“You know Smalls, Crutchie, Race, ‘n Izzy’re all watchin’, right?” Jack asked, smiling slightly.
“I know,” Katherine replied, her eyes twinkling. “Race isn’t nearly as quiet as he likes to think he is.”
“You also know that they’re waitin’ for us to kiss, then, I’m guessin’?” Jack continued, raising an eyebrow and glancing in the direction he knew his siblings were hiding.
“Yeah, I know that too.”

“You guys can come out now,” Katherine called, turning to look at the corner they knew Smalls, Crutchie, Izzy, and Race were hiding behind.
Crutchie: aaaaaaaaand there it is
The four shuffled out from behind the corner, Race at the front (to stay as far away from Smalls as possible), Crutchie smiling sheepishly behind him, Izzy smirking shamelessly, and Smalls typing quickly on her phone.
“Race, calm down, we won’t let Smalls kill you,” Katherine said. Jack tilted his head to the side, and Katherine continued, “Fine, I won’t let Smalls kill you.”
Jack sighed, “Crutchie, it’s good to see ya, Izzy, have some shame, at least, and Sophie, stop furiously textin’ Elmer and Albert ‘bout how you’re gonna kill Race.”
Smalls looked up from her phone, staring Jack in the eye defiantly as she finished typing, pressing send and turning it off.
“So…” Izzy started, glancing around, “How was your date?”
Katherine rolled her eyes fondly, “I think you all already know that, don’t you?”
Race gave Katherine his most winning smile, Crutchie grinned awkwardly, Izzy shrugged noncommittally, and Smalls smirked.
“Probably woulda been better if we’d been left alone,” Jack muttered.
“You weren’t supposed to know!” Race said defensively, and Jack snorted.
“Race, that mission failed the second you agreed to go along.”
“Hey!”
Everyone laughed, and Race glared.
“I hate you all,” he muttered, crossing his arms like an unhappy toddler.
“Nah, if ya hated us you wouldn’t’a been squealing so loud every time me n’ Kath looked at each other,” Jack replied, raising his eyebrows.
“Shut up, would ya?” Race groaned, burying his face in his hands.
Jack grinned, “Never.”
