The Beginning

Summary:

"This world is tainted. Filled with imperfections and disgustingly selfish creatures. It's time for a change, it's time to reset. Start from scratch where only the strong and the perfect remain. It's time for a New Beginning."

"Are you drunk?"

"No."

"Are you sleep deprived?"

"Not this time."

"Have you hit your head?"

"No, Peter."

"Did Rogers mess up your brain during Siberia? Was it the cold? Was it both?"

"No and both you and Pepper checked and both you and Rhodey doubled checked. Peter-"

"Then why are you letting Rogers and crew back here...the last place on Earth on where they should be?"

Threat arises and the Rogues are back. How will the New Avengers deal with these two headaches?

Chapter Text

Peter and Harley stood on the landing pad of Stark Tower. The two after some convincing and pleading had been chosen to welcome back the newly pardon members of Team Cap. Of course, the two and many others had voiced their disapproval but couldn't change it. So instead they decided to collectively keep Tony away from Steve.

"You think they'll cause trouble on the first day?" Harley asked as laid his head on Peter's shoulders.

"I think they might but I think it'll be more verbal trouble than anything but Rogers and Maximoff are wild cards so who can tell," Peter said with a hum. He gently laid his head against Harley's as they waited. The two didn't want anyone to be in this situation but what could two teenagers do against the United Nations or the US Government.

"You want to place your bets on how long it takes Rogers to complain about Barnes staying behind? I'd say five minutes," Harley smirked upon seeing the jet arrive. He removed his head from Peter's shoulders and stood up straight.

"I'd say as soon as we'd go to explain the situation and then brought up again at the meeting, how about we bet when Rogers asks where Dad is?" Peter replied with a sly smile.

"That is not a bet that's as soon as he leaves the jet," Harley rolled his eyes causing Peter to laugh.

The jet landed and the couple watched as Team Cap piled out, only Scott looking nervous, the others looking either stoic or bored. Steve looked around and frowned, "Where's Tony?" He asked. Peter and Harley bit back a laugh.

"Too good for us?" Clint snarked.

"You'll be seeing Mr. Stark soon enough, for now we have been chosen to welcome you back and tell you a bit of changes and lead you to your meeting," Peter answered. His voice strict and professional.

"Well where's our welcome?" Clint crossed his arms looking amused.

"That was your welcome," Harley snorted. He couldn't believe they thought that they'd be welcome in with open arms. After everything that they've done to Tony? They'd lucky that Carol had ordered them to try to keep it as professional as they could.

"Who are you anyways?" Natasha asked before Clint could respond. "You weren't around last we were here."

Her voice sweet and calm, most likely to get the two to lower their guards. "We're Mr. Stark personal interns, it will be discussed more at the meeting. Now, if that is all I'll give you some quick updates of where you'll be staying if you following us," Peter answered.

"What about Bucky?" Steve asked suddenly, as when they were told about their pardons he didn't hear anything about what would happen to Bucky. Harley frowned and checked the time. He sighed and once he had his wallet out handed Peter 20 bucks.

"I'll expect the other 20 after the meeting," Peter whispered to Harley. Harley grumbled as Peter turned his attention back to the group, who was confused by the interaction.

"Mr. Barnes has yet to be cleared by Wakanda once he is then can he be cleared by the U.N," Harley answered.

"Any more questions?" Peter questioned before Steve could complain or make some other comment.

Scott looked like he had a question but shook his head alongside the others. Once that was clear, Peter and Harley led the group inside and to the elevator. "You'll be staying on floor 80. You're not allowed on floor 84-90. Everywhere else is open to you with the exception of personal labs," Peter said as Harley pressed on floor 80. "Those floors are for New Avengers only."

The elevator opened and they piled off to a kitchen. "You have five minutes to put whatever you brought with you down and come back. Those who are not here gets left behind. It is nothing personal, we just have a schedule to maintain," Peter said. Team Cap left leaving Harley and Peter behind.

"How are you feelin' love?" Peter asked Harley, as he wrapped an arm around him.

"I'm alright, I expected them to cause trouble," Harley sighed. "Now, it's just boring." Harley would pout before asking Peter, "How are you feeling?"

"I'd rather be down in the lab," Peter shrugged. "I expected verbal trouble but I guess even they know not to push their luck not even on their first day back." Peter let go. He straightened up when his spider sense alert him of danger. He looked at his watch that Tony had given to him, they had two minutes left.

"Now, that you're all here, we'll escort you to the meeting room where you'll discuss living, accords and more," Peter said. Getting no response back, the two led the group back to the elevator. Harley pressed floor number 78.

Peter and Harley led the group once the elevator arrived on the floor to the meeting room where they knew Carol and the others would be. Harley opened the door as Peter stood next to him and motioned for them to walk in. Scott mumbled a thanks as the group walked in. Harley closed the door and turned to Peter.

"Go change, darlin," Harley said. "Spidey's gotta attend."  Peter let out a groan as he quickly ran off to go change so that he could go attend the meeting.

