mop of brown hair reading a book.
‘How lonely..’
Akira almost cried seeing him alive. Something that he wouldn’t admit to Futaba was the fact he actually cried at Goro’s death.
Akira made up his mind, like any other isekai stories, he’s going to make sure Goro Akechi, the villain of the story, stays alive and happy!
