Lies My Mother Used to Tell

Summary:

“You are quirkless.”

In a world where vampires rule, humans struggle a lot. But if you have a strong quirk, a good job and maybe also someone special in your life, it isn’t too bad. But not everyone gets this lucky. The ones who haven’t reached the next step in human evolution get taken away from their family and become high valuable food sources for the ruling race.

All his life, Izuku had thought that he had an intelligence quirk. Until one fateful day, a villain attack reveals a secret he didn’t know he was hiding and Izuku’s world gets turned upside down.
Where will he go? What will he do? And will he ever forgive the hero who literally sniffed out his biggest secret?

(This is a SEPARATE story, the series is only for orga-reasons! NO need to read the other part before this one!)

Notes:

I started working on this project around New Year’s, I think, but then other works had priority. Now I’m picking it back up to see where this story will go.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Prologue

Inko was sobbing. She had managed to control herself on their way home from the doctor, but now that they were back in the safety of their home, the floodgates opened. And the sight of his mother crying was scaring her little son, but there was nothing she could do about it. Why? Why did it have to be her son?
“Mommy?,” Izuku asked hesitantly, tugging on his mother’s sleeve. “Mommy, what’s wrong? Why are you sad?”
“I-izuku… Listen to me, Izuku. About what the doctor said… you can’t tell anyone, okay?”
“Not even Kacchan?”
“No, not even Kacchan,” Inko said, whipping away her tears.
“Why not?”
“Because they will take you away from mommy if you do. Do you want that?”
“No! No, mommy, I don’t wanna go! Please!”
Now it was Izuku’s turn to cry, his small hands clawing at Inko’s shirt.
“Shshsh, it’s alright, Izu-baby. Just do as mommy says and everything will be alright,” Inko said, picking up her small son and cradling her in her arms. “I will protect you.”