Rhodey tensed upon seeing Team Cap enter the room. Admittedly he still held anger towards the group well really only Steve. Carol had told him to be on his best behavior as he was the most likely to make comments. His eyes locked with Sam's who looked guilty. Rhodey knew that Sam had and still does blame himself for what had happened at the airport so Rhodey sent a quick small smile hoping Sam got the message that Rhodey didn't blame him at all.

The group awkwardly sat down in silence. Carol was about to speak up most likely to inform that we was waiting for one other person to arrive, that being Peter or in this case Spider-Man but a thunk was heard at the window interrupting her before anything could get out. They turned their attention to the window to Spider-Man was clinging onto it giving a small wave. Quill, who he and the guardians had been visiting Earth, opened the window for him.

"Hi! Sorry I'm late, there was crazy air traffic!" Peter quipped as he sat down.

"You're just in time," Carol reassured. "Seeing as there are tons of new faces for our new addition we should introduce ourselves." Carol continued on, "I'm Carol Danverse or Captain Marvel, I'm the leader of the New Avengers and Team Alpha."

"Dr. Strange, Sorcerer Supreme and leader of Team Magic," Stephen introduced himself, tone of his voice dry.

"Hope Van Dyne or Wasp,, I'm leader of Team Flare," Hope introduced ignoring that Scott was looking at her.

"James Rhodes or War Machine but you already know that," Rhodey said lips pressed into a thin line. "I'm the leader of Team Beta."

"Peter Quill better known as the legendary thief, Star Lord in charge of a team of assholes known as the Guardians of the Galaxy," Quill said with a smirk as he crossed his arms, leaning back a bit in his chair.

"Thief?" Steve questioned. Rhodey had wondered when one of them was going to cut in considering that they had been saying some new things like the teams and of course the whole Sorcerer Supreme thing is confusing upon hearing the title and even more confusing when you get the explanation.

"Didn't know we're taking in criminals now," Barton snorted.

"I mean we're taking you in," Peter and Rhodey retorted at the same time. Carol shot the three of them a warning look shutting down any further arguments. That didn't stop Rhodey and Peter from high fiving underneath the table.

"You're friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, leader of Team Gen," Peter said with a mock salute continuing on.

Carol continued on before any of Team Cap could ask any questions, "We'll explain the teams after we discuss the living arrangements we have set up. As said, please save all questions until the end." The group nodded.

"First as Mr. Parker, Tony's intern, said you're not allowed on floor 84 to 90 and personal labs. That also includes personal training rooms, you won't be allowed to enter ours as we will not be able to enter yours without explicit permission," Carol said.

"He also said that Bucky needs to be cleared by Wakanda and then by the UN, why is that, I thought the pardons would also extend to him as well?" Rogers asked interrupting.

Peter smirked underneath the mask as Carol sighed, "Because unlike the rest of you, he's got trigger words that can turn him into a killing machine and we want to make sure they're fully gone and he's completely okay to return. Now, as said, questions at the end."

"To stay here, you'll have to pay rent. The first six months of your stay here are paid for after that you'll be charged with $1,780 per month. During these six months you will be expected to to find a job to pay rent or find a new place. You are also expected to buy your own groceries, but as of the first couple weeks, that will be sorted out for you already. The final thing is our warning system it is similar to baseball, three strikes and you're out. You get warned once, nothing really happens but a stern talking to, twice there will be some kind of punishment depending whether you are on the team or not, which will get into more detail later, and three times in short we'll be arresting you," Carol finished. "Questions about the living situation?" She asked.

"Why do we exactly need to pay rent? Isn't Tony rich, why does he need more money?" Barton questioned with a roll of his eyes.

"The money goes to fixing and building equipment, training equipment, etc. Things like that cost a lot of money and we live in a world where nothing is free," Carol answered.

"You make it sound like Tony is not supplying or fixing our equipment?" Romanoff asked.

"Because he chose not to. Tony is a busy man between his company's projects and his own personal ones. If you want him to fix or make something then you pay for it and it'll get done when it gets done. For who exactly who will be supplying and fixing your equipment is the job of a newly built and repurposed S.H.I.E.L.D," Rhodey snapped. He wasn't going to allow Tony to be their doormat anymore.

Carol shot Rhodey an exasperated look before continuing with a sigh, "Any more questions?" Carol received no responses so she moved on. "Now onto the accords, that is pretty simple. T join the team you have to sign the accords and pass that of an entrance exam. The exam is overviewed by someone who has little to no connection to you. Any questions on this?"

Once again met with silence. "Moving onto teams," Carol moved on. "As said before I'm the leader of the New Avengers and Team Alpha. Team Alpha is one of six teams we have in the New Avengers. This team consists of Iron Man, Deadpool, Daredevil, and if you, Rogers and Lang, sign the accords and pass the entrance exams then you'll be on my team."

"Team Flare is led by me," Hope said. "It consists of Katy Chen, Valkyrie, Vision, Rescue, Hulk and if you, Romanoff, sign the accords then you'll be on my team and if Barnes is approved by the Wakanda and the U.N, sign the accords then he'll be on my team."

