Work Text:

Kate poured a cup of flour in the bowl and almost sneezed when the cloud of dust wafted up into her nose. She quickly wiped her nose with a napkin to get rid of the ticklish feeling in it and looked at the recipe on the bag beside her.

“It says we need two and a fourth cups of flour,” Yelena said from her spot next to Kate. Kate nodded and dumped another cup of flour in the bowl.

Yelena laughed at the cloud of dust that puffed up and hit Kate’s face. “Kate Bishop, your face is as white as snow now,” she said. Kate stuck her tongue out at Yelena, even though it was childish.

Then she scooped up a small amount of flour from the bag and threw it at Yelena, giggling at the shocked look on the blond’s face when it hit her. “Kate Bishop!” Yelena said in a mock offended voice. “Well now you’ve started a war,” Yelena said, and threw a small handful of flour at Kate.

Kate laughed and tried to duck, but she wasn’t fast enough. The flour hit her hair, coating it in white dust, making her look much older than she was.

Yelena got another small handful of flour and held it up threateningly. “Surrender yet?” she asked, a teasing grin on her face.

Kate smiled mischievously. “Never!” she shouted, and ran around Yelena. Yelena laughed and threw the flour at Kate’s retreating back.

It hit her, and Kate collapsed into a heap on the floor, groaning dramatically. “Oh, I’m hit! Oh, the betrayal!” she cried.

Yelena walked forward and crouched next to Kate, flipping her over onto her back. Kate was laughing, and as soon as Yelena’s face was visible, Kate unleashed her secret weapon.

A handful of flour she had grabbed on her way past Yelena.

She threw it straight in Yelena’s face, relishing in the surprised look it created on Yelena’s face. Yelena sat there in stunned silence for a moment and then she was top of Kate, tickling her fiercely.

Kate could barely breathe with how much she was laughing. “Alright, I surrender, I surrender!” she managed to get out. Yelena stopped tickling and sat back on her heels, a triumphant smile on her face.

Kate sat up. “You know, we should probably get back to the cookies,” she said. Yelena didn’t answer. Instead, she leaned forward and kissed Kate deeply, cupping her hands around Kate’s flour-covered cheeks.

Kate was surprised, but she kissed Yelena back, enjoying the tingle running down her spine at Yelena’s lips on hers. They separated for a moment.

“Or we could do this,” Kate murmured, her forehead leaning against Yelena’s. Yelena smiled.

“I much prefer this to cleaning the kitchen,” Yelena said, and leaned in to kiss Kate again.
