Sonic looked down at his wrist as the clock struck midnight. There it was. The name of his soulmate appeared on him. Shadow? He covered it with his other hand. There was no way that Shadow was his soulmate, was there? "There has to be some mistake. He hates me. Maybe Tails can fix this."
He headed over to the fox's workshop. "Tails? I need help with something.
The two-tailed fox looked over at him. "Let me guess; you got someone who hates you as your soulmate." Sonic nodded as he sat down next to him. "Nothing I can do about it, Sonic."
The blue hedgehog let out a sigh. "Guess I have to tell him." He got up and started to go for a run.
"Sonic?" He stopped as he saw Shadow stand in front of him. "It's very late. I would have thought you would be at home with Tails."
Sonic sighed. "I was, but I needed to see you."
Shadow tilted his head. "Me? What for?"
The blue speedster looked down and held his arm out. "You're my soulmate."
Shadow smiled and hugged him. "Oh, Sonic, you don't know how happy that makes me."
Sonic blinked a bit. "You are? I thought you hated me."
The black hedgehog held him close. "Never, I was just always too scared to say anything."