"On Team Beta, we have Venom, Black Panther, Okaye, Kate Bishop, Thor, and Wilson and Barton if you two sign the accords," Rhodey spoke up next with a shrug.

"The Guardians of the Galaxy, doesn't include any of you even if you sign the accords but it consists of Rocket, Groot, Drax, Gamora, Kraglin, Mantis, and Nebula," Quill said leaning back in his chair.

"On Team Magic, we have Slyvie, Wong, Shang-Chi, Loki and if Maximoff signs the accords and passes the exam then she'll be apart of my team," Stephen said.

"Loki! Why is Loki here! He attacked New York and mind controlled me!" Barton yelled. The others let out mummers of agreement.

"Loki has proved that he was mind controlled as well with Thor, Valkyrie, and Bruce vouching for him. Plus, he is going through the same process as you and in fact has 3 months and as of right now emergency member as you will be even if you sign the accords and pass the entrance exams during the six months," Stephen sighed.

Barton let out some complaints but didn't say anything else that warranted any more explanations. Carol gestured for Peter to finish the team introduction so she can move on and finish this meeting quickly.

"Team Gen has two subgroups which is funny having a subgroup within a subgroup," Peter joked quieting upon seeing Carol's unimpressed stare. "Anyways, our first subgroup, that has no name as of right now, consists of Nova, White Tiger, Power Man, Hobgoblin, Iron Lad, and Shuri. The second subgroup is called the Web Warriors which consists of Iron Spider, Scarlet Spider, Ghost Spider, Kid Arachnid,  and Queen Carnage. We also have a close friend of mine we call 'The Guy in the Chair' or just Guy. He doesn't go out in the field though."

"We do warn that you avoid these two members for the time being as they can be...eccentric," Carol said. Peter and Rhodey let out a snort, eccentric was really putting it lightly. "Those members being Deadpool, he won't try to provoke a fight or anything, he's just...unpredictable." Carol ignored us, continuing on as she showed a picture of Deadpool. "He's very unique per say."

"The other being Venom or Eddie. Before you ask, Venom is an alien symbiote that feeds of human brains or chocolate. While Eddie has Venom under control, Venom is known for having a short temper and can take over even against the wishes of Eddie and Venom doesn't share the same views of not eating people like everyone here does. This goes without saying, he is staying under the condition that he doesn't eat anybody. Spider-Man had vouched for the two of them and they like him enough to listen to him and accept the conditions and I overviewed their test and I deemed them Avenger worthy," Carol continued.

"Spider-Man here, will then explain what exactly happened to S.H.I.E.L.D," Carol nodded to Peter after getting no comments or questions on Venom or Deadpool.

"My team is made of members on the younger side. Kid Arachnid and Iron Spider being emergency members or having what basically is a babysitter with them out on patrol. Every member of Team Gen is apart of S.H.I.E.L.D, which has been rebuilt to train young vigilantes into future members of this team," Peter explained. "While, we are Avengers we are more so called for lesser threats and have a bit more free will of going out and stopping petty crime or fighting villains that are more than the police can handle but aren't Avenger threat level. I think that's all I have," Peter shrugged.

"And Fury went along with teaching amateurs?" Barton scoffed.

"Well, considering it was his idea in the first place, I'd sure hope he went along with it. Be weird to propose the idea and then not go along with it," Peter raised his hands in mock surrender. "But I d see your point, he isn't really the type of guy you'd suspect to work with kids."

"Another thing to point out is that we do have mandatory training. Two times each month. One at the beginning and one at the end. Skipping these during your six months will count as a strike alongside extra mandatory training to make up for the one you missed," Carol said.

"Now, I'm sure you've noticed some additions to the Tower and that being the interns Peter Parker and Harley Keener, those two along with Amadeus Cho and Miles Morales are Tony's personal interns while you'll see Michelle Jones, Ava Ayala and Gwen Stacy are Pepper's personal interns. You'll also see their friends Harry Osborn, Ned Leeds, Sam Alexander, Luke Cage, Dann Rand and Ben Riley around so don't be intimidated if you see teenagers walking around," Carol said.

"Yeah, they smell fear," Peter agreed with a snort. "And they pray on weakness. One moment is all they need to make fun of you for life."

"Well, any questions about all of this?" Carol continued, smirking a bit at Peter's comment.

"Why do we have to go through all of this? We've been pardon haven't we?" Rogers asked.

"Because you broke the law, multiple laws in fact, in multiple countries so the people that you're supposed to protect doesn't trust you so they don't like the fact that you're back and have the chance to be well an Avenger. This way, you have a chance to gain back that trust and give time for the public to cool down and a reason to believe that you won't fuck off and break even more laws in more countries," Rhodey rolled his eyes.

"While I would've worded it differently, it is exactly that," Carol said, giving Rhodey a look that meant that they would be talking later. Rhodey ignored it in favor of looking at the weather outside the window. Wow he can really see the air traffic Peter was talking about. "That is all that we wanted to talk about, this meeting is dismissed."

Steve and the group watched as the group stood and left. Spider-Man was talking to Dr. Strange something about learning magic and by the look of Strange's face it wasn't the first time that Spider-Man had asked. Those two were the last to leave leaving Team Cap alone.

