Work Text:
A pair of two figures leisurely strolled on the ghosted road filled with broken cars and and broken posters. The sky abive them was dark, yet was filled with shining stars that seemed to guide them on their way to some place.
Their hands was linked tightly and no one was speaking. A peaceful atmosphere was wrapped around them, content with each other’s calm presence.
On their way, they can see some dead bodies that had been squished by huge debris, cars and sharp objects. The sight itself was terrifying, but in the case of these two, they didn’t even bat an eye to the corpses.
The smaller one started humming, a soft nostalgic song from a few years ago before the destruction. The simple melody bought them back to the memories of their peaceful years.
One secretly shed a tear.
They suddenly stopped, as the taller one looked at the map on his hands. Despite of being able to live on this place for so long, he can’t tell exactly what place they were because of the destruction. Thus, in order to not get lost, they stole a map from one of the shops and started navigating.
“Seems like we’re almost close now.” Yoo Joonghyuk softly said, his thumb carefully caressing his partner’s hand. “Can you already feel it?”
“Yeah. The sea breeze… is very refreshing.” Kim Dokja replied and closed the distance between them.
They shared a small smile and increased their speed in walking. Kim Dokja then suddenly lost his strength to stand up. Fortunately, Yoo Joonghyuk was quick to move, he immediately carried the latter on his arms.
“Do you want to sit on my shoulders?” Yoo Joonghyuk asked, patiently waiting for the reply.
“Its fine. Im also…. Too heavy for you to carry like that.”
“But i always carry you every night when we do it, though?”
Kim Dokja’s face reddened and immediately attacked Yoo Joonghyuk’s chest with lighthearted punches. On the way to the Sea, he scolded the man, not caring even if he already repeated words over and over.
Yoo Joonghyuk on the other side, happily listened, as if he was listening to his favorite song.
This caused Kim Dokja to be more angry and bit his neck.

As soon as they arrived at the beach, the pair voluntarily cleaned their sorroundings to make things more relaxing to stay. Kim Dokja pushed some bodies under the sand, while Yoo Joonghyuk found a small bench from the abandoned stalls displayed on the area.
What they did was tiring, but was also fun. As they both were burying the bodies underground, they made fun of how its faces turned to ugly ones. The made fun of the ragged short of a certain corpse, ugly hair of a certain corpse and so on.
What made them laugh the most was the appearance of their previously hated teacher from high school lying on the beach with no arms present.
“Remember when she used to hit us with thick wooden rulers to the point that our skin turns red and will be swollen by tomorrow?” Kim Dokja said as he kicked the corpse to the pit they made.
“Of course. Your face wasn’t really pleasant to see when you cried.”
"Hey!"
-
They talked for an hour as they cleaned the small area of the beach. Talking about the nostalgic past they were willing to go back to if they have the chance. They even talked about the ugly experiences they went through together as boyfriends before.
Those memories should be painful for them but in their case in this kind of situation, they laughed it off.
After cleaning, they sat together on the bench Yoo Joonghyuk found earlier. Kim Dokja contentedly leaned his head towards Yoo Joonghyuk’s shoulder and closed his eyes.
Seeing his little lover tired from the cleaning, Yoo Joonghyuk caressed his head and looked at the watch on his wrist.
10:00
“10 minutes left.” He softly spoke. “Would you like to see the sun rise with me?”
“Of course, of course.” Kim Dokja softly said in reply and opened his eyes only to see the light slowly piercing on the edge of the sea in front of them.
“I never knew we could actually enjoy sunrise in this kind of situation.”
“I thought so too…” Kim Dokja laughed softly. “I would be alone here if a certain dumbass went to find me instead of going into the ship.”
“Shut up.” Yoo Joonghyuk huffed. “There’s no way I’d leave you here.”
2:00
“I know. You love me.”
“I do.”
There was a long pause.
In the horizon, a small dot slowly rose along with the peachy colors of the sky, completely hiding the stars behind. The not so clean seawater turned into the same color but a murky one.
“The water looked ugly.”
“It does.” Yoo Joonghyuk laughed. “A certain stupid man choose this spot instead of a love hotel.”
“??? Who would love to stay on a love hotel on their last moments in earth?” Kim Dokja argued and removed his head from Yoo Joonghyuk’s shoulder showing an annoyed face.
“You dont want to have sex for the last time?”
but we do it every night! “….” Kim Dokja was dumbfounded. Surely, this sex-crazed fiancee of his was really annoying as ever. “Youre so stupid.”
00:50
Kim Dokja’s annoyed face then turned to a soft one and showed a small smile. Along with peachy light sponsored by the sunrise, his face became more soft causing Yoo Joonghyuk’s heart to stutter.
“I love you.” Yoo Joonghyuk blurted out. His hand found itself to Kim Dokja’s face, caressing them for the last time.
“I know.” Kim Dokja snorted and broke into a small laugh. “I love you too.” always.
The two inched their faces until their noses touched. They paused for a few second and rubbed their noses fondly and soon kissed each other.
It was just a small innocent peck to their lips and soon hugged each other with happy and contented faces.
In the sky, an unknown sound suddenly emerged from nowhere, explosions ensues.
