A strong purr emanated from Stanley. His ear flickered a little, as he laid against the chest of the Narrator.
The narrator was petting Stanley. Pampering him on the couch. They’d been in the lounge for a while now. Ever since the narrator reset, and found Stanley with cat ears. He’d never wanted to stop petting him.
Stanley, on the other hand, was enjoying the attention he was receiving. He cuddled up against the narrator more. A chirp emanated from him as he nestled into his chest..
The narrator smiled. Giving Stanley another pet.
“You’re so sweet like this, if only you were like this during previous runs.”
Stanley didn’t listen, continuing to purr. The narrator took that as a ‘mhm, yeah, whatever.’ So he decided not to care too much either, and continued to cuddle with Stanley.
After a bit though, the narrator grew anxious. He needed to complete his story. He still wanted to pet Stanley..but the story still nagged him in the back of his mind. He couldn’t abandon his responsibilities just for a few pets.
So, he sighed, and decided to bring up the elephant in the room.
“Okay stanley, we should get up now. After all, we need to at least get to one ending. It doesn’t even have to be the correct one.”
Stanley looked up at the Narrator, with a warm reassuring smile. Being a catboy, he could sense the Narrator was stressed. So, he came up with a simple solution.
‘How about we make this an ending?…if you reset enough, you’ll have a chance of getting me with cat ears! In fact, we’re in the middle of the ending right now..‘
‘There’s two variations of this ending. One where I don’t have cat ears, and I can’t purr. Then the other, which is happening right now.’
‘The ending, well, ends..when we decide it does. You can reset whenever you want, Narry. It’s okay..’
Narry smiled, his heart felt warm from the encouragement. Stanley didn’t normally act like this, so a part of him felt like he was being sarcastic..but at the same time, it seemed genuine.
The narrator chuckled, he could do with that. Maybe this was a good ending to stick with for now.
“Oh, that’ll do..this is probably one of my favorite endings now. Just being with you. Cuddling you..”
He began to pet Stanley, in response. Stanley let out a really loud purr, and hugged Narry harder. Purring loudly..now that was a happy cat. Stanley could sense he’d done his job.
Ridding his narrator of any stress was his job…unless he didn’t have cat ears. Oh, then he’d do anything to annoy him. But right now, these pets would do.
“You’re such a good boy.”
The narrator said, he kissed Stanley on his forehead. Stanley blushed. Okay, maybe he won’t annoy Narry anymore. Looking a little tired, Stanley yawned. Before laying his head down onto Narry’s chest.
The narrator was getting rather tired as well. He held Stanley close to him, before giving him a tiny peck on the lips.
They broke the kiss, and as soon as they did. They both closed their eyes..drifting off to a peaceful sleep..
