Chapter Text
”We haven’t even started talking yet, and I’m already out of patience with you.”
Ah. Well, it looked like Alex was their normal self then. That was— good for Morgan, bad for Chad.
It really sucked that he was Chad.
”So I highly recommend you make good use of the limited time you have left to live, and tell me what the fuck is going on.”
Definitely a normal Alex. Well then.
”O-Of course Alex, I was just about to explain— but before you do I feel the need to remind you that I am on the Do Not Kill List.”
There. A giant flashing warning sign that Chad remembered too, plus a way to buy time— for now.
”Then I feel the need to clarify that the Do Not Kill List is not a guarantee— it is simply a promise to try.”
Chad felt himself shrivel up with fear, but he held steady. He had to stay brave.
”And right now I am trying VERY hard. Do you need me to repeat my question?”
No. No, Chad did not.
”Nope, no, uh, I’ve got it. So, essentially, you know my parents and Morgan— they kidnapped Morgan and have taken them to a secondary location, and I called you because you can track them down.”
There. Everything was off Chad’s chest. Everything was out of his hands now.
”And how would I do that, Chad? We both know I’ve never killed someone with tracking powers before.”
Ah. It wasn’t enough.
”I know, but— surely you must have some way?”
”What do you think I am? Some kind of psycho stalker who has them magically microchipped?”
Was that. . . Rhetorical? It had to be.
Chad paused. It was not rhetorical.
”Yeah.”
