Work Text:
There wasn't much for the spirit to do while Gregory worked on the animatronic bear. This new machine that fixed animatronics and installed parts onto and into them wasn't enough to cure his boredom or force him to ignore his anxieties about this whole situation. The new machine was intriguing, yes, but it also gave him some things to think about. The animatronic inside of the protective cylinder gave him plenty to think about. Thinking was the only thing Henry could do other than watch, so why not do it?
Henry stared at the animatronic, his black eyes boring into it. He had been possessing this animatronic for a while now. Only leaving when it was safe to do so, Glamrock Freddy was being questioned by security guards or he wanted to check out some machinery without alerting everything in a ten-mile radius of his presence. Being a spirit had the one perk of being dead silent when you wished to be. Not even his breathing could be heard when roaming as only his spirit.
During his time as Glamrock Freddy, he had been getting more and more uncomfortable with the idea of possessing the animatronic, meaning it was getting more and more important that he spend time outside of the robot. William and Jen would tell him he was being ridiculous for caring about the animatronics feelings. It seemed so lifelike though, it felt wrong to continuously control it. Forcing it to do whatever. Fredbear never had a real personality. It didn't have any real friends, no matter what the cartoons said. It was just an animatronic. A character for Henry to play. That changed after Evan and Cassidy’s deaths, but still.
Glamrock Freddy was...different. All of the animatronics here were.
After every show or party, another animatronic would come to check on him. No, Glamrock Freddy. They would come to check on Glamrock Freddy. Most of them would hang out with him too, once the pizzeria closed for the day. Glamrock Chica would visit Glamrock Freddy in his green room, babbling on about whatever had happened that day. Finding some Monty Mix in the garbage, some kids getting pizza sauce all over her brand new paint, a little girl named Alice drawing a picture of Glamrock Chica and saying Glamrock Chica was her favourite animatronic ever. Without fail, the chicken animatronic would show up after the place closed and excitedly talk about whatever had happened over pizza and FizzyFaz (he hated that drink). She never showed at the same time, but she always did show up.
Glamrock Chica was his favourite of the bunch. So excitable, disorganized and friendly. She could never stay on topic for long. She reminded him of someone.
Roxanne Wolf was next. Unlike Chica, who would knock on his green room doors and wait ten seconds for him to answer, Roxanne would bust open the door if he didn't respond within five. Demanding he play a round of Fazerblast or Montygolf. Or, on the occasions where he destroyed her at golf, she'd drag him to Roxy Raceway and demand they do a race around the track to see who would reach the finish first. They'd then go play some arcade games since Glamrock Freddy couldn't fit comfortably inside of the gocarts. Roxanne made every game a challenge. It was fun until she threatened to beat him over the head with her instrument over him beating her in one of those arcade games for the hundredth time. She ended up chasing him around the place for supposedly cheating.
It's not his fault he played a bunch of arcade games when he was younger. He didn't know what else to do on weekends, or, when he was older, during lunch breaks. It was fun kicking William's ass in them, too.
Montgomery Gator did not hang out with him. Not of its own volition at first. Henry was fine with it. It made the animatronic more human. That all changed at one point. Henry, as Glamrock Freddy, walked into Montgomery Gator's green room to see what all that banging was about. Montgomery had been destroying things. Every single piece of furniture in there was destroyed. It was when he first figured out these animatronics could simulate crying and do when stressed or upset. The animatronic kept being blamed for an animatronic, Glamrock Bonnie's, disappearance. It finally lost it constantly being considered its replacement by older fans for months. It couldn't hurt those people, so it destroyed its green room.
Glamrock Freddy nearly shut down at the mention of Glamrock Bonnie's name. Henry pushed through to help the animatronic, though. Montgomery came to Glamrock Freddy's greenroom more often after that.
After Montgomery Gator came the Daycare Attendant, or, attendants. He wasn't sure if they counted as one or two people. Either way, Moondrop came to Glamrock Freddy's green room and stressed over how messy he was (no matter how much Henry forced himself to act like Glamrock Freddy, he would never get the cleanliness down) while he would go to the daycare to help Sunrise clean up and occasionally encourage it not to eat glitter glue when it had the idea. When the two argued over control, Henry would help them figure it out. He was the one who had the idea of a schedule on who controls at which hour.
The schedule changed when William and Vanny hacked Moondrop. Moondrop was his second favourite animatronic and the one he was the closest with until that happened. They knew.
Lastly, there was DJ Music Man and the Lil' Music Men. Specifically, one of them he nicknamed Lil DJ. He had only met DJ Music Man twice. He was wandering around the Pizzaplex when he made it to the arcade. He had managed to get lost. DJ Music Man helped him find a map and get back to Glamrock Freddy's green room. The second time they met was when Henry wanted to thank it. He had met Lil DJ and the others way more than DJ Music Man. Lil DJ would show up from the vents in the room behind Glamrock Freddy's green room and would sit in Glamrock Freddy’s green room until the place opened, banging its symbols whenever it saw something interesting out the window. He first met Lil DJ when one of its legs had been ripped off and it fell out of the vents. He managed to reattach Lil DJ's leg. Now, whenever a Lil’ Music Man needs fixing, they'd pop into Glamrock Freddy's green room.
He was glad that at least a few Lil' Music Man weren't affected hacked. He needed at least a few animatronics to remain friendly if he was going to remain sane here.
All of that to say, his encounters with the animatronics put him off when it came to possessing Glamrock Freddy. All of the animatronics had varying personalities and had issues. Glamrock Chica was excitable, friendly and had a bit of an addiction to Monty Mix. Roxanne Wolf was competitive and bossy but also had self-esteem issues. Possibly an inferiority or superiority complex. Montgomery Gator was loud and strong, both physically and emotionally, but he is destructive. Sunrise was energetic and childish, while Moondrop was more mellow and mature, but the two were both neat freaks. DJ Music Man and the Lil' Music Men were helpful yet extremely noisy.
All of the animatronics were too...alive. They all had issues and personalities, even after shows. They had hobbies. Some disliked another, some hated another. They had opinions on which type of pizza was the best (it was decided it was Pepperoni) and on which instrument was the coolest. They argued about things, like whether or not Monty Mix is as good as Glamrock Chica says or if Moondrop is as creepy as some of the children and mechanics say.
All of this combined made him wonder. Was it right to possess Glamrock Freddy to get rid of William, and potentially Vanny? It was a robot, but if the others were any indication, it did things after shows before Henry possessed it. It had a personality on and off stage. It had hobbies, it fought with the others. If nearly shutting down when Glamrock Bonnie was mentioned was any indication, it mourned or hated another animatronic. He'd have to guess mourned.
If someone or something had a life before you possessed it, but doesn't exactly count as a person or animal, is it ethical to possess it? If it was made for entertainment and likely wasn't meant to have a life in the first place? Is it ethical if he is doing it to get rid of a killer?
Henry was snapped out of his thoughts when the protective cylinder opened up and Gregory walked out and over to the computer. Gregory cheered for a split second when he pressed what Henry assumed was the finish upgrade button. He got up from his spot, thankful that even though he was distracted, he didn't go back to his natural vaguely see-through state and kept being invisible. He got up from his spot and floated over to the Glamrock animatronic, going inside of it. Possessing it once more.
He could ponder the ethics of possession later. Right now, he and Gregory had things to do.
