Chapter 1: 1- killing is never an option except for when it is.

Chapter Text

There was something off about Midoriya.
This was Iida’s thought after running with his friend. He didn’t know how to describe it.

He liked to think he knew his friend well. At least well enough to notice if, when something wasn’t adding up. Wasn’t making sense.

So Iida started noticing the smaller things, because Kami knows the boy would never admit something was wrong out loud. Not when the matter at hand was himself.

He noticed how Midoriya mumbled just a bit louder than usual, how he was out of breath faster than he would on a normal day, he didn’t even so much as mention a new hero or their quirk. Something the taller knew was of great importance to his friend.

He knew these small occurrences could happen for simple reasons, like for example having a bad day. Iida’s instincts on the other told him that it was something bigger. He knew better than to not listen to them, he knew better now.

Hosu would be the last time he refused to listen to his instincts. They told him he would regret going after that killer (no, that monster) and he did. He is still grateful that he did listen to his instincts after the villain attack, in Kamino Ward. When his classmate was kidnapped and others refused to let the pro’s handle it.

He knew he was breaking the rules both days, but for some reason he could only bring himself to regret, truly regret, the first.
Because he knew that if he had not been there, if anyone of their little group had not been there. Bakugou would still be in the villains grasp. And that would simply not do.

Back to the topic at hand.

Midoriya.

The class president knew something was happening. However, he didn’t know what nor did he have enough evidence to do something about it. He would simply have to keep watching.

Deku is acting strange.
This is Uraraka’s thought while talking with him. She didn’t know how she knew or when she started noticing it. Maybe after he came back from his visit home.

She didn't know Deku as well as she would have liked. She did know more than most and it’s that thought that makes her look for signs.

Once the brunette started looking she found a lot of things that just… didn’t fit. Now if you didn’t pay attention you wouldn’t notice a thing. But she did. And she noticed a lot.

She noticed the difference in the way he holds himself, the way his eyes are sharper than normal. Even the tone to which he greets her good morning is different. It’s more nervous? Maybe? On edge would be more accurate. She couldn’t really tell for some reason.

There is a big chance that Uraraka is imagining things, and she knows that. She is aware of that. There is just something about her best friend that makes him different.

She knows she doesn’t know everything. She does however know the green haired boy's home situation isn’t really, how do you put it, pleasant. There is a reason Deku and Shouto are so close after all. The girl may not like it but at least they have each other.

The nerd was being weird.
Bakugou just couldn’t let go of that feeling that something was off.

The blonde knew that his friend (they were too close to be classmates at this point) had to go home that weekend so he tried to shrug it off. The place did nothing good for that piece of shit. Maybe he was just recovering from being there.

His ‘relationship’ with the nerd has been getting better. Therapy still sucked but hey, doing what has to be done. Anyways. They have civil conversations nowadays. And a lot of things were cleared up. On both sides. He now knew a lot of things he was pretty sure no one else knew.

He finally knew why he disappeared for two whole months when they were 7-ish. Knew what he has been doing ever since. He knew how Inko had really treated him (and didn’t that just make his blood boil, this whole time he was jealous of Deku for having a perfect parent while that was never true. The nerd had to hold him back from going after her saying shit like ”she doesn’t hurt me anymore” like that makes it any better) and how his stupid excuse for a father left when he was four because he ‘didn’t want some useless son’. For some reason he is back now too. And from what Deku told him, those reasons weren’t any good.

Back to what’s important.

The nerd is back and he’s acting not like himself. He knew others saw it too, round face may be half blind to Deku’s past but she isn’t stupid. The prez knew something was off too, Bakugou saw him looking at the greenette in an analytical way, like they were in class or some shit.

Eventually they did end up in class, and Bakugou was like eighty-present sure that this Midoriya was not Midoriya. He had to admit, the person impersonating him did a pretty good fucking job. He just had the advantage of a whole ass childhood with the fucker.

On the other hand he wishes it isn’t true at all. He doesn’t want to think where Deku is if not here with the rest of the class. What happened the last time he disappeared-

No, he had to stop thinking like that. He has to be fine. He has to be. Katsuki would know when something is wrong surely?

He would.

And that’s the thing isn’t it?

He did.
