Work Text:

“I have a gift for you.” Obi-Wan told Cody as he walked through the doorway into their shared quarters.

Cody looked up from the paperwork he was doing at the desk. “Oh? And what might the occasion be?”

Obi-Wan stopped in front of Cody, smiling shyly. “Does there need to be an occasion for me to get something special for the man I love?”

It was Cody’s turn to smile now. “No, I suppose not.”

Obi-Wan’s grin widened, and he pulled out a little brown package from inside the pocket of his robe. It was small enough to fit in the palm of his hand, and was secured together with a thin piece of twine.

Obi-Wan held the package out and Cody took it from him, turning it over in his hands and examining it further. It was almost weightless, and Cody wasn’t exactly sure what something this small could be.

Cody began to unwrap the parcel, discarding the twine on the desk. He unfolded the brown paper and couldn’t hide his short intake of breath as he stared in awe at the small object in the wrappings.

He looked up at Obi-Wan, a huge smile already making its way to his face. “It’s- it’s beautiful!” Cody gasped out.

“I’m glad you like it.” Obi-Wan breathed out. It was evident he wasn’t sure what Cody’s reaction would be. Which was stupid, considering what Obi-Wan had gotten him.

Cody looked back down, examining the object. Delicately placed in the folds of the brown paper was a small braid of thread, coming together at both ends to form a circle. The threads were two shades of green, one darker and one lighter, weaving in and out of each other in a simple, but intricate pattern. That was not even the most special part. Each time the green threads crossed over each other, there was a small sunflower placed at the meeting point.

Obi-Wan began speaking, “Ahsoka was making bracelets with some of the other padawans at the mess hall. I asked her to show me a couple patterns. She had some with flowers so I thought this one would be best. I suspect she knows why I wanted to make one, but she was eager to help anyway, something about ‘Grand-Master & Grand-Padawan bonding’ I guess.” Cody looked up to find Obi-Wan smiling down at him. He continued, “I figured you wouldn't want a bracelet, as it might get in the way of your armor. So I made it the length for an anklet, that way you could wear it under your blacks, so it’s hidden. And safe. It won’t get torn or dirtied if it’s not exposed.”

Cody stood up, placing the anklet on the desk, along with the packaging, and took a step towards Obi-Wan, who was still talking, words speeding up as if he was making himself more nervous about the gift the longer he talked.

Obi-Wan turned away a little and rubbed the back of his neck. “Of course, you don't have to wear it if you don't want to, I just thought—’’

He was cut off by Cody’s lips crashing against his, the force of it causing him to stumble. He was steadied by Cody’s arm around his waist, pulling their bodies against each other.

Cody pulled away from Obi-Wan’s lips. “Of course I’ll wear it, love. It’s perfect.”

“Oh,” Obi-Wan replied softly, all of his worries rushing out of him on an exhale. “I’m glad you like it.” He was smiling now, and pressed another kiss to Cody’s lips before pulling away and grabbing the anklet off of the desk.

Obi-Wan knelt down at Cody’s feet and rolled up the bottom of his blacks just slightly. He wrapped the anklet around Cody’s ankle, and secured it with a couple knots before he lowered Cody’s pant leg back down.

He stood back up, wrapping his arms around Cody’s neck, and planting a kiss on the man’s cheek. “There, now you’ll have it with you wherever you go.”

Cody smiled, wrapping his arms around Obi-Wan’s waist and holding him close. “Thank you, Obi-Wan. I’ll never take it off.”

And if Cody kept his promise, and wore the anklet  through every meeting, battle and celebration, even after the war ended? Well, that information only concerned two people: Cody and Obi-Wan. No one else would ever need to know.

**Authors Note:

This is what the bracelet looks like, but with sunflowers instead of daisies.

Notes:

I saw a flower bracelet on tik tok and immediately thought of Obi Wan making one for cody, so I wrote this! I hope you liked it!