"This is stupid, we save the world twice and it goes down the drain all cause we say no to something we don't like!" Clint groaned as he placed his head down on the table.

"What we need to do is lay low, play along and follow the rules and conditions they gave us so we don't look suspicious so we can plan how to turn things back to normal. Wait out the six months so we don't have to worry about the three strike system when we put those plans into action," Natasha said.

"I agree, Tony is just hurt but he'll get over it, once he does he'll come back to us," Steve nodded in agreement.

"I don't agree."

The group turned to the person that the voice belonged to and Scott stood up, he looked at the group like they just told him that pigs were gods and Thor and Loki were pigs. "We fucked up, we against the law, multiple ones and hurt people, fuck it we've killed people! Well, you guys have, I wasn't there for that." Scott coughed, he'll take accountability for the things he did do but he will not take the blame for things he didn't. "Point is that's not what heroes do, that's the opposite of what heroes do. I get you didn't like the Accords but there were better ways to go about it than what we did. The public doesn't trust us and rightfully so instead of blaming others and trying to sabotage something that is clearly working because of your own fuck ups maybe we should work on gaining back that trust and give the public a reason that we won't fuck off and break even more laws in more countries," Scott said. He sighed as he finished, "Now, I'm going to study the accords and figure out how I'm going to apologize to those who I need to apologize to, and look for a job."

Scott stormed off, Wanda scoffed while Natasha mumbled something in Russia. "What's his problem?" Clint huffed.

"I mean Scott has a point but if you think this a good idea, I'm with you," Sam said, he looked very conflicted about the entire thing.

"Nothing can g wrong, trust me Sam," Steve said, placing a hand on Sam's shoulder. Sam smiled looking more relaxed. Right this was Steve he had a plan.

Tony decided to hunt down Peter when the meeting was over just to one, check in, two see how he feels about this (though when he told Peter about Team Cap returning he made his feelings blatantly clear from the beginning something about being a dumbass and a lot more insults and cursing. Tony didn't even know Peter could even be that vulgar), and three because he can and Peter is his son. Finding him wasn't that hard, he had gone down in his personal lab still in his Spider-Man suit without the mask.

Tony sat down on the bench next to Peter, who hummed giving that he knew Tony was next to him. "How did the meeting go?" Tony asked, looking to see what Peter was making which seemed to be his web shooters or maybe the other Spider-Peoples.

Peter groaned, "It was tame, they only really voiced complaints about you not being their weapon manufacturer and Loki. They were well behaved other than that but to be expected. They don't want to get in trouble not even on their first day back. Though they still believe that they were right but I have high hopes for Lang, he seems to be the most reasonable of the group."

Tony hummed, "How do you feel about Team Cap returning?" He had asked that question before and well he already explained what happened but maybe Peter had calmed down since then and won't give Tony an aneurism.

"I don't really care," Peter shrugged. "As long they don't hurt you and stay out of my and my team's way then they can do whatever they want. Though I bet they'll only last 5 months." Peter grinned.

"Bet?" Tony questioned with a raised eyebrow.

"Yeah, there's a bet going on, on how long Team Cap lasts, lowest is a month highest five months. I'd think Rogers or Romanoff will last the longest," Peter explained. "And before you go snitching to Carol, she started the bet." Peter glared at Tony.

"Alright..." Tony raised his hands in surrender. He switched the conversation topic and asked, "How's May? Aunt Hottie still in Brazil?"

"It's still weird that you call her that, before you guys started co-parenting even more so after. I'd appreciate it if you didn't call her that. But Aunt May is coming back today, actually I think she's on the plane here already," Peter said.

"Wish I could tale you for longer so that she could explore the world more often or doesn't have to worry when staying late for work and I get more quality time with my Spider-Baby," Tony gave a quick pout before it turned into a smirk.

"Not a Spider-Baby," Peter mumbled giving Tony a light playful shove.

"So, you ready to go back to school tomorrow?"

"Don't remind me!" Peter groaned. "I wish Spring Break was longer but I'm glad to be back with Aunt May, you were getting a bit annoying," Peter joked. Tony gave an offended gasp and lightly hit on his shoulder. "I do have Wade and Matt watching you in case Team Cap tries anything and to stop you from being a dumbass." Peter informed.

"Excuse me, there will be no stopping me as I am not a dumbass, I can't believe it. Slander by my own son," Tony dramatically grabbed his chest. "I might as well just perish right now!"

"A dramatic dumbass in fact," Peter rolled his eyes with a smile. The two of them laughed as Tony started to help Peter with his web shooters.

"So, are you thinking of telling Team Cap you're Spider-Man. I'm not opposed to it if you do," Tony questioned once they've calmed down.

Peter shrugged, "Not really, I don't trust them with it, it's too high up in the air that they won't use it against you. Same with telling them about our relation to each other."

"If you say so, Intern," Tony nodded.

The town of them started to get focused on their work talking and laughing with each other. Time lost as they enjoyed the company of the other.

