Work Text:

“Isn’t this place so cool!?” Tim exclaimed looking around the big pool of a local London hotel.

“So cool!” Sasha exclaimed, looking around in wonder.

Martin had to agree it was pretty cool.

It was currently a Saturday afternoon and Tim had been able to score day passes to the pool at a very fancy hotel and they were quite excited. What made it better was that it was the middle of fall, so it was getting a little bit chilly out so there weren't as many people at the pool than there would be on a hot summer day.

And it was pretty exciting.

Well, three of them were excited anyway, Jon was…not as excited.

“I have work to do.” Jon grumbled under his breath, clutching the strap of his bag tightly.

“Aw, Jon! Don’t be like that.” Sasha said as she dropped her bag onto a chair.

“Yeah, boss! Take the day to chill at this fancy pool.” Tim said, also dropping his bag onto a chair and immediately ripping his shirt off.

“Let’s swim!” Tim exclaimed, running towards the pool.

“Tim! Sunscreen!” Sasha scolded him playfully and Tim groaned, walking back over to Sasha and grabbing the bottle and squirting a big glob into his hand.

Sasha took off her shirt and shorts, revealing the one-piece bright orange swimsuit underneath.

“Let me have some of that, Stoker.” She said, grabbing the bottle and squirting some in her hand as well.

Martin fiddled with the hem of his t-shirt, suddenly feeling a bit self-conscious about his body.

He wasn’t a fit athlete like Tim was, and he was never all that comfortable with taking his shirt off in public.

Mostly due to this mother.

“You ok, Martin?” Tim asked, giving him a gentle smile.

“O’Oh, uh, yeah.” Martin said hesitantly.

“We’re really happy you're here with us today, Martin.” Sasha said, beaming at him and Martin couldn't help the smile that spread on his face in return.

He slowly took off his shirt and Tim whistled, causing Martin to blush.

“Here you go!” Tim said, handing Martin the bottle of sunscreen and he accepted it with a thank you before starting to smear some on himself like how Tim and Sasha currently were doing.

“Jon?” Martin said, shyly holding the bottle out to the man and Jon scowled, grip tightening on the strap of his bag.

While Martin and Tim came with t-shirts and their swim trunks on and Sasha with her suit under a shirt and shorts, Jon was wearing a jumper, button up, and slacks with a coat over it that was much too warm for the mid-fall weather.

“Jon, c’mon! Did you at least wear your trunks? Are they under the posh slacks?” Tim asked and Jon glared at him, however the faint blush on his cheeks revealed him.

“You did wear them!” Tim yelled and pointed at him with glee.

“Shut up, Tim!” Jon yelled and scowled.

“Let’s get in!” Sasha exclaimed, shoving Tim and sprinting for the pool and jumping in.

“Hey, no fair!” Tim said, running after her and jumping in as well.

“Ah, it’s kinda cold!” Sasha yelled when she surfaced and Tim surfaced as well and proclaimed the same.

Martin set the bottle of sunscreen on the fourth chair that Jon would hopefully claim as his own before giving Jon a gentle smile and heading towards the pool himself. He walked over to the stairs and dipped a toe in.

“You gotta just jump in, Marto! Get used to it fast!” Tim explained before Sasha dunked him under water.

Ah, fine.

Martin walked over to the edge of the pool and jumped in, the water was a bit of a shock, but it wasn’t that bad. He was already pretty used to it by the time he resurfaced to the sound of Tim and Sasha cheering.

Tim, Sasha, and himself fooled around in the pool for a while, Jon standing rigidly by the pool chairs for the first several minutes and at one point they had all looked up to see Jon had disappeared.

Martin frowned. Did Jon really leave? Well, that wouldn't be completely surprising.

Unfortunately.

Tim splashed his hands down in the water.

“Did Jon really leave?” He asked, sounding a bit frustrated.

“His bag is on the chair.” Sasha pointed out and Tim and Martin both perked up.

“Jon!” Tim yelled out and Jon then rounded a corner, a large stack of towels in his arms.

