Summary
Blackbeard is a mystery-- the man behind the legend is a bit more complicated with blood dripping from his hands and state secrets to sell. He's good for nothing, a criminal who pretends he doesn't like fine things, and he's the leader of one of the world's most illustrious crime rings. To make it all worse, he's absolutely bored with all the money and power he holds, only going on raids that actually make him feel something.
When his crew recovers a human trafficking victim on a raid on cargo ship-- another path starts to open up to Blackbeard-- a path he never thought a man like him would get the chance to have. He doesn't deserve it, but there's something about this annoyingly optimistic if not aloof man that irritates and encourages him to maybe try to have the life he actually wants, a life with Stede Bonnet forever in it.
But Stede Bonnet had a life before he was taken and Ed is resolved to get him back to it, if only to make sure Stede is happy. Maybe he's utterly missing the point that Stede has started to make it perfectly clear that he'll only have a happy life if Ed is in it.
