Thunder in Springtime

Summary:

CLOTHO:
Long ago, Ouranos set into motion
the destructive cycle of the gods.
Ever since, each age ends the same:
a King overthrown, and gods reduced
to dust scattered on the winds.

LACHESIS:
Now it is the era of the Olympians.
But this age seems soon to end;
Zeus is filled with a familiar paranoia, and
it's about to become *everyone's* problem.

ATROPOS:
So many things have happened after
the union of the rulers of the Underworld.
It'd be a shame to end all of this growth
because of the self-destructive actions
of a King who never quite understood
the difference betwixt desire and duty.

LACHESIS:
And no other gods in any of the three realms
are going to take what Zeus dishes out
without a fight.

CLOTHO:
Join us for a most fabulous entertainment,
full of ichor, lightning, betrayal, and love
through not just this age but throughout time.

ATROPOS:
For history does not repeat; but it does rhyme.

Note: multiple mediums, formats, and genres are used, including but not limited to: comics, screen and stage plays, and riffs on epic poetry. There is a musical episode.

Notes:

1. Words by AJ Anh ([Older] Brother AJ), art by AJ Em ([Younger] Sibling AJ, who usually goes by "aj").

2. I have been asked if this story makes Zeus an anti-villain or anti-hero, or if it villifies him utterly. The answer is: what in Tartarus are you talking about? There are neither heroes nor villains here. There are only people.

3. There are no sex scenes, because I tend towards other kinds of nonsense.

Chapter 1: Prelude: Drowning

Summary:

Musing on the steadfastness of Hades' love for Persephone, and what misfortunes that strength might still open him up to.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Poem text:

Your love is as expansive as the seas
But turned against itself
and you drown.

Your love is as deep as the pit of Tartarus
But turned against itself
and you fall.

Your love is as eternal as your diamonds
But one cuts a diamond
with a diamond.
