Work Text:

It was a typical Friday in Aziraphale's bookshop. He got up at 7 am, make himself a cup of tea and opened the shop. Friday was a day when a lot of students came by, hoping that they would find books that would wonderfully help with their grades. However, not even once did the angel sold a book. Instead, he was talking to the customers, trying to help them as much as he could. Crowley, on the other hand, decided to spend the whole day lying in bed, tangled in the amount of blankets that Aziraphale brought him.

"Crowley, my dear, don't you think it would be nice to get up?" the angel chuckled when he saw his lover twisted in a variety of ways. He couldn't really see where the demon's head was so, in fact, he was talking to the fluffy bundle rather than to Crowley himself.

"'s warm here, 'ngel," the demon's voice went through the fabric of the blankets.

Aziraphale sat down on the bed and rubbed the covers where he assumed the demon's head was. "Let's at least eat something, dear boy," the angel suggested.

"Mhm," the ginger mumbled and poked his head from under the blankets, nuzzling in the angel's soft hand.

"I'll be right back," Aziraphale claimed and stood up, leaving the bedroom.

A few weeks earlier he had decided to take up cooking. He thought that it would be nice to make food on his own. What's more, he realized that he really enjoyed the process of preparing a meal. Now, not only eating but also making food was giving him joy. Even more, when it was Crowley who was the one to eat it afterwards. The demon always appreciated Aziraphale's food. He was really good at cooking.

This time, he decided on scrambled eggs. Crowley, being a snake after all, said it was the best meal for breakfast.

"Okay, dear, time to wake u-," Aziraphale started saying but stopped when he spotted a big serpent where his husband was just a while ago. "Got very comfy, didn't you?" the angel chuckled, patting the snake's head.

The demon used to turn into his snake form everytime he felt overwhelmingly comfortable. Aziraphale used to call it melting because it really looked like that.

Crowley wrapped himself around the angel's waist and stared at the plate.

"Yes, yes, I know," Aziraphale said and snapped his fingers, turning the scrambled eggs into small eggs for the snake to eat.

As usual, he swallowed them all and curled up back in his blanket best.

"I see there's no way of getting you out of the bed today," the angel chuckled and wrapped Crowley tighter in the blankets, not letting the warmth escape. "I'll be downstairs if you need me, dear," he said and kisses the snake's head.

The demon only followed the angel with his eyes until he left the bedroom. Crowley once more nestled himself under the blankets and additionally wrapped himself around Spike.

"I don't think that's necessary, my dear," Aziraphale said, trying to discourage a young lady from buying a book. "You can find this book on the Int-" he didn't end because he heard a thump coming from the upstairs.

"Excuse me, dear," he said quickly and rushed upstairs, knowing that something could have happened to Crowley.

"Crowley, are you okay?" he asked before he noticed the demon's phone that was now lying on the floor.

Following the track of the device, Aziraphale looked at the bed and spotted something slim and short, tangled in the blanket. The angel kneeled in front of the little creature and gaped when two little golden eyes looked at him.

"Cro- Tony?" the blonde asked unsure and stroked the little snake's head. The animal tilted his head and slowly crawled up Aziraphale's arm and wrapped around his neck, nuzzling right under his chin.

"Hello, there, little one," the angel chuckled. "Do you want to be my companion downstairs?" Tony nodded and licked the man's cheek with his thin tongue.

Aziraphale carefully stood up. The snake could fit on his hand when he curled up so the angel decided to put it in the pocket in his coat. That way, Tony was secured and comfortable in the warm and cosy pocket, right next to the angel's heart.

For the first hour, Tony was still curled up in the pocket, quietly listening to Aziraphale talking to the customers. Especially, he enjoyed the angel's laugh that the snake could feel as a pleasant trembling of his chest.

"I'm looking for a specific bo-" one of the young girls said. She stopped and stared at Aziraphale's coat.

"Is there something wrong, my dear?" he asked politely, smiling at the young woman.

She pointed at him. "Is it a snake in your pocket, sir?"

Aziraphale chuckled. "Oh, yes," he said and looked down, spotting a small black head and the curious eyes that were looking around the room. Tony tilted his head as he looked at the girl. "His name is Tony."

The girl smiled and gently stroked the animal's head. At first, Tony seemed a little shy but after a while he leaned in her touch so much that he almost fell out of Aziraphale's pocket.

"Woah, careful there, little beast," the angel chuckled and caught him, holding in his hand.

The snake looked up at Aziraphale and it looked almost like he smiled apologetically at him. However, he still had that naughty glance in his eyes.

After a few next customers, the angel put Tony down on the table, asking him to stay there. Of course, when the blonde went back with a cup of tea, there was no sigh of the little snake.

Aziraphale sighed. "Tony, please, come out," he said, looking around the bookshop. It wasn't hard to spot the big, black serpent, however now, when the serpent was only a few inches long, it was rather impossible to find him.

"Tony, buddy!" the angel shouted, a little worried now. He walked around the bookshelves, trying to spot him maybe hiding between the books.

After a while, the blonde spotted Tony, sleeping on the top of the bookshelf, curled up in a little bundle. He only smiled and decided not to wake him. If he felt safe and comfortable there, there was no reason to take him away from there.

"Have a great day, ma'am!" Azirahale said goodbye to his last customer before closing the bookshop. He stretched his arms and sighed. It was a productive day. Not a single book sold.

He was about to take off his clothes and put on his tartan pyjamas. A big smile appeared on his face as he was walking to the stairs, already thinking about his warm bed and the newest book he had just started reading.

On his way between the bookshelves, suddenly, he heard a rumble and just before he managed to look up, a certain demon fell in his arms with a scared scream. His long limbs quickly wrapped themselves around the angel's body.

"Woah, angel, it seems that I've fallen for you," Crowley said flirtatiously and winked at the blonde who only shook his head with a chuckle.

"You still think crawling on the top of the bookshelf was a good idea?"

The demon grinned. "You know I'm adventurous, angel."

"A adventurous little snake, that's what you are," Aziraphale smirked and went upstairs with his husband in his arms. "I didn't know that you being little would affect your snake form," he confessed.

"Neither have I but it was cool. To be actually little," Crowley smiled and cuddled to the angel as both of them lied down on the bed. "Thank you for taking me with you. Your pocket is very comfy."

Aziraphale kissed the top of Crowley's head. "I'm glad you enjoyed it. However, I'd be very happy if you didn't wander away, you foul fiend."

"Can't promise you that, angel," he chuckled and nuzzled in the blonde's chest before closing his eyes. Another well spent day with his angel.
