Rui does not like ‘Mr. Pleasant’. He's weird and unsettling. Where'd his Akito go, huh? His Akito is supposed to be snarky and give dry remarks at his bad jokes! Also, when did Akito turn into one of those moms at the grocery store who chat for hours at a time? It's been at least 15 minutes already! When did Rui turn into the impatient teenager that said mom drags around, huh? He's half tempted to grab Akito and book it. But he's not that desperate yet, so instead he leans on their shopping cart and watches Akito talk to Momoi-san.
He and Akito had been doing their weekly grocery shopping, when Akito bumped into a certain idol. It's lucky that she wore a disguise or Rui would've been a lot unhappier with the situation. Though maybe if she hadn't worn a disguise they wouldn't be in this situation in the first place.
It's weird. Rui had never thought about it before, ‘cus Akito skipped the nice guy act with him (he was probably too weird, in Akito’s opinion, for that?), but his husband got all soft around the edges and not in a good way. Call him strange, but he'd rather Akito insult him than… whatever this is! It was such a whiplash when Akito changed too. One second Akito was frowning down at his phone, checking their shopping list for anything they still needed to get and the next his eyes went all fake smiley and a, in Rui’s opinion, dead smile made its way into his face instead. He looked so dead inside! Well, at least in Rui’s humble opinion. The difference was so jarring to Rui, that he'd worried about his husband's well-being!
If he left now, would Akito even notice? Normal Akito would, but he's not here, now is he? Rui stands up straight, takes one look at Akito and Momoi-san ( how are they still talking?) and wanders off. Fine then! If Akito wants to talk for another hour he'll go get all the candy in the store. No one can stop him now~
He sighs. Why did Akito even do that? Normal Akito was cool, amazing and so much better than Mr. Pleasant! It didn't seem like Momoi-san was put off by it, does that mean Mr. Pleasant is who she think Akito really is? He shudders. The thought is too terrifying. Only Mr. Pleasant? He'd have never talked to Akito again, if that were the person he first talked to. To think one conversation is what determined their future together. How lucky they truly were…
He arrives at the candy aisle, mood immediately brightening. Well, Mr. Pleasant seemed to have his perks too. Akito would never let him buy out the whole aisle. He goes to grab a pack of sour candies, when a hand shoots out to grab his wrist. He's so startled he stumbles into the person. Thankfully, the person catches him. When he looks up to see who his knight in shining armor is, he sees his beloved green eyes. They don't look dead anymore and he cheers, causing Akito to blink at him in confusion. Instead of elaborating, because why would he, he gets out of Akito’s arms and turns around, beaming. “What? You're not gonna get anymore candy by looking at me like that, ya know?” And he talks like his Akito again!
“Oh Akito, I was so scared, how could you leave me!” He pretends to faint, a hand on his forehead, as he falls into Akito’s arms again. “H-hey don't do that all of a sudden! And what d’you mean, I left? You're the one who wandered off.” Rui shakes his head. “No, no, no. You've got it all wrong. You left before I did! All that was left was this weirdly nice guy. He was so weird, you would not believe it!” Akito stares at him tiredly, then sighs. “Man… You ‘n Touya are the exact same. What're you people even complaining about?” Rui stands up straight again and they take their shopping cart, making their way to the cash register. So Akito knew people didn't like Mr. Pleasant? And he still acted like that?! Why? Was this revenge for the crawling glasses or something?! Rui pouts. Not cool. Not cool at all.