“What?” He said, still sounding a bit snappish, but also tired.

“Just seeing where you went off to.” Tim responded, smiling.

Jon shrugged before sitting down on his lounge chair, moving his bag to the ground and lying back, covering himself with three of the towels and using another one as a pillow and snuggling down, curling onto his side.

“Is he…going to sleep?” Sasha whispered to the two of them.

“I think he might be.” Tim said, sounding shocked.

Martin was shocked, but happy that Jon looked like he was getting some rest.

“Right, let’s leave him to it, yeah?” Sasha said and Tim nodded, also both looking happy that Jon was getting some sleep.

The three of them messed around in the pool for another hour before putting in a poolside food order for themselves and Jon and then messing around again until it arrived.

They all calmored out of the water, rushing to what was left of the large towel stack that Jon had left them and bundled up against the chill.

“Eeee, it’s cold!” Tim exclaimed and Sasha giggled, wrapping a towel around herself, Martin doing the same.

Jon was effectively passed out in his lounge chair, bundled up in the towels and his coat, face smushed into his makeshift pillow and Sasha cooed at him.

Martin blushed, having to hide his face from them both and busied himself with grabbing his box of food.

Jon looked, well, very cute asleep in his chair.

Tim grinned and grabbed Jon’s box of food before walking over to Jon’s lounge chair and gently shaking his shoulder.

“Jon?” He said, keeping his voice gentle and Jon shifted in the chair.

“Tim?” He said and gosh he sounded so sleepy and so cute.

“We got you some food.” Tim said and Jon nodded, pulling himself into a semi-sitting position, keeping the towels tucked around himself and took the box of food from Tim.

Martin sat down in his chair, which happened to be the one next to Jon’s, and took a bite of his burger, trying to fight the blush that was trying to creep onto his face even more.

Tim and Sasha ate their food, still laughing and joking around while Jon slowly ate his sandwich, looking sleepy and cold even though it wasn’t that cold outside.

Well, Martin did have more ‘natural insulation’ than Jon did if you will.

Tim and Sasha tore through their food in record time before they were sprinting back into the water.

Jon ate half of his food before closing up his box and setting it aside, tugging the towels back up to his chin and curling up, but Martin could see him shivering.

“You ok, Jon?” Martin asked hesitantly, knowing that he would probably just get snapped at but instead Jon just sighed.

“It’s cold.” He said, sounding grumpy but also a bit miserable.

A thought dawned on Martin, and he knew he was risking his job for even mentioning it but…

“There's a hot tub here.” Martin said casually and was shocked when Jon actually hummed in thought.

“Maybe…maybe that would be nice.” Jon said hesitantly, before sitting up and pulling himself stiffly to his feet, his joints making a few awful noises that had Martin wincing.

Martin tried not to stare as Jon slowly shrugged out of his layers, laying his coat on the chair, and then his jumper, and then his belt.

All that was left was his button up and trousers and Martin was spiralling a bit.

Jon tugged off his trousers first, revealing black swim trunks and very skinny legs. Martin realized this was the first time he had seen Jon in shorts, and Jon’s legs were even skinnier than he thought they would be.

Then Jon was unbuttoning his shirt and tugging it off, shivering rather hard in the slightly chilly breeze and Martin’s face melted to one of concern when he saw the outline of Jon’s ribs trying to peek through his skin.

Oh. Was the first thought that went through Martin’s head.

Now he really realized why Jon was so cold now and all the time in the archives.

Martin stood and gestured for the hot tub. “Ready?”

Jon picked up two of the towels and wrapped them around himself before nodding and following after Martin to the hot tub.

Martin got in first, sitting down on the wrap around bench in the tub while Jon deposited his towels on a nearby chair and stepped in timidly at first but then submerged himself fully with a sigh of relief.

He sat down on the bench as well, his short height allowing him to keep himself submerged up to his shoulders in the water. Martin’s shoulders were out and a bit cold.

“Doing ok?” Martin took the risk to ask and Jon nodded.

“S’really warm.” Jon responded and Martin was astounded by how sleepy he sounded.