Steve and the other headed towards the training rooms along the way there they had run into Quill and some other aliens? people? Was that a raccoon and a tree? Quill saw the group and waved. "Hey! This is my team, Drax, Mantis, Kraglin, Nebula, Gamora, Groot and Rocket," Quill pointed to each member of the team as he said their name.

"So these are the fuckers, what a pathetic lot," Rocket spat staring unimpressed. Steve was still confused that was a talking raccoon, standing upright. Was he from Earth? Or some kind of alien planet?

"Is that a raccoon? That can talk?" Sam asked apparently just as confused as Steve just more braver to ask out loud. Rocket growled and shouted, "Who are you calling a raccoon! I oughta-"

"Chill out Rocket! We promised Carol, we'd play nice remember!" Quill interrupted standing in front of Rocket.

"Rocket is correct. This group is pathetic," Drax agreed. "These are the ones that hurt Tony, we should make them hurt too," Nebula nodded in agreement.

"No one is hurting anyone, what is wrong with you all. Does nobody remember that we promised to play nice? This is not nice!" Quill complained. He turned to face Team Cap, "I'm so sorry about them, I swear they're nicer...no this is them being nice but I'll make sure to talk to them about their behavior and what playing nice means." Quill emphasized the nice part as he glared at his team.

"I recall you have somewhere to be Guardians," A voice said, it was loud and clear and both groups turned to see Carol.

"Yeah we do, sorry C," Quill apologized as he turned to the Guardians, "Let's roll out, Guardians! We'll be back Carol!" Quill waved bye as the group left.

Carol sighed, "Maybe we should've warned you about the Guardians as well. Sorry about that, they're good people they just have a personality. One we all love but it takes a while to warm up to especially when it lands us and them in a lot of trouble."

Carol left after that and Barton groaned, "I can't wait to get things back to normal. I can't deal with this shit for six months."

Chapter 2: Im still alive

Summary:

Hi guysss...I'm still alive I promise, just been unmotivated due to college and life but I'm back here to get you guys another chapter...

Anyways, Scott and Tony talk and Peter and the gang is back in high school, just the start of some filler and leading up to our first issue

Chapter Text

Peter was not having a good day, for starters Team Cap being pardoned and back in the Tower didn’t turn out to be some kind of twisted nightmare, two schools started back again. Which is where Peter is now.

He slammed his locker shut, ignoring the jumps from the other students in favor of looking at his friend tiredly. “I actually hoped that this was all some kind of nightmare, like I had gotten into this coma and dreamed Team Cap was back and that I would go to bed and wake up in the hospital,” Peter groaned.

“It might not be that bad,” Ned said sympathetically as he placed a hand on his best friend’s back. “Who knows, maybe they’ll decide to change.” Ned shrugged only to get unimpressed stares by his friends and he raised his hands in surrender. “Hey, let a man dream! You know I used to be a Captain America fanboy, let me hope I can go back to those times!”

Peter huffed, smiling a bit at what Ned said. He was going to reply back when an all too familiar voice cut through the crowd of students and Peter couldn’t help but roll his eyes. “What’s up Penis Parker! Back from your quote unquote internship with Tony Stark? Cause I enjoyed my time with none other than Pepper Potts!” Flash smirked as he walked up to Peter and leaned against the locker next to Peter’s.

“Leave him alone Eugene,” Sam rolled his eyes as he grabbed Peter’s arm and lightly pulled him closer to them.

“Don’t call me that, you freak,” Flash glared at Sam. “My name is Flash and don’t forget it.”

“Oh, please, calling you Eugene or Flash is a lose lose. People might as well just call you by your given name because of all the actual cool names you could’ve named yourself, you chose Flash of all things and that’s what truly pathetic about you, not your personality, or your life but the fact that you had the choice and you chose Flash,” Harley snickered, causing Sam, Luke, and Ned to laugh.

“Shut up, Potato boy!” Flash seethed. He turned to Peter and smirked, “You really need your friends to defend you, Parker? What a wuss, can’t even fight your own battles. No wond-”

Flash was interrupted by Luke slamming his fist against the locker, causing the locker to dent and silence the entire hall. Luke leaned down to get into Flash’s face and whispered, “I think it’s time for you to leave, Eugene."

Flash gulped and nodded wordlessly, as he scrambled off. Luke and the others turned to face me. “You didn’t need to do that, truly,” Peter said, unimpressed.

“Well, it’s not like you were going to do anything about it,” Sam scoffed. Harley placed an arm around Peter’s shoulder pulling him into a side hug.

“So, since you’re not, we are,” Harley smiled as he pressed a kiss against Peter’s head before pulling his arm away and ruffling his hair.

“You guys, okay?” Another voice asked. They turned to see, Harry walking up to them looking worried. Harry Osborn was Norman Osborn’s son; he and Peter had met one afternoon after school. It was raining and Happy was too busy to pick him up so he said that he would bike home and his Parker luck struck again and his bike broke down and luckily Harry and his father were kind enough to pull aside and drive him home. They’ve been friends ever since.

