"We're going to an art auction?" he looked back up at Ed who was grinning with pride.
"Yes! I thought since I, well, ruined the majority of your artwork while you were away that we should shop for some new ones!"
Stede's heart swelled, but his smile felt more like a grimace. "Oh, darling, that's so thoughtful! But does it have to be in Charlestown? Surely there is art for sale in places where you are not so desperately in danger?"
"It's a masquerade, Stede! It's perfect!"
"That's true…"
"Did you see the list of featured artists?" Ed tapped the parchment eagerly.
Stede had not read that far, so he looked at the flyer again. The list contained many names, some that were familiar, more that weren't, but then at the bottom: The Widow Bonnet. "Mary?" he nearly whispered in surprise.
Or, Ed plans a surprise date for Stede - to go to an art auction to buy more of Mary's art to decorate the Revenge. Only Ed doesn't know that Mary herself will be there. Plus some of the crew are coming along so who know what kind of trouble they'll end up in.