They sat in silence for several minutes, Martin zoning out a bit and then was startled when something fell against his shoulder and was even more startled when he saw it was Jon.

“Jon?” Martin whispered and was met with Jon’s even breathing, indicating that he was asleep.

Oh. Wow.

At least Martin was tall enough to keep Jon’s head above water.

“Hey, Marto!” Tim yelled and he heard his footsteps approaching him from behind, “Wheres- oh!”

Martin knew he was turning red again. “H’He’s ah, really sleepy today.”

“Yeah I guess so, we have to start keeping a closer eye on him.” Tim said, getting into the hot tub and peering into Jon’s sleeping face.

“Is he asleep?” Came Sasha's voice from behind as well before she also got into the hot tub and Tim nodded.

“We should let him sleep in here for a bit, he was so cold while sitting on the lounge chair before.” Martin suggested and Tim and Sasha both sat down on the bench in the tub as well and agreed.

The three of them sat and chatted for a bit, Jon stirred a few times but ultimately remained asleep. The poor thing must have been exhausted to fall asleep like this and Martin and the other two didn’t want to disturb him for the time being.

It wasn’t until they were all feeling the heat, all getting a little red hue on their cheeks, including Jon, did they decide to get out and dry off and start heading home.

“Jon? Jon, wake up.” Martin said gently, nudging Jon.

Jon slowly came around, eyes blinking open, however when he became more aware he looked shocked, flinching at the water and looking around with wide eyes.

“Why…huh?” Jon said, looking frazzled.

“You fell asleep in the hottub, bud.” Tim said, giving Jon a gentle pat on the shoulder.

“Let’s get out, we’ve been in here for too long, don’t want any of us to faint.” Sasha said, holding her hand out for Jon to take.

Jon nodded, grabbing her hand and she helped him up the stairs and onto the pool deck once more.

“S’cold. Really cold.” Jon said, voice still a bit groggy, and he hugged his thin arms around his chest and began to shake quite hard until Martin wrapped some towels around him quickly.

Then they all went to the locker rooms and got dried off and dressed back into their street clothes.

When Martin came out of the stall he got dressed in, he found Jon sitting on a bench wrapped back up in his thick coat and warm jumper still looking a bit chilled.

“Ready to go?” Martin asked and Jon nodded, following him back outside where Tim and Sasha were waiting before all getting into Tim’s car.

Tim dropped Jon off first seeing as he lived the closest to the pool they were at.

“Bye, boss!” Tim yelled after him, Martin and Sasha waving, and Jon gave them a small wave before going into his flat’s main entrance.

“Jon was good today.” Tim said fondly as he pulled away from the building.

“He was, I'm happy he didn’t try to leave.” Sasha agreed.

“I’m sure you had fun today, hm Marto?” Tim turned to him briefly and waggled his eyebrows, Martin going shades redder and Sasha laughed, loud and happy.

Soon after, Martin was getting dropped off and Tim and Sasha waved at him before driving away.

Martin smiled.

What a good day.

“Whoa, you ok there, boss?” Tim said and Martin looked up from his position by the break room counter to see Jon walking in, looking pretty rough and ill.

“Fine, fine.” Jon croaked, before coughing into his bent elbow.

Tim pursued his lips for a moment before looking a bit guilty.

“Was it being out in the cold on Saturday?” Tim asked and Jon’s eyes went wide.

“No! Well…yes. But it’s fine, I had, er…well I had fun.” Jon said huddling into the same coat he was wearing at the pool on Saturday.

Martin knew Jon was rushing to reassure them so they would include him next time and Martin couldn't help but feel a bit sad at that.

“Well next time we hang out we’ll make sure that you're wearing more layers.” Martin said and Jon smiled, small and shy.

“Yes, next time.” Jon said, wistful and full of hope.

“Next time for sure!” Tim chimed in and Jon looked relieved.

“Want some tea?” Martin asked and Jon nodded before coughing again.

“Tea would be nice.” He agreed and Martin went about making him a cup.

What a good day indeed.