Another thing about Harry was that he was somehow friends with Eugene “Flash” Thompson. He wouldn’t say why, said it wasn’t his place to tell but it was always a weird friendship. Not to say that if Harry was around when Flash was bullying Peter again he wouldn’t speak up against it. In fact, Harry would be one of the first to speak up against Peter so none of them minded too much about his friendship with Flash even if it seemed weird.

“I still don’t see how you’re friends with Eugene,” Ned said, scrunching his nose. Harry looked back seeing Flash walking away before turning his attention to his other friends.

“It’s complicated and not really my place to say why,” Harry sighed. Everybody couldn’t help but roll their eyes having heard that a bunch of times.

“Yeah, we know, now let's go before we’re late to class. Last thing we need is to go see Principal Coulson,” Sam said, shuddering a bit still remembering how awkward it was to sit across from Coulson in his civilian form.

“Calling him Principal Coulson still doesn’t feel right,” Luke shuddered.

“You think sitting across from him in his civilian form is bad? Try doing that after seeing him in his tighty whities, the awkward air still has not cleared,” Peter shook his head at the memory forever burned in his mind of seeing Coulson hung upside down over a container of acid in nothing but his underwear.

Peter grinned sheepishly at the disgusted faces he received. Sam shook his head groaning a bit, “I did not need to know that.”

Scott was planning. He spent all night reading the accords, studying it and rereading it making sure he understood it all. It was the first step to getting into not just Hope’s good graces but Maggie’s and Cassie’s. The next step was finding a job which admittedly was hard especially when you’re an ex convict who went and committed more crimes. Scott even doubted Baskin Robbins would hire him.

Scott sighed, he stood in the elevator for a long time. He didn’t know what to do. He wasn’t going to give up but he refuse to apologize and grovel without anything to back him up to prove he’s trying to do better.

“Mr. Lang, I do not know where you wish to go but I can maybe take you to someone who may be of help?”

Scott jumped still not used to the A.I despite having talked to her all night asking her questions about the Accords. “I uh that’d be appreciated, thank you.” Scott nodded, a bit nervous to who she’d take him too. Hopefully not Stark, Scott didn’t think he was ready to face the man yet.

The elevator moved down and it came to a stop, the doors opened and Scott was in an unfamiliar place. Scott left the elevator; there was just a small dead end hallway that had one door at the end of the hall on the right. Scott walked up to the door and nervously raised his hand bit before he could knock the door open and on the other hand was…

“Mr. Stark!” Scott exclaimed, of course it’d be the one person Scott didn’t want to see. “Oh, I’m not supposed to be here, oh no no no. I’m so sorry! FRIDAY said she’d take me to someone and I thought it’d be on a floor I’m allowed on and if I had known it wasn’t then I wouldn’t have agreed to come here, please don’t give me a strike. I’m trying to do better! I really am and I’m so sorry about everything that happened in Germany it was stupid and I shouldn’t have gotten involved and I’m not saying this to avoid a strike I mean if you did give me it I understand but it’d be appreciated if you didn’t not like I’m saying I deserve to be forgiven or I’m telling you shouldn’t give me a strike and I’m rambling now aren’t I? I’m sorry it’s probably getting on your nerves since I’m sure I’m wasting your time and you probably have way more important things to do again I’m so so-”

“-Breathe!” Mr. Stark interrupted looking amused. Scott took a deep breath looking sheepish as he mumbled yet another apology. “You’re not in trouble, I asked FRIDAY to bring you here.”

“Oh, okay, that’s cool. That’s cool,” Scott nodded along, finding himself relaxing and relieved that he wasn’t getting a strike. Tony moved to the side and gestured to Scott to come in and Scott walked in and the two sat. “FRIDAY said you could help me? Not entirely sure how because I’m not really sure how you can help me get someone who is willing to hire me,” Scott continued trying his best to make sure he doesn’t go on another ramble.

“I’m willing,” Mr. Stark said with a shrug. He saw Scott’s bewildered face and elaborated further. “I’m willing to hire you. You’re a brilliant engineer, Mr. Lang. I’d like you to work with me on Stark Industries and Avengers stuff. You’d get your own personal lab, access to equipment, material, and tools to make your own stuff, health insurance, early access to things, and all that good stuff. You don’t have to answer now, should think about it you know. If you don’t want to work for me, I’m willing to help you find a job.”

Scott couldn’t help but stare at the billionaire like he was crazy. He wanted Scott to work for him? Scott Lang working for Tony Stark? Scott almost wanted to pinch himself and if Tony Stark wasn’t sitting in front of him, he probably would’ve. “I mean of course I’ll take the job. I think I’d be an idiot not to but why? I mean why do you want to hire me? I  figured that you didn’t want anything to do with us? That being well you know.”

“I don’t have a problem or issue with you or Wilson, not like the rest of your group. Plus, you’re trying to change and do better, right?” Scott nodded. “Then, of course I’m going to give you a chance.” Mr. Stark then stuck his hand out and said, “Welcome to the team, Mr. Lang.”

Scott grinned and shook his hand rapidly. “Thank you, Mr. Stark! I don’t know how I’d ever repay you and call me Scott, please!”

