His dark brown hair looked soft - but still messy.
How could messy hair look so soft?
Chuuya did not understand and wondered how the locks would feel if he twirled them around his fingertips.
The soft, brown, warm hair curled at the ends - especially at the nape of his neck.
The same neck that was permanently covered in white bandages. Bandages that usually were the same colour as the sickly pale skin they covered.
But not today.
His skin was brighter. Rosier.
The rosy colour of his skin had even spread to his cheeks and his lips, making him look younger and more innocent than Chuuya had ever seen him.
And he was talking so loud, laughing at some intricate scheme that Chuuya probably lacked the intelligence to understand.
How could someone be so smart?
The hand gestures that accompanied the story were grand and busy and proud.
His laughter was absolutely mesmerising.
Because - for the first time in a long time - Dazai actually looked alive.
Properly alive.
The kind of alive that shows that you want to live.
Dazai cocked his head to the side, probably wondering why Chuuya was staring at him silently instead of laughing along.
Golden brown eyes locked into blue.
"What is it, Chuuya?"
"Nothing." Chuuya could feel a blush spreading across his cheeks. "You just look nice today."
Dazai grinned his beautiful grin and Chuuya swore the butterflies in his chest were going to be his death.
"Thank you."
