[day four of lmanweek: taking a break]

Notes:

Day four! :DDD

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Wilbur sighs as another stack of paperwork was put onto his desk.

“Another stack is arriving soon, Wil,” Tommy says, “get ready for the torture to arise!”

“Ugh, another one? I haven’t even finished the one that you gave me thirty seconds ago!”

“Being the president is hard, man. That’s the thing, Wil, that’s why I always go for vice,” Tommy says happily.

“You still need to do work as a vice president though, not just the president,” Wilbur says in a know-it-all voice.

“What the citizens don’t see, they won’t know. That’s my motto of life! However, a man’s work is never done, time to go back to work, Wil,” Tommy says.

“That doesn’t even go with our conversation,” Wilbur says as he signs and writes. He scribbles his initials on every single piece of paper that lay on his desk. He groans as each second passes. He looks at the clock and watches it turn to midnight. Tommy is snoring on the couch as drool washes his clothes.

Wilbur wakes up with black ink on the edge of his hand. He smells something and looks up to the sight of Tommy staring at him, which causes Wilbur to shriek and fall out of his chair.

“What was that for, Tommy?!” Wilbur screams out.

“You looked comfy in that position, so I didn’t want to wake you up. But I decided in order to wake you up without actually waking you up, I will just stare at you until your soul is demolished.”

“What?”

“I know, I’m smart! There’s no need to applaud me, Wilbur. Honestly, I’m being so humble right now.”

“Wha-” Wilbur tries to say before feeling a sharp pain strike his head, “ah!”

“Oh! Are you alright, Wil?” Tommy asks as he ran up to Wilbur; he started to freak out.

Wilbur closes his eyes shut and says, “Y- yeah, I have n- never felt better! Ah- gosh, that hurt.”

“Wil, you need a fricking break from all of this. You’re burning yourself out! Don’t you remember that one time when you collapsed in from of me? Whilst practicing your speech? Don’t you remember what happened?!” Tommy said.

He was worried for his friend, they were practically brothers, and like brothers, the other cared for the other when they were sick. It’s just that Wilbur didn’t accept being comforted. He didn’t like feeling vulnerable. He liked being in power, and you can’t be in power if you’re sick.

“I do remember, Toms. However, I need to finish this work. Just like you said, a man’s work is never done! Ow!!” Wilbur clutched onto his head; he felt a wave of pain coarse through his body. It felt like he was burning alive, yet he was in Alaska or Antarctica or some other cold place.

“Wilbur! I- I’m calling Phil RIGHT. NOW.”

“N- no, i- it’s- I- I’m fine!” Wilbur says in a raspy voice. The world suddenly got bright, and half of his face felt numb.

“Nope, there is nothing that you are going to do! Take a sleep pill, man, you need to get to the couch,” Tommy says as he takes out his phone and calls Philza while leading Wilbur out of the chair and onto the couch. This was the moment when Tommy found out that Wilbur is a very whiney child when he is sick.

“But I d- don’t wanna go to the couch! I n- need to f- finish signing, Tom!” Wilbur whined.

“I’m only saying this once, Wilbur. ONCE. Get out of that chair, and onto the couch. You need some sleep, not milk.”

“But-”

“No, buts from you mister! Get on the couch and sleep!” Tommy ordered Wilbur. He never knew that he would need to call Wilbur ‘mister.’ He also never knew that Wilbur was so annoying.

“Ughhh, fineeeee!” Wilbur whines. He tries to stand up, but immediately falls back into the chair. Tommy catches Wilbur just in time so that his head doesn’t get chopped off by the swords that were standing behind both of them. Why were there swords? Well, self-defense!

Tommy put Wilbur onto the couch and put a blanket over him. Tommy finally had the time to call Phil, but Wilbur was still whining.

dailing…

“Hey, Toms! What are you doing?” Phil said in a cheerful voice.

“Wilbur’ssickandhekindofpassedoutonme!” Tommy hurried, Wilbur was silent, so he’s probably either dead, which he prayed not, or sleeping, which he wished for, but Wilbur probably isn’t doing that any time soon, or he passed out like a dead battery on the couch.

“Wait, what? All I heard was that Wilbur’s sick. What’s wrong?” Philza said with his father mode completely turned on. His cheerful voice was now changed to a scared-for-life voice.

“I think Wilbur’s passed out!”

“Well, check if he has a pulse! Where are you guys?”

“We’re in the office, but what happens if he dies?!”

“Don’t say that he’s going to die! Jinxing things is bad, and it’s not the time to think badly about your peers!”

“He’s not my peer, he’s literally my leader! And he could be dying right now! Hurry, Phil!” Tommy yells through the phone.

“I’m trying to, but it’s not that easy when your car is still turning on!”

“Well- just make it turn on faster, then!”

“Tommy, enough of that. Is Wilbur breathing? Does he have a pulse for gods sake!”

Tommy checks if Wilbur has a pulse, and it looked like Wilbur was breathing. His chest was moving, so he thought that was a sign. I mean, isn’t it? (Okay, enough. Stop messing around!)

“H- he has a pulse, a- and he’s breathing!”

“Okay, I’m almost there, Tommy!”

***

“He needs rest. He’s over exhausted himself, he made him burnout. He also had a migraine, so he must stay in a dark lit room for the next couple of days and maybe even weeks. His eyes will be quite sensitive to light, and when I mean that he will be quite sensitive, I mean that he’ll be really sensitive to light,” the doctor tells Phil and Tommy.

“Alright, is there anything else that you need to tell us, doctor?” Philza asks. They were in Wilbur’s room. When Philza arrived at the office, Tommy had called a doctor right after the call ended, and the doctor was already looking over Wilbur.

After a couple of hours, they moved Wilbur to his bedroom and let him rest for the rest of the week.

“So, you’re telling me as the vice president, I am to finish the work that the president couldn’t finish?!”

“Yup.”

“WHAT THE FU-”