Mr. Stark nodded, “You don’t owe me anything as long as you continue to make an effort to change.” There was an awkward moment of silence before Mr. Stark continued on to say, “You can stop shaking my hand now, Scott.”

“R-r-right! Sorry!” Scott fumbled letting go of his hand, embarrassed that this had happened again. He should honestly just stop shaking the hands of his idols because two times is just too many.

Scott stood and made his way to the exit. He thanked Mr. Stark again and left. Things were looking up! The next step was to sign the accords and try to get into the New Avengers. He didn’t know if he would make it in but the point was to at least try. He’s sure that Hope, Maggie and Cassie would appreciate the effort.

Chapter Text

A week had passed and nothing was getting better, in fact everything seemed to be getting worse. Three days into living in the tower, Laura came to visit which at Clint at first to have seen his wife until he heard what she had to say.

Clint was in the room with his makeshift darts, his room had been basically bare when he got here. There was a bed with a nightstand on the left of it, a wooden desk with a chair, a small laptop on it, next to it was an Iphone.

He didn’t like those interns, they had no idea of what truly happened and what this was all truly about. He didn’t like any of this situation, why are they getting punished for doing what is right? It was all Stark’s fault and his pettiness.

There was a knock on his door and Clint turned around and he saw Laura, his beautiful wife. God it was so good to see a friendly face with all this going on. He had hoped she brought the kids with her and they were just outside waiting for her signal. He really needed to see his family.

“Laura,” Clint smiled only to frown seeing how unhappy she looked. “What’s wrong? Is it the kids? Where are the kids?”

“The kids are fine, they’re with Sam, Luke and Danny right now,” Laura huffed with crossed arms.

“Sam? Luke? Danny? Who are those people?” Clint asked, the names were familiar but he couldn’t remember from-oh wait they were friends with those interns, Parker and Keener. “You left our kids with strangers?”

“They aren’t strangers, Clint. I know who they are and the kids like them,” Lila said as she glared even harder at him. “And I trust them more than I trust you.”

“More than me? Come on Laura, you’re being ridiculous!” Clint threw his hands in the air before throwing his arm at the door. “Can you at least come in, so no one else can overhear us.”

Laura was silent for a minute, stepped more inside and shut the door. She then took a deep breath and said, “You want to know what’s ridiculous? This entire situation!”

“I know, Laura!” Clint agreed. “But, give it time for Stark to get his head out of his ass and things will get back to normal and I can fix things.”

Laura stared and broke into laughter but there was no humor behind it. “For Stark to get his head out of his ass? Fix things? There’s no fixing things, Clint. Why? Cause you’re the one that needs to get his head out of his ass. You said that you were going to retire, that you were done!”

So, that’s what this was about, him leaving. “I had to, Laura. You know this, Stark was holding Wanda captive-”

“-People were pissed at her, they wanted her head on a silver platter and if they saw her in public and swarmed her the second she’d unleashed her powers they would probably get what they wanted. Her visa was called into question, of course Tony would want her to keep her where she’d be safe and to keep further incidents from happening! With what happened in-”

“It wasn’t her fault!” Clint interrupted. Why couldn’t people see that? What happened there wasn’t on her!

“I don’t blame her, I blame Rogers for letting someone who clearly isn’t trained on her powers out on the field! That is ultimately on him for not doing his part as the leader. She should not have been there. In fact none of them should’ve been there. According to Maria Hill, it wasn’t even an Avengers mission, they were not authorized and in fact have been going on unauthorized missions for years,” Laura rolled her eyes. “Maximoff is not what I came here to discuss. I came here to tell you that I’m filing for a divorce AND I’m taking full custody of the kids. I will give them the choice if they want to see you or not but they are mine.” Laura continued.

Clint froze. A divorce? She was filing for a divorce. “Did Stark put you up to this? He managed to convince you that I’m the bad guy? Came in and showed you all his fancy toys and told you to leave me, didn’t he?” Clint hissed.

“Oh be for real, Clint! After what you did, I had Ross after not just me but the kids too and Tony was the one to help me. He didn’t want me and the kids involved, but we were because of you. All Tony did was give us a place to stay until it was safe and I was able to find a place to stay. He even offered me a job here which while I’m grateful for, I declined because I didn’t want to feel like I was taking advantage of his kindness since he watched over the kids while I went out for job interviews or get some time to myself to process everything and relax right alongside the ‘strangers’ I left with the kids,” Laura scoffed. “That’s all he did, he didn’t tell me anything about what was going on and when I did my research and asked him questions he barely went into it. I decided this myself. I did, not Tony and especially not his fancy toys.”

“Can we just talk this through?” Clint pleaded. “I messed up, is that what you want to hear? I messed up and I shouldn’t have left but come on Laura don’t leave me over this! I won’t leave again! During the six months I won’t sign the accords or join the New Avengers and when it’s over I’ll come back home wherever that is now and I’ll retire for good.”

Laura chuckled, her eyes teared up, “I believed you the last time you said that you would retire but I have such a hard time believing it now. I can’t believe that the next time Rogers calls, you won’t leave me and the kids again. I’m done with being left alone to deal with the fallout!” She took a deep breath calming down. “I can’t do that anymore, I’m done.”

Clint took a step forward as Laura took a step backwards. “Laura-”

“Don’t fight me on this, you can’t change my mind, I’m not happy,” Laura pleaded, her hand gripping the handle of the door.

“Okay…” Clint nodded slowly. Laura nodded and left leaving Clint alone and unhappy.

It wasn’t good at all. First, Stark is punishing us for his mess ups, now he convinced his wife, his ex-wife, to leave him. Stark ruined his life and is continuing to. This must all be a game to him, some twisted game to mess with Clint. Especially with recruiting Loki into the team, Clint didn’t care about if Thor, Bruce, or this Valkyrie chick vouched for him. It’s Loki, he was truly evil inside and out. It was only a matter of time before he stabs everyone in the back and try to take over New York again.

He needed to relieve some stress and frustration. It wasn’t going to do good if he let it build up. Steve better have a good plan on how to get things back to normal and it better be soon.

Loki was a bit nervous not like he would admit it out loud but he’s very much aware of how the people of Team Cap would be furious of his presence especially that archer guy, Barton. Loki sighed, everything would be fine if he just avoided them, not like he ever wanted to interact with a group like them, attack on New York happening or not.

“What’s got you all in a twist?” Mobius questioned, his hand on his hip as he stood in front of Loki, his figure towering over Loki who’s been sitting down and reading.

“Nothing,” Loki replied, closing his book and setting it aside on the table. Mobius hummed with and pressed with a smirk on his face, “Sure, that’s why you’ve been staring at the same page for the past ten minutes.”

Loki sent a weak glare at the man and rolled his eyes. “I’m thinking about the new additions to the tower.”

“What about them?”

“How they’ll react to me being here, not particularly that I care just-”

“-You don’t want to start problems,” Mobius finished for Loki and gestured him to scootch over in the chair which Loki complied letting Mobius sit next to him.

“You don’t have to worry about them, just focus on your remaining months,” Mobius shrugged, his shoulders bumped into Loki's, causing him to grunt. “They probably won’t even make it that long, you got like 3 months left? Yeah, they’ll be too busy causing their own problems to worry about you.”

Loki snorted, “Is that your bet? 3 months?” Loki himself had made the bet for 2 months, did he really care about this whole Team Cap vs Team Iron Man thing? No, but he wasn’t going to pass up the chance to get money

“Of course not, I bet they’ll last 4 months,” Mobius smirked as he got more comfortable in the seat. “You cheated, did you not?” Loki accused, looking at the other man with suspicion.

“I didn’t! Scouts honor!” Mobius raised his hands in surrender. Seeing Loki’s doubtful face he added on, “And Slyvie made sure I didn’t.” Loki nodded, seeming satisfied with that, causing Mobius to push Loki into the side of the chair.

“Stop that!” Loki grunted pushing back. The two would push against each other for a bit until someone cleared their throat. They looked up from glaring at each other to see Slyvie there staring smugly at the two of them.

“So this is what the two of you have been up to,” Slyvie placed a hand on her hip. She then focused her attention on Loki, “You’re late.”

“Late?” Loki questioned. Late for what? He had no collection of what he could possibly be late for.

“Uh, don’t you remember? Capes said that he wanted to get some training done today. You didn’t show so he sent me to come fetch you,” Slyvie informed. “If I were you, I’d come up with a good excuse to why you’re late cause I doubt Mr. Wizard is going to accept whatever the two of you were doing with your boyfriend as an excuse.”

Loki shimmied free from the couch mumbling a curse, “I’ll think of something, I am the God of Lies after all.”

“And yet, you’re a terrible liar,” Mobius snarked. “Shut up,” Loki turned his head around to glare at him, Mobius chuckling at his action.

“Yeah, yeah,” Slyvie rolled her eyes. “Stop flirting and let’s get going. The last thing we need is Oscar Diggs to come looking for the both of us and whatever lie you’re thinking of, and I agree you’re a terrible liar, is thrown out the window.”

“We’re not flirting.”

“Who the fuck is Oscar Diggs?”

“Is that seriously what you focus on?” Loki looked at Mobius incredulously. He’d pause then turn to his female variation and continued, “No, Mobius is right, who is Oscar Diggs?”

“The Wizard of Oz, his full name Oscar Zoroaster Phadrig Isaac Norman Henkle Emmannuel Ambroise Diggs,” A voice spoke, startling all 3 people. They turned around to see Dr. Strange staring unimpressed. He’d faced Slyvie and continued, “You were taking too long.”

Slyvie pointed her two fingers at Loki and Mobius, “Blame them, I tried to get a move on but they wouldn’t stop flirting!”

Dr. Strange sighed, pinching his nose. “I don’t really care what they were doing,” Dr. Strange would open a portal to the training room. “Just go through the damn portal.”

Slyvie nodded, grabbing Loki’s hand and dragged him through the portal as Loki waved goodbye to Mobius who waved back. Dr. Strange then stepped through the portal closing it. He felt a migraine coming up as he heard Slyvie and Loki argue on whether Mobius and him were actually flirting or not.
